Chase McCain is a character that appeared in LEGO City Undercover and LEGO Dimensions. He works at the LEGO City Police Station and is the main protagonist of LEGO City Undercover and LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins.

Becoming a Police Officer

Chase McCain became a policeman at the LEGO City Police Department, where he met Chief Gleeson and Marion Dunby, the Deputy. He was sent to get some donuts for the station, and then went to find someone's dog. He met news reporter Natalia Kowalski when the LEGO City Police Department was interviewed by a news team. Chase was sent to show them what kind of police work they do. He rescued a couple of civilians who were put in danger by the Knuckles gang. Chase then went to stop a car robbery hosted by Booster Strange. Chase then arrested Booster, and Dunby told Chase that Booster said there was a hideout at the apartments. Chase went to investigate and found out about the leader of the Knuckles gang, Tony 'Knuckles' McGee, and his plan to take over the Cherry Tree Hills district of the city. Knuckles sent a man named Jimmy to rob the bank so they can get the funds for their plan. Chase went to the bank and chased Jimmy onto the rooftops. Jimmy informed Chase about Knuckles' hideout in the basketball court in the next block. Chase went to the court and was able to arrest Knuckles.

A situation started to develop at Albatross Island Prison. Chase was sent to the prison to go undercover as a prisoner and find out what was happening. He learned from a prisoner disguised as a guard that the prisoners were planning to break out. After the breakout, Chase learned that 5 of LEGO City's worst criminals escaped, one of them being Rex Fury. Chief Gleeson explained to Chase that they believed Rex was behind a string of robberies, but they couldn't prove it because he always commits crimes in disguise. She stated that they could be part of a bigger plan, and that Chase needed to find out what was happening. She sent him to investigate a theft at the docks, which turned out to be caused by one of the 5 big criminals who escaped. After fighting them, Dunby, Chase, and another officer discussed why they needed construction materials. Chase suggested that it was so they could stop the bridge repairs, which would mean nobody could get into Fort Meadows. Dunby then sent Chase to go investigate Fort Meadows.

At Hayes Farm in Fort Meadows, a farmer told Chase that a bunch of robberies were happening in the area lately, and Farmer Hayes disappeared. Chase found out that another one of the 5 escaped criminals, von Kruchman, and their gang took over Hayes Farm. Chase fought and defeated Kruchman, and found a card which could lead to something. Back at the station, the officers connected the card to an ID card you'd use on Apollo Island. Chase goes to Apollo Island and learns that a bunch of goons were trashing the place, preventing a shuttle from launching. Chase helps the astronauts at the space station to launch the rocket. Chase then finds Natalia, who is attempting to rescue her dad, Professor Kowalski, who works at Apollo Island and is being held captive by some goons who want 2 of his ray guns. Chase rescues the professor, and immediately after, Natalia goes missing. One of the 5 criminals, Flash Johnson, then breaks into the hangar. Chase follows him and finds Natalia frozen in ice. Chase stops Flash, and some officers arrive to bring Natalia back to the station. Natalia claims Flash wasn't the guy who captured her. Chase asks if it was Rex, and she says yes. Chief Gleeson tells Chase to take Natalia to the sheriff's station in Bluebell Woods to keep here away from danger.

At the sheriff's station, Chase starts to develop a relationship with Natalia. The sheriff tells Chase about some trouble in the Blackwell Mines. Chase arrives at the mines, and a miner tells him about some thugs with explosives that may be trying to explode it. Chase foils their plans, and meets Forrest Blackwell, the owner of Blackwell Enterprises. A few moments later, Chase is informed of an attempt to blow up Bluebell Dam. Chase goes to prevent the occasion and succeeds in doing so. Chase then gets told about some thugs stealing rare squirrels in the forest. Chase saves the squirrels, and returns to the sheriff's station. The sheriff says some criminals stole a police car, and Chase goes to track it down. Chase is able to return it, and then goes to deal with some trouble at the waterfall. One of the criminals escapes in a pickup truck, so Chase goes after him. Chase catches the criminal, but the criminal tells him that it wasn't his idea to blow stuff up and capture the squirrels, and it was Carl Walnuts to who told them to do so. The criminal says Walnuts is going to meet up with someone in the forest hut. Chase goes to listen in on what they're saying, and overhears Walnuts talking to Blackwell, who ordered Walnuts to blow up things and rid the area of the rare squirrels so he could build there. He tells Walnuts to blow up the temple, and he'll give him a mech. Chase stops the temple from being destroyed, then goes to deal with Walnuts, who stole the mech from the Blackwell Mines. After arresting Walnuts, Chase is confronted by Rex, and accidentally reveals that Natalia was freed from the ice. Rex guesses that she's at the sheriff's station and goes to capture her.

Back in the city, Rex starts blowing things up and setting buildings on fire. Chase puts out the fires, rescues Natalia, and goes to pursue Rex at the LEGO City Bank. Rex enters the bank vault, and escapes in a garbage truck after Chase turns off the lasers to the vault. Chase destroys the truck Rex is in, and then chases him onto the top of a blue truck. They fight until both of them are knocked off. Dunby arrests Rex, and Chase, being very dizzy, accidentally says that Natalia has agreed to testify against Rex in public. Due to this mistake, Chase is sent to Brick County for 2 years, where he learns to be more competent. [1]

Returning to LEGO City

After being sent away for 2 years, Chase McCain returns to LEGO City and learns from now Mayor Gleeson that Rex Fury has escaped from prison. He goes to the police station where he meets Frank Honey who shows him around. He calls Natalia who is now in witness protection and works at Mercy Hearts Hospital. Chase reunites with Dunby, who is now the police chief, and orders him to get a uniform on in the basement. Chase meets Ellie Phillips, who gives him a scanner which can help him with solving crimes.

Dunby gives a briefing on Rex when all of a sudden, some criminals rob the bank at Cherry Tree Hills. Chase apprehends the robbers, and then goes to deal with a roadblock at Auburn Bay Bridge. Natalia drives across the bridge while speeding, and Chase goes to stop her. After stopping her, Natalia claims that she wants to leave LEGO City.

Chase gets a call from Ellie about some criminals on top of a building near Denny's Diner. Chase goes after the criminals and interrogates one of them about Rex. The criminal says that Blue at Albatross Prison might know something about how Rex escaped. [2] At the prison, Blue tells Chase that nobody is allowed to go into Rex's cell, including the police, so he helps him sneak in. Chase finds a hammer which looks as if it's from the Bluebell Mine. [3] Ellie says that a man named Clarence Fletcher was a witness of a theft at the Bluebell Mine. Chase goes to investigate the mines, and upon exiting them, Rex Fury knocks him out. The sheriff, Duke Huckleberry, and Natalia find him. Chase asks why Natalia is there, and the sheriff says she is looking for her dad, and Natalia says and does not want Chase to intervene. The sheriff tells Chase that he can learn kung fu at Barry Smith's Dojo to prevent himself from getting knocked out again. [4] After an intense training session, [5] Chase gets a call from Frank who has been captured by some members of Chan Chuang's gang while he was delivering the new truck to the police station. Chase fights them, then drives the truck to the police station, where the mayor and the chief are waiting. Chase informs the mayor and the chief about Chan Chuang.

Chase is sent undercover in Chan Chaung's gang to see if he is linked to Rex. He listens to something a couple of Chan's gang members said about Bucky Butler being at the Art Gallery. Chase goes to the Art Gallery to arrest Bucky Butler who stole a painting. Chase then goes to Chan's Limo Place where he is sent on a job to deliver Blackwell to a show he is seeing. He is then sent to steal a car from a building in Paradise Sands. He returns to the Chan's Limo Place and sees someone robbing it. He chases after them only to realize that they are Natalia, who is looking for evidence about her dad going missing. She says that she found empty money bags from Pappalardo's Ice Cream Parlor. Chase suspects that Chan is working for Vinnie Pappalardo who is working for Rex, so he goes undercover in his gang. Chase talks to Moe De Luca, Vinnie's cousin, and he says that Vinnie wants him to deliver some color guns to his place. Chase delivers the color guns, and meets with Vinnie. Vinnie wants Chase to steal the Bell Pepper Emerald from the LEGO City Bank, so he goes to do just that. [6] After doing so, he gets a call from Chan about stealing a moon buggy from the Apollo Island Space Centre. After stealing the moon buggy, [7] Chase gets a call about Blackwell being held hostage on top of a building in Downtown, so he goes to rescue him. He then gets a call from Natalia, who is being held hostage at Chan's Scrapyard. Chase rescues her, [8] and then is sent to deal with smaller issues with the Sheriff.

After rounding up some pigs at Hayes Farm, Chase is sent on a job by Vinnie to steal a T-Rex skeleton from the museum. [9] He takes it to the LEGO City Airport, and then is sent to steal a boat from the LEGO City Fire Department. [10] Chase takes the boat to Vinnie, and then gets a call from Natalia who has been captured by some sentinels. Chase rescues her, and she thanks him. Chase returns to Pappalardo's Ice Cream Parlor, where Moe De Luca tells him about Vinnie's meeting with his "private buyer". Chase goes to the meetings and finds out that Vinnie is indeed working for Rex. Vinnie is tired of working for Rex, so he tells Chase to rob Blackwell's Mansion just for them. Chase is caught by Blackwell's security and runs out of the mansion without stealing anything. [11] In response of Vinnie deciding to stop working for him, Rex sends some of his goons to lock him in a freezer. Chase rescues him, and they interrogate Jimmy Grossman, one of Rex's goons, about a job to steal a crane at the construction site. Jimmy says Chase can take his place during the job. [12] Chase goes to the construction site, and helps the goons steal the crane, [13] which they take to the observatory. They steal the telescope, and then go to Rex's Secret Base. At the base, Chase overhears Rex talking to his boss about getting all of the stuff. After sneaking through the base, Chase finds Professor Kowalski being held captive by Rex and Rex's boss, Blackwell, who needed some of his inventions. Blackwell also had Natalia hostage. Chase rescues the professor [14] and they both go to Blackwell's mansion to investigate there. They find a model of Blackwell's Moon Base, which is using the professor's phased polarity exclusion field which lets you breath in space. Chase realizes that Blackwell can't fit all of his goons in a rocket on Apollo Island, and realizes that the rocket in the module is Blackwell Tower. [15] Chase goes to the professor's lab to gather some machines which can set up a force field. Chase sets up the force field around Blackwell Tower, so during liftoff, it doesn't burn everything within 10 blocks. Chase then uses a shuttle on Apollo Island to reach Blackwell's Moon Base. There, Chase goes to defeat Blackwell and Rex, and to save Natalia. Rex turned the T-Rex skeleton from the museum into a mech, which he fights Chase with. Chase knocks him into the energy tanks which run Blackwell's Moon Base. The rocket explodes, and Chase and Rex fight a bit more. Chase gets into the command module which Natalia is in and activates the breaks. They touch down in LEGO City where they are greeted by the mayor, the chief, Frank, and Ellie. Rex crashes through someone's roof and is arrested by some officers. [16] [17]

Background

Chase McCain is best known for being the LCPD Police Officer who took down the infamous Rex Fury. In his first year as a Police Officer of the LEGO City Police Department, he fought Rex on a moving truck, before putting a stop to the fight by throwing him off the vehicle. However, he accidentally revealed his girlfriend's identity to everybody in LEGO City.

Despite this, Chase was transferred to the other side of the world, but returned a few years later, he went far beyond the call of duty with the use of disguises and fought Rex once again, in a spectacular battle on board the debris of a space station that was quickly plummeting back down to Earth.
