The first production Corsairs were delivered to the US Navy in July 1942, but they were not immediately accepted due to problems encountered during aircraft carrier landings. While these problems were being worked out, the Navy passed on their Corsairs to land-based US Marine aviation units in the Pacific. The first Marine Piloted Corsairs arrived in the Pacific during February 1943, and within months there were favorable results against Japanese Aircraft. The Marines soon discovered the Corsairs were an immensely capable ground attack aircraft and was ideally suited for CAS (Close-Air Support) operations. By the end of 1943, Corsairs were attacking ground targets with bombs, napalm tanks and rockets. The carrier landing problems were eventually resolved and the Corsair was officially adopted for use by the US Navy in February 1944. Corsairs would continue to be used by the Navy and Marines well into the 1950s and proved invaluable in the CAS role.

The Corsair's record backs up its reputation as one of the top fighter aircraft of WWII. Its over-all kill ratio against Japanese aircraft was more than 11:1 and more than 6:1 against their most capable fighters. It also delivered more than 70% off all bombs dropped by US fighter aircraft during the war. The Japanese considered the Corsair to be the most formidable enemy aircraft and nicknamed it "Whistling Death" in reference to the sound made by the Corsair's wing front air intakes.

Il Chance Vought F4U CORSAIR è uno degli aeroplani piu iconici della seconda guerra mondiale, costruito in moltissimi esemplari a partire dal 1942 ( l’ultimo esemplare fu assemblato nel 1979).

Utilizzato prevalentemente allla USA NAVY è stato il principale caccia imbarcato nelle portaerei

Questo modello è completamente assemblabile con parti reperibili su Bricklink (891 pezzi totali), misura 57×44 STUDS (45×35 cm) per un peso totale di oltre 600 grammi.

Questo modello prevedo lo spazio per una minifigures in cabina, il carrello di atterraggio a scomparsa sotto le ali come nel modello originale e le ali che si ripiegano per l’ imbarco sulle portaerei.

E’ un modello stabile da esposizione anche se non giocabile, è stato costruito fisicamente nella versione MK5, consiglio di aquistarlo solo ai costruttori di buon livello.

The Chance Vought F4U CORSAIR is one of the most iconic airplanes of the Second World War, built in many examples starting from 1942 (the last one was assembled in 1979).

Used mainly in the USA NAVY, it was the main fighter embarked on aircraft carriers

This model is fully assembled with parts available on Bricklink (891 total pieces), measuring 57×44 STUDS (45×35 cm) for a total weight of over 600 grams.

This model provides space for a minifigures in the cabin, the landing gear retractable under the wings as in the original model and the wings that fold for boarding on aircraft carriers.

It is a stable model for display even if not playable, it was physically built in the MK5 version, I recommend buying it only for good builders.

A legend of World War II, the F4U Corsair saw significant combat in the Pacific Theater after 1943. Сборка модели трудностей не составляет (стыкуемость на 4 из 5), шпатлевки я использовал по минимуму, порадовали тонкие задние кромки (. ). Но у меня опять возникла проблема с пластиком от Академии (как и с B-17), он вроде бы клеится нормально, но после грунтовки (или покраски) все равно появляются трещины по швам. Клей пробовал разный - и Тамия (и супертекучий и обычный), и Ревелл - эффект одинаковый. Именно поэтому немного устал - может, мои шишки кому-то помогут в постройке. Этими же клеями отлично клеятся пластик Eduard и Trumpeter.

Двигатель доработал - установил новые толкатели из проволоки (припой), добавил топливопроводы из медной проволоки, на картер двигателя установил болты. БАНО сделал из прозрачного литника. Как всегда сделал проводку, установил сеточки. В кабину посадил пилота от Eduard'овской Аэрокобры.

Окраска - по обычной технологии, ничего нового пока не придумал. Честно, я думал, что слабым местом модели окажутся известные Академовские декали, но тут я был приятно удивлен - приварились как родные (правда, я пользуюсь Micro Set и Sol).
