Had some fun ideas while messing with the Lego Digital Designer. Being a huge fan of Subnautica, I decided to create a line of Subnautica LEGO sets and I set to work creating my first project: The Reaper Leviathan Attack!! Features a three-foot-long, fully posable Reaper Leviathan with closable mandibles and jaws, a fully posable and to-scale PRAWN exosuit with the player included and also features an opening hatch just like in the game, a storage compartment, and fully functioning arms, as well as a buildable Sand Shark and two sand dunes which include wreckage from the Aurora (this is supposed to represent the Crash Zone and the player's first encounter with the Reaper Leviathan).

If you like LEGO and if you love Subnautica like me, and if you want this to be an actual set in stores, please support and share with your friends! I'm currently working on several of these sets, which include a buildable Sea Dragon, a to-scale Cyclops in which you can dock your PRAWN or Seamoth, a fully-fledged Subnautica underwater base, as well as the survivors of the Degasi!

UPDATE: I just finished my second set yesterday and it is now LIVE on LEGO Ideas: the Survivors of the Degasi! It depicts the seabase of Paul and Bart Torgal and Marguerit Maida in the Jelly Shroom Caves, which is one of my favorite biomes of Subnautica. This took a loooong time to make (a few hours a day for a couple weeks) to get everything just right, but it was worth the effort!

I decided to make this set a "flashback" scene - as the player, we only see the Degasi Jelly Shroom base when it's derelict and abandoned, but this set shows off the base in its prime. Also, we never actually see the characters of Paul, Bart, or Marguerit, so the figures in this set are my interpretation of what these characters might have looked like.

The set features the four-and-a-half foot long seabase just as depicted in Subnautica (painstakingly recreated in LDD), with two Multipurpose Rooms that actually open, glass and regular compartments, an Observatory which one can open and place a figure into, and functioning Hatches that also open; Marguerit Maida's battle-PRAWN suit, equipped with a Propulsion Cannon arm and a Torpedo arm, whose hatch can open to seat a figure inside; two Crabsnakes, which can curl up and hide inside the large Jelly Shroom which is also included; two Oculus and two Eyeyes and various pink glowing flora that exist in the caves.

The two Multipurpose Rooms are hinged so they can be opened up into two halves each: the first Multipurpose Room contains a desk for Paul Torgal, a cabinet for storing PDAs, and a bed (which splits into two smaller beds when the room is opened); the second Multipurpose Room has a removable Modification Station (which opens up!) a Lab Counter (with lab equipment and a Jack's Septic Tank on top), a Water Filtration Machine, and a display for Maida's diving suit and weapons.

Each minifigure comes with two outfits - one for when working inside the base and one for underwater exploration. Paul comes with a Habitat Builder, Bart (who is cybernetically enhanced) comes with a special hairpiece and a Scanner; and Maida (who I decided on a black and purple color scheme) comes with a spear and a transfuser gun.

Again, please check this set out on my LEGO Ideas page and hit that support button! Here are some photos of the set:

UPDATE: Survivors of the Degasi just reached 100 supporters on LEGO Ideas!! Overwhelmed by all the support that it's getting. Now we need 900 more! My next project is THE LOST RIVER (primarily the Bones Field plus the Ghost Leviathan) so stay tuned for that!

UPDATE 2: Life is beginning to start after a languid summer, and school for me begins in less than a week. It's been a great few months full of Lego designing but the time I'm going to have for my upcoming projects will be drastically reduced. For now, the Lost River set is kind of on hold - who knew giant monster skulls could be so hard to make into Lego?? But I have been working on another project, which will be the Safe Shallows and the player's first "section" of the game. The set will include a highly detailed Lifepod 5, a basic Seamoth, the Mobile Vehicle Bay, terrain pieces from the Safe Shallows, and lots of fauna and flora and collectible items (plus the all-important player himself). Stay tuned for that set as it is around 80% done and I will post pictures here as soon as it's finished.

Mega Blocks

My Project: Based on the popular underwater survival game SUBNAUTICA, created by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, this is my third Subnautica LEGO set that I have created. It is called "Exploring the Safe Shallows", and it depicts the player's first experience of the game, which is his lifepod crash-landing onto the ocean planet, 4546B, in the biome known as the Safe Shallows.

How I did it: As with my first two sets - "Reaper Leviathan Attack" and "Survivors of the Degasi" - (check out the Degasi set on my page and make sure to smash that support button), I used the Subnautica Wiki as well as my own copy of the game and recreated portions of the Safe Shallows biome, Lifepod 5, and the Mobile Vehicle Bay using the LEGO Digital Designer. However, this is my first time I am using the Bluerender software to render LDD images, so I hope that the images I have posted here are of better quality than before. As always, I have included links to the pictures I used down below.

Description: Our lone survivor has narrowly escaped the doomed ship Aurora and has ejected to safety in Lifepod 5. Unbenownst to him, he crash-lands on the ocean planet 4546B, luckily in the middle of the Safe Shallows biome. Our survivor leaves the safety of his lifepod and finds himself in a strange underwater world, where mineral-rich coral reefs and friendly fish and other fauna thrive in the shallow water. It's time to start searching for a way back home but first he must forage for materials and supplies to survive until he is rescued. He sets up his Mobile Vehicle Bay and builds a Seamoth, a one-person submersible, and explores the area, careful to stay away from the Gasopods and the clouds of toxic gas pods they release when threatened. Before heading back to his lifepod, our suvivor decides to explore one of the cave systems and soon encounters a Crashfish Plant, which opens up and releases the angry inhabitant inside! Can our survivor manage to outswim the fish or will he get caught in the Crashfish's deadly (and suicidal) explosion? You decide!

1. Every aspect of this set features intricate details straight from the video game Subnautica.

2. Includes three modules of the Safe Shallows biome - a tall coral ridge, a seafloor, and a cave system; Lifepod 5, with a brick-built "5" on each side; the Mobile Vehicle Bay; a basic Seamoth, a Seaglide, flora and fauna of the biome; and the player himself.

3. Remove the top of Lifepod 5 to play inside!

4. Inside the Lifepod, use the Fabricator to craft materials; listen to messages on the Communications Relay; make First Aid Kits using the Medical Kit Fabricator; and store items in the 5 storage compartments.

5. Recreate the introductory sequence from the game during the escape from the Aurora! Sit the minifigure in the seat, lock him inside using the folding restraints, and use the included fire extinguisher to put out any fires!

6. Climb the ladder of the Lifepod to access the top hatch, and swim up to the bottom of the Lifepod to access the bottom hatch.

7. Climb onto the floating Mobile Vehicle Bay and fabricate the Seamoth!

8. Fauna: includes three Peepers, two Bladderfish, two Rabbit Rays, one Crashfish, three Rabbit Ray eggs, a Crashfish egg, and two Gasopods.

9. Flora: includes Writhing Weeds, Veined Nettles, Blue Palms, Seagrass, Brain Corals, and Acid Mushrooms

10. Materials: includes Salt Deposits, Lead, Quartz, Copper Ore, and Gold (plus a Metal Salvage for making Titanium!)

11. The modular design of the three Safe Shallows sections allows you to change the layout of the biome for display or keep them separate for extra playability!

12. Remove the top of the cave system and venture inside, but be careful of the three Crashfish Plants inside!

13. Includes one closed Crashfish Plant, an open one with a Crashfish egg inside, and an open one with Crashfish Powder inside.

14. Break open Limestone Outcrops for minerals, harvest Acid Mushrooms to make batteries, and Coral Shell Plates to make water.

15. Scan the different fauna and flora with the included Spectroscopic Scanner but don't stay near the Gasopods for too long!

16. The survivor minifigure comes with a Survival Knife, an Airtank, Fins, a buildable Seaglide, a Scanner, and a different face for when he is wearing a Rebreather.

17. Open the cockpit of the Seamoth and seat the survivor's minifigure at the controls, and have fun exploring!

Thanks for checking out this project! Please check out my other set on my page as well, which features the survivors of the Degasi in the Jelly Shroom Caves! If you're a fan of the game and want this to become a real LEGO set, please support and share with your friends! More Subnautica sets (including a Lost River set with a Ghost Leviathan!) coming real soon!

Made another Subnautica Lego set! I know it's been a while since I've updated my previous blog (the one with the Reaper Leviathan set and the Degasi seabase) but school has kicked into full gear and the time I have for Lego creating has substantially been reduced. But don't worry! I'm not quitting any time soon. I still have so many ideas to implement to "brickify" - including *wink wink* some Precursor structures and *wink wink wink* some even bigger Leviathans than the Reaper!

For this set, I decided to depict the player's very first experience of Subnautica: the crash-landing of Lifepod 5 in the middle of the Safe Shallows! It's called "Exploring the Safe Shallows", and it has been out on Lego Ideas for about three weeks now. I've been flabbergasted by the amount of support it's been getting - the count as of now is 461 supporters!! And the number is increasing by the hour. I'm even happier to report that one of our beloved Subnautica developers, Obraxis, has tweeted his support of the set as well - thanks Obraxis!! Much love

1. The set includes three modules of the Safe Shallows biome, Lifepod 5, the Mobile Vehicle Bay, a Seamoth, plus the player and many different flora and fauna of the biome.

2. For me, Lifepod 5 is the highlight of the set (it also was the hardest to build): the roof of the lifepod comes off so one can actually play inside! The interior of the lifepod is a faithful representation of the in-game lifepod, including a hinged Fabricator, a Medical Kit Fabricator, a Communications Relay, a Fire Extinguisher, the twin seats with the folding restraints, and storage compartments.

3. The top and bottom hatches of the Lifepod actually open!

4. The Seamoth was also really tricky to build, but I'm really glad with how it turned out (as you know, literally everything in Subnautica is round or spherical, and it's super hard to make Lego either round or spherical). The cockpit opens so you can seat a minifigure inside, the interior of which is also a exact representation of the in-game Seamoth.

5. The Mobile Vehicle Bay is also included, allowing the player to fabricate his Seamoth using the four included drones (caution: does not actually float).

6. Different fauna includes Peepers, Bladderfish, Rabbit Rays, a Crashfish, and two Gasopods (plus secret Rabbit Ray and Crashfish eggs!)

7. Different flora includes Writhing Weeds, Veined Nettles, Blue Palms, Seagrass, Brain Corals, Coral Plates, and Acid Mushrooms.

8. The three different sections of the Safe Shallows biome - a tall coral ridge, a seafloor, and a cave system - can be rearranged or reassembled for display/playability.

9. Find different materials scattered all over the biome, including Salt Deposits, Lead, Gold, Copper Ore, and Quartz!

10. Minifigure of the survivor comes with two faces (one with his regular face and one when he is wearing a rebreather), a Survival Knife, a PDA, an Airtank, Fins, a Scanner, as well as a buildable Seaglide!
