Lego digital designer models for download

Обновлено: 26.04.2024

Here I am sharing with you downloads for some of my MINDSTORMS robots! The LDD’s are digital models that require the LEGO Digital Designer installed on your computer and the programs are .ev3 files. Click on the link for the file you want to go to the download page. I apologize in advance because the building instructions are auto-generated and can be pretty weird at times. Also, If there are any free floating parts or rubber bands, please see the YouTube video or pictures of the robot to see where they go (as sometimes LDD likes to be annoying and prevents me from putting every part where it belongs).

HiTechnic Programming Blocks

In early 2019, all of the HiTechnic downloads migrated to the Modern Robotics website. However, some of their important programming blocks were lost in the transition. I provide them below for your use.

Each of these blocks must be imported into the EV3 Software before they can be used. See my tutorial for instructions on how to do this.

Disclaimer: I did not create these programming blocks, rather they were created by HiTechnic. I provide them here so that students and hobbyists may have access to them.

Also, I have made PDF building instructions available for the six models featured in my book, Building Smart LEGO MINSTORMS EV3 Robots. The building instructions are much easier to use than the LDD. They also include a parts list, which will help you source the pieces necessary before you start building.

Security Tank

*Note: These PDF building instructions are a work in progress. I am in the process of remaking them, and they will be available by mid May.

For more information on the Security Tank, please see the video.

This robot is featured in my book, Building Smart LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Robots. Click here to learn more about my book!

Omnilander

Note: The PDF building instructions for this model are a work in progress and will be done soon. In the meantime, this link allows you to download the LDRAW CAD file. When opened in LDCAD, this file shows you how to build the robot in ordered chunks. It is a better alternative to LDD.

For more information on the Omnilander, please see the video.

Timmyton (v5.7)

Timmyton 5.7

Thank you to Jetro de Chateau for creating these PDF building instructions.

For more information on the Timmyton, please see the video.

*Can be made using parts from one EV3 (31313) retail set.

Grunt

Thank you to Citra S. for creating these PDF building instructions.

K3MOSAB3 (Sumo Robot)

K3MOSAB3_Render

For more information, please see the video, “K3MOSAB3, an EV3 Sumo Robot.”

*Requires parts not included with the EV3 (31313) retail set.

Plethora II

LEGO Digital Designer:

For more information, please see the video, “Plethora II, an EV3 Racecar.”

*Requires parts not included with the EV3 (31313) retail set.

Proxima (FLL Robot)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This model is provided for inspiration ONLY! You cannot use my exact design if you intend on competing in a robotics competition, such as FLL, WRO, etc. Copying the designs of others is strongly discouraged and goes against the rules and core values of the competition. For more information on the difference between “inspiration” and “copying,” and a discussion of what is okay for competition, see the video “When is Copying Robot Designs for Competition Bad?”

Gemini (FLL Robot)

Gemini is the version of Proxima compatible with parts included in the Spike Prime (45678) set. This model was adapted to Spike prime by David Luders. Note that some additional Technic elements are necessary to supplement the parts included in the 45678 set.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This model is provided for inspiration ONLY! You cannot use my exact design if you intend on competing in a robotics competition, such as FLL, WRO, etc. Copying the designs of others is strongly discouraged and goes against the rules and core values of the competition. This robot uses the new LEGO steel bearing ball socket introduced with the EV3 robot. The LDD model does not yet have the ball bearing. So, a small plastic cup has been substituted. You could use a skid method or use a small caster wheel.

In this model the NXT Brick is embedded fairly deep within the robot. It is too deep to use with a USB cable. If you are using Bluetooth, then there should be no problem with this robot. If you are using a USB cable, can you re-design the robot to accommodate the USB port? What changes would you make?
