Description [ edit ]

The set consists of three main parts, which are Luke Skywalker's Rebel Snowspeeder, a small P-Tower Turret on a small baseplate with a command post on the side, and another part which consists of three baseplates. The set also includes a Imperial speeder and a small turret. It contains 6 minifigures, a Tauntaun and an Imperial Probe Droid.

The Minifigures include Luke Skywalker in his pilot version, General Rieekan, two Hoth Rebel Troopers and two Snowtroopers.

The Snowspeeder has a design similar to the one from 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave, but with small differences. Some of them are that the orange details are replaced by grey ones. It has a turret on both sides, and a cockpit, which Luke can fit in with his lightsaber. There is a small Alien Conquest gun with binoculars attached to it on the back of the Snowspeeder.

The P-Tower Turret is entirely light bluish grey and dark bluish grey and can rotate. Next to it, is a small command post where General Rieekan can sit. The antenna is made by using a fencing foil.

The other part consists of three small baseplates, each one with different accessories. The first one has a small box and another small accessory, the second one has a pickaxe and a shovel, and the third one has a small rotatable turret.

The speeder and turret

The speeder is the same as in the set 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack. A Snowtrooper can easily fit in it. The turret is the same as the one in 7749 Echo Base. It has a small whip which connects it to a small 2x2 section.

  • Includes 6 minifigures with assorted weapons and accessories: Luke Skywalker in snowspeeder outfit, General Rieekan, 2 Hoth Rebel troopers and 2 Snowtroopers
  • Features snowspeeder, speeder bike, E-Web blaster, Imperial probe droid, tower cannon, command center, trench and a tauntan

  • Snowspeeder measures over 2" (6cm) high, 7" (18cm) long and 5" (13cm) wide
  • Trench measures over 10" (20cm) long, 4" (11cm) wide and 3" (10cm) high

Background [ edit ]

The Battle of Hoth was a major victory for the Galactic Empire and the single worst battlefield defeat suffered by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. The battle was an Imperial invasion aimed at destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on the remote ice world Hoth. The base's location was compromised when a Imperial Probe Droid deployed by Darth Vader landed on Hoth.

Bring your still life to life

It’s time for a little Grogu™ still life practice! Grab your minifigure and follow along as Casper teaches you how to make your minifigure drawing float. When it comes to color, try using different hues of the same color to create depth and show off the details. And now for the final step – making it float! Use a soft color under the minifigure to shade in a little spot that kind of mimics the shape of your minifigure. Think about what your shadow would look like if you were floating!

Brick BIG

Desperate to find cover, the gang reaches a hillside where they meet Crosshair™ alongside a pack of Stormtroopers™. In the skies, a fierce battle between good and evil is taking place. Watch his how-to videos to get some info about how to create your own Brickorama and tell your story.

You can add even more details to your photos when you get creative. Make trees out of cardboard or position your minifigures doing cool moves by using paper clips!

How to Build a Background

One really cool way to add depth, light and movement into your Brick Film is to use a projection in the background. In this video, Forrest Whaley teaches you about a rear screen projection and how he uses animation and a projector to make his backgrounds move. You can do this in your own home by using a computer, tv or tablet screen in the background!

Minifigures Making Moves

Try a hand-drawn Hunter™

Try your skills at drawing a speedy scene from The Bad Batch™ featuring Hunter™. Get a good look at your hoverbike and minifigure, then start drawing! First you will want to draw everything down in pencil. Pay attention to any details. For this base layer it’s OK to make mistakes! Also, fill in the surrounding page with things like motion lines and dust to make it look like your bike is speeding! Next, outline everything in a thin black marker and then the outer-most line with a thicker black marker. When it comes to color, be sure to use different hues to build shadows and highlights in your drawing. It’s those details that really bring it to life. To make your bike hover, add a hoverbike-shaped shadow below your drawing. The darker the shadow, the lower it looks to the ground. Finally, push those highlights with a white paint pen or colored pencil.

How to Get Started on Your First Brick Film

It can be hard to know where to start when making your first stop motion Brick Film. In this video, Forrest Whaley talks about the importance of an animatic – or a sketch of what he is planning for his Brick Film. The first thing you want to do is decide on the story you want to tell. Then, you can make quick sketches of each scene you want to have in your film. Don’t forget to add in transition shots showing how you get from one shot to another. Watch this video to see how Forrest makes his animatics.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th promotions on [email protected] and the main promotion is the Battle of Hoth – 20th Anniversary Edition (40333). The set has 195 pieces and you can get it for free with purchases of $75 or more in Star Wars products, while supplies last. This piece count is the most for a May the 4th promotional set that LEGO has released ever. LEGO has sent over the set early so we can take a quick look at it.

The first thing I have to mention is the box itself. As a collectible set, you do not have to rip it open as it is the resuable folding style. I do like this style of box for promotions as you can store the set whole if you’re done with it.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

The mini scale set features the iconic battle scene from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back with the AT-AT and two Snowspeeders. On the left side, we have the Echo Base DSS-02 shield generator which is now correct with four generators. It uses some gray discs to represent that.

Going around to the front, we have the exclusive printed 2×4 tile of the 20 Years of LEGO Star Wars logo.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

Next to the shield generator, are the two Snowspeeders that sit on a couple of trans-clear 1×1 round bricks. One of the Snowspeeders has the orange color scheme and the other one has the gray one.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

The AT-AT is the largest thing in this set as it towers over everything. The cockpit uses a printed 1×2 slope piece for the red windshield. The laser cannons on the front makes use of a pair of binoculars. The neck connects to the body using a trans-clear 32 shaft with knob which is an intersting part choice.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

The bulky body uses some 1x2x1 bricks with studs for the smooth sides. The legs use hinge pieces to get it in particular poses and the feet makes use of some open studs on the base to keep it fairly stable.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

Finally in the bottom corner, we have the Imperial Probe Droid which is just a clip with a 1×1 round plate with a hole.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

Overall, if you’ve been collecting the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Edition sets, you’ll probably want to get this Battle of Hoth (40333) set as well. Obviously it makes a great little display piece and the scene is a very iconic one and is easily recognizable from all angles.

I know that a lot of us would prefer the exclusive minifigures for May the 4th promotions but I think these type of sets are more meaningful since we get to build something instead of just having a single minifigure. As a matter of fact, I still have the R2-D2 and BB-8 from the past couple of years still built and displayed on my TV stand.

Again, this promotion starts tomorrow at LEGO Stores and on [email protected] with purchases of $75 or more on Star Wars products.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth - 20th Anniversary Edition (40333)

Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.

When you make a purchase or, sometimes, carry out some other action as direct result of clicking on a link at The Brick Fan, we will receive a small commission.
