Background
Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus Persson (Notch) and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting, and combat. Gameplay in its commercial release has four principal modes: survival, which requires players to acquire resources and maintain their health and hunger; adventure, is a game mode intended for player-created maps by limiting some of the gameplay in Minecraft, in which the player cannot directly destroy most blocks to avoid spoiling adventure maps or griefing servers. Most blocks cannot be destroyed without the proper items. However, players can still craft items and interact with mobs, item frames, and paintings; Another gamemode similar to Survival is Hardcore Mode, so once the player dies they cannot respawn.; Spectator mode is a game mode which allows you to fly around to watch the world without interacting with it. Spectator mode can be entered by using the commandant. and creative, where players have an unlimited supply of resources, the ability to fly, and no health or hunger.
Set Release History
In late December 2011, the concept of a Minecraft-themed set was submitted to LEGO's website CUUSOO. Due to the game's large fanbase and the large LEGO fanbase, the concept received the 10,000 supporters it needed very quickly. The concept went through a long review period, and after going through all of the necessary product tests, a set was produced, 21102 Micro World, unveiled at LEGO World Copenhagen in February 2012. The set went on sale June 1, 2012. Many units of the set were sold.
Due to the popularity of the single set, two more sets, 21105 The Village and 21106 The Nether, were unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2013. The sets went on sale September 1, 2013.
On November 2, 2013, at MineCon 2013, LEGO announced brand new minifigure-scale Minecraft sets. Fans can leave their input and ideas for the new sets on the LEGO Minecraft Facebook page.

LEGO® Minecraft™ Micro World details unveiled, available for pre-order
BILLUND, Denmark – The LEGO Group and Mojang have released purchase details and pictures of the LEGO® Minecraft™ Micro World today.
“LEGO Minecraft Micro World is designed to celebrate the essence of the LEGO concept and the Minecraft gaming experience,” said Paal Smith-Meyer, Head of the LEGO New Business Group. Each set features four cubic modular vignettes that can be connected to recreate the Minecraft experience in LEGO bricks. One Minecraft block is represented as one 1x1 LEGO plate with a tile on top - not a perfect cube, but the best approximation at the chosen scale.
LEGO Minecraft Micro World includes two of Minecraft's most iconic characters, Steve and a Creeper, represented as "Micro Mobs." The model presents a standard for building a Minecraft world that can be configured any way the builder likes.
The surface of the modules comes off to reveal mines and hidden resources beneath. Fans can build their own landscapes, stack cubes on top of each other, to build the world of Minecraft as they wish.
The product was developed in collaboration with four LEGO fans: Chris Malloy, Michael Thomas, Kyle Tingey, and Bjarne Panduro Tveskov. These fans developed concepts alongside LEGO designers and helped shape the product into its final version.
Upon seeing the physical model the first time, Mojang founder Markus “Notch” Persson exclaimed: “Woohoo!”
Ideas that are supported by 10,000 votes have a chance of being selected to become part of the LEGO Group’s product portfolio. Consumers who have their ideas chosen will earn 1% of the total net sales of the product.
Mojang will donate the 1% proceeds from LEGO CUUSOO to charity.

LEGO Minecraft New Product Highlights
The Village With this model, fans can create and customize their own Minecraft village with LEGO bricks. Just like the game, fans can build houses, grow crops and beware the mines in their own micro-world as well as play out their own storylines with Pig, Villager and Zombie constructible Micromob figures.
The Nether Builders can create the Minecraft Obsidian Portal and The Nether to explore the newest biome with this micro-scale LEGO model, complete with Netherrack, gravel, flowing lava and bedrock. This model includes two Ghasts and one Zombie Pigman constructible Micromob figures.
The new LEGO Minecraft micro-scale models can be split into four sections and reconfigured for different play experiences. They will be available beginning September 1, 2013 with a suggested retail price of $34.99.

This speed build by Brick Builder shows it coming together and gives you a tantalising sneak peek at all the details tucked away in the set. There’s a redstone-powered minecart elevator, a charged Creeper ready to explode, seven different ores you can mine, and TNT that you can blast to customise your track.
How much it makes me want to build: 8/10
This fearsome beast made of logs, vines, and stone towers above the jungle explorer and archaeologist, who also have to face an enchanted Creeper and a skeleton to make it out of this set in one piece.
This build by @lucasminibuilder takes special care to show off the flower growing out of the Jungle Abomination’s chest, which is a nice touch, and it’s a great example of the thrilling action scenes you can create in LEGO Minecraft. The poor explorers have their work cut out for them.
How much it makes me want to build: 8.5/10
A brickfilm is a stop-motion animation using LEGO figures, and of course there are LEGO Minecraft brickfilms now. One of the best is Night of the Nether, a 14-minute adventure (and only part one of the story) made by The Action Brick that sees Steve set out on a dangerous journey to the Nether to save his village.
The sets are beautifully made, the animation is gorgeous, the voice acting is fantastic, and it’s also just very funny. Watch Steve’s sheepish head turn when his “bow and arrow with a rope attached to it” fails spectacularly.
How much it makes me want to build: 9/10
The beauty of LEGO design and Minecraft’s minimalist, blocky aesthetic looks amazing in this nighttime scene by @quberick. A poor explorer — thankfully protected by a Netherite helmet — is running as fast as he can while being swooped by dark creatures.
The builder has digitally added a starry night sky to their creation, and the bright beams of light coming off a nearby lamp guide the explorer’s way. Your LEGO Minecraft creations don’t have to stop at building the sets: you can add finishing touches like a full moon, flames, or splashing water digitally to make your work stand out.
How much it makes me want to build: 10/10
What does it look like when every LEGO Minecraft set is combined? Beyond the Brick showed off this incredible creation, made by a young builder named Kaedin Evans, that carefully combines each set to create an entire world. Just like in the game, this creation is made up of several biomes, including a grass overworld, a jungle, a rushing waterfall, the mushroom island, a snowy mountain range, and the fearsome Nether. There’s even an area watched over by a ferocious Ender Dragon.
As if that wasn’t big enough, Kaedin’s added to his build since he first showed it off, and it’s now truly massive.
It’s a beautiful creation that shows just how customisable the LEGO Minecraft sets are. This really is a Minecraft world built in real life.
