Lego back to the future the delorean

Обновлено: 24.04.2024

On Thursday, March 17, Lego launched a “three in one reproduction” of Back to the Future Time Machine based on the iconic DeLorean DMC-12. Coming with an accurate representation, the set will allow users to showcase the model as any of the three versions of the DeLorean from the trilogy.

The Back to the Future DeLorean time machine will come as the original version which has the lightning rod as well. Meanwhile, the “2015-timeline” futuristic upgraded one with Mr. Fusion and hover capabilities will be the second form. The final one would be the 1885 look with the version showcased at the end of the third film. While the set provides options to display any of these three forms, all forms cannot be displayed in one unit simultaneously.

Great Scott! We're going Brick to the Future with the new LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine. Available 1st April!

Lego also announced an animated short film, titled Brick to the Future, to celebrate the launch of the time machine set piece. The entire clip showcases the Lego version of Marty McFly and Doc Brown in a Lego-style animated diorama.

What is known about the Lego ‘Back to the Future’ Delorean 2022 and what will it cost?

As per Lego’s press release, the set comes with 1872 pieces and minifigures of Marty and Doc Brown. The toy maker labeled the product as a part of their “Creator Expert” series, which is meant for advanced Lego enthusiasts.

In the document, BTTF trilogy producer and writer Bob Gale said:

“In the movie, Doc Brown spent almost 30 years and his entire family fortune to build his Time Machine. Fortunately, you’ll be able to build this LEGO model in significantly less time and with far less expense – although your completed version will be unable to travel through time!”

The Back to the Future DeLorean time machine set costs $169 in the USA, £149.99 in the UK, €169.99 in Europe. The set will drop on April 1 and will be available on Lego online and offline stores.

Omg Back to the Future Lego DeLorean! Versions from all 3 movies and the hoverboard and Marty and Doc mini figs! Available April 1!

Team BTTF's LEGO Jules Verne Train (not commercially produced).

The submitters of the DeLorean model, under the name Team BTTF, went on to create models for the Jules Verne Train and Locomotive 131, which contained motors and could run on LEGO train tracks. However, these models were never accepted by LEGO.

Back to the Future was later included as a franchise in LEGO Dimensions, which allowed the player to explore three different eras of Hill Valley.

Notes

  • The 1% that the builders make on the sale of this will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
  • The instructions give the builder the opportunity to add details to the car (which are included in the set itself) to modify it into three different versions, that represent the DeLorean as depicted in the three different movies. These additional parts include Mr. Fusion for making the BTTF II time machine, and red wheel rims and a hood box for making the BTTF III time machine. The wheels also rotate into flight position.
  • The date given on the time circuit piece is January 28, 1958, the date on which the modern LEGO brick patent was filed.
  • The first edition of the Flux Capacitor piece was printed with a spelling error, where instead of "SHIELD EYES FROM LIGHT" it read "SHEILD EYES FROM LIGHT". Owners of the misprinted part were able to request a replacement piece with the correct spelling.

LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine

A brand-new Lego Back to the Future DeLorean set has appeared after weeks of rumors, and it's due to hit shelves very soon - April, in fact.

Officially dubbed the 'Lego Back to the Future Time Machine', fans can get their hands on this kit as of April 1, 2022. It'll cost $169.99 from the official Lego Store (opens in new tab) or £149.99 (opens in new tab) if you're based in the UK, and is being unveiled with a trailer (opens in new tab) that takes Doc Brown and Marty across the Lego-verse - including to Jurassic Park, where they tangle with a T-rex. (Does this make it look like one of the best Lego sets ever? Yes, probably.)

Crucially, this Lego Back to the Future DeLorean can be converted with alternate pieces to represent its upgrades throughout the series. There's even a light-up Flux Capacitor brick that can be plugged into the cabin alongside minifigures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown.

As part of the 'Creator Expert' series, this kit is a more challenging build designed for adults. Made up of 1,872 pieces, it measures 35cm in diameter and has a detailed interior that can be admired by lifting the DeLorean's gullwing doors. Its real party trick is an ability to swap parts out to represent each movie, though.

Along with the car's look from the original film (complete with lightning rod), this Lego Back to the Future Time Machine can opt for hover tyres, a Mr. Fusion engine add-on that's 'powered' by a Lego banana, or whitewall tires with a hood-mounted circuit board for its travels in the Old West. Basically, it feels as if Lego has tried to make the ultimate DeLorean with this kit - there's actually room for Marty's hoverboard.

In the here and now, we've got a pre-order link to the Lego Back to the Future DeLorean so you can check it out for yourself.

At an impressive 1,872 pieces strong, this is a much more detailed Lego DeLorean than previous versions (the last set in 2013 only had 401). Thanks to a battery-powered Flux Capacitor and the ability to swap pieces out from each movie, this version is also a lot more ambitious.

Talk of a new Lego Back to the Future DeLorean has been circulating for quite some time, and sites like BrickFanatics (opens in new tab) were reporting on it as late as yesterday. Because these details came from German site PromoBricks (opens in new tab) , more of its predictions could wind up being true - it recently claimed that a Jedi Fallen Order set is on the way (opens in new tab) , for example.

Just don't expect the Lego DeLorean to appear in any Lego deals soon - this one is likely to sell out fast.
