Lego ghostbusters lego dimensions

Обновлено: 28.04.2024

The festive season may have ended, but thanks to LEGO the goodies keep on coming. Outside of the Star Wars hype surrounding this past December, it’s safe to safe that LEGO Dimensions – with its plethora of licences, which include Doctor Who, The Simpsons and DC Comics – was one of the must-have toys to find under the tree this year.

We’re now three weeks into the new year and the game has just seen its third wave of add-on packs released, including a number of new characters and one particular pack that, as an 80’s child, I have been waiting for since the game first launched; the Ghostbusters level pack.

Ghostbusters has seen a massive revival in recent years, partly due to a movie reboot coming out later this year, but mainly thanks to the mechanising power of the LEGO brand. Yes, the new movie will see many of the original cast return for cameos, but sadly not reprising their roles, so Ray and co will not be heading to the big screen ever again. Many fans of the original movies are unhappy by this, but thanks to the construction toy company and their TT Games collaborators, there is a fix for that Venkman void.

The core LEGO Dimensions game, of course, has a level dedicated to the franchise. Batman and co enter a dimension filled to the brim with ghosts and General Zod running amok in downtown New York, many geeks leapt with joy when Batman announced that “he ain’t afraid of no ghosts”. The level gave us a hint at what was coming with brief appearances from the ghost-busting quartet with soundbites from the movie, but we never really got to see the guys in action.

Now, nearly four months after release, with my inner child fully pumped up for the meeting of one of my favourite movie franchises and my favourite toy company, has this pack really been worth the wait?

As this is LEGO Dimensions, this is more than just a game add-on, we get physical toys to build first.

The Ghostbusters level pack includes Bill Murray’s legendary character, Peter Venkman in minifigure form, ECTO-1, and the tool that every good Ghostbuster needs, one of the infamous Ghost Traps. It’s fair to say that Ghostbusters fans are going to be looking at this set even if they don’t currently own the LEGO Dimensions game, purely because of the minifigure. Much like Doctor Who, LEGO Ghostbusters began life as a LEGO Ideas submission which successfully became a commercial product, the ECTO-1 set. Outside of the recently-announced £275 Firehouse set, that original set was the only way of collectors getting their hands on a Ghostbuster in bricked form.

Much like the two other sets, the Venkman minifigure is impressively detailed, featuring the full tan jumpsuit and proton pack. While the legs are basic, one-tone with no design, the torso piece is incredible, to say the least. The front features every significant detail from the movie outfits, the belt, the arm straps for the proton pack and even a little name tag with the character’s initials on. The level of detail continues on the arms, which include elbow pads, the Ghostbusters logo and a pocket.

The choice of design on the back of the torso piece seems odd, featuring a back harness, the Ghostbusters logo and what looks like a sticker with “Peter” written on it, whether you’re a fan or not it doesn’t matter too much as this is completely covered over when the proton pack is in place. The head and hair pieces are the least interesting on the figure, both very generic with the hair being the same as that used for the twelfth Doctor minifigure, though in brown.

The proton pack design is a work of genius, featuring a number of small black pieces for the main body. The impressive design comes from the use of a whip piece – like what we’ve seen in Indiana Jones sets of the past – as the connection from the main block to the handpieces held by the Ghostbuster. A purpose printed circular piece is used to add the electronic details to the back of the proton pack and complete the outstanding look.

In-game Venkman has two abilities; you can charge up an attack with sends me spinning out of control towards the bad guys or the more conventional approach of using the proton pack. The pack’s laser can be used to cut through gold pieces, a rarity among LEGO Dimensions characters and one that is extremely useful for completionists.

I’m feeling a little ambivalent towards the ECTO-1 toy. On the one hand, it is beautifully detailed with a vast array of little add-ons for such a small amount of pieces, but, on the other hand, the fact that it doesn’t feature any back wheels annoys me. With every other vehicle I’ve used in LEGO Dimensions, Homer’s car or the Batmobile as examples, you can take the toy off of the stand and you have yourself a working car which a child can play with outside of the game, sadly this isn’t the case here.

Despite having only two wheels, a lot of effort has gone into recreating this iconic vehicle in microform and they’ve succeeded brilliantly. Even months later, I’m still impressed with how much detail the LEGO designers can get from so few pieces and that is no more evident than in the red tail fins or the detail on the vehicle’s roof. My one gripe about the overall look is that the designers have gone to the effort of including a purpose printed piece featuring the Ghostbusters logo for the back of the car, however, there is no such detail for the sides, as any fan would expect.

Like all of the other accessories and vehicles in LEGO Dimensions, there are two additional blueprints which can be unlocked in-game. ECTO-1 can be reconfigured into the Ecto-1 Blaster – which is essentially a water cannon on wheels – and the ECTO-1 Water Diver, a Ghostbusters-themed submarine.

The Ghost Trap looks amazing compared to its movie counterpart. The trap itself is built out of very simple pieces with two grey hinges used to simulate the trap opening and closing. The whole is actually more than just the trap, featuring a stand which looks like it is part of the containment unit. Like the ECTO-1 model, two additional blueprints can be unlocked in-game to allow you to turn the trap into a Ghost Stun ‘n’ Trap – basically a more advanced trap – and the Proton Zapper, which works in a similar way to Venkman’s proton pack.

With the building fun complete, let’s move on to the virtual in-game extras. Placing Venkman on the LEGO Dimensions toy pad will automatically unlock the exclusive level included within the pack, ‘A Spook Central Adventure’.

The level is essentially the story of the first Ghostbusters movie, shortened considerably, but unlike the Back To The Future pack still features all of the iconic scenes and characters. After the opening cut-scene in the library, the story quickly fast-forwards to the teams first big job, catching Slimer.

Once the green blob is safely trapped, we get a great recreation of the famous fridge scene with Dana, retold in a very LEGO way, before the story quickly moves forward to the point that a certain bearded government employee unleashes everything the Ghostbusters had contained back on to the streets of New York. It is at this point that we get a great chunk of gameplay time on the streets of New York, clearing up the ghosts and saving civilians on our way to Dana’s apartment building and the Ghostbusters meeting with Gozer and, more importantly, Mr Stay Puft.

While not quite as extensive as the impressive Doctor Who level pack, the Ghostbusters homage does more than enough to keep fans happy and ultimately give you value for money. Though the level jumps through the movie fairly quickly, the chunks of gameplay at the pivotal scenes are immensely satisfying and overall the play time is significantly longer than what we’ve seen from some of the earlier released level packs.

What is great though is that the exclusive level isn’t all you get from this pack, for there is more than meets the eye. As this is the first set to feature a LEGO Ghostbusters character, this is the first time that you’ll be able to unlock the franchise-specific open-world hub. Much like the other hub worlds, there are a number of unique collectable and side missions to complete, all tied into the Ghostbusters movies in some way – including a cameo from everyone’s favourite Carpathian, Vigo.

Another great addition and one that LEGO seems to have kept reasonably quiet is the ability to transform into any of the LEGO Ghostbusters. Much like the Doctor Who pack, once you’ve completed the main story you will open up the ability to play as multiple characters using the same physical piece – wherein Who that was the Doctor’s different incarnations, here it’s Ray, Egon and Winston. While the characters don’t differ much in their abilities, it is still nice to be able to play as any of the four, especially if you’re more of an Egon fan then Venkman.

Overall, the Ghostbusters level pack as a whole is well worth the asking price, in fact, it is only the second level pack I’d say that about, after the Doctor. With an exclusive level that brilliantly picks out the best bits of the classic first movie, to the hub open-world, you’re going to get hours of ghostbusting fun from this pack. There is plenty to explore and the ability to play as any of the quartet makes the pack even more appealing.

While I have minor issues with the model design of the ECTO-1, it is still a brilliant addition to the collection along with the trap which adds a completely new game dynamic to the experience in LEGO Dimensions.

This level pack is going to make Ghostbusters fans the world over scream, “Please make a full solo game….”.

Level Pack Plot

Help Peter Venkman and the rest of the Ghostbusters save New York (and the world!) from Gozer once and for all.

Walkthrough

Citizens in Peril

At the Sedgewick Hotel, two ghosts will take Janine Melnitz and trap her on a chandelier. To save her, you first need a character with Relic Detection Ability to uncover a drone pipeline and use a character with Drone Mazes Ability. Once you press all the switches, the chandelier will fall and Janine will be free.

Rule Breaker

Abilities needed to complete the Level 100%

Section One

University Professors Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, and Raymond Stantz had been fired from their original jobs at New York University for a commotion in the library with the Library Ghost, and have started a new business in the form of Ghostbusters. Right after Janine Melnitz got a call from Sedgewick Hotel, informing the men, Peter then immediately suits up and there are lockers for Egon and Ray that are not usable. You need to repair them so both Egon and Ray can suit up by collecting the bricks that can be accessed through using the Laser Ability, repairing some access bars, stopping electric currents in a rope and pushing a box out onto the floor. Once Spengler and Stantz are suited, the latter's locker spits out bricks for the Ecto-1 which the player will rebuild. This will lead to Ray's inability to control his proton beam getting pieces from an Acceleration Switch that the Ecto-1 or any land vehicle can power up to break through the gate of the firehouse.

Section Two

Once arriving at Sedgewick Hotel, the player meets up the Hotel Manager and encounter Slimer who then locks up the Alhambra Ballroom with a pack of ghosts and floating furniture blocking the way. Venkman will need to suspend the ghosts with Egon and Ray in order to prompt the building instructions for the Ghost Trap that will trap the pesky ghosts. Then, the player will shoot a proton beam onto the gold borders of the ballroom doors to get inside of the ballroom.

Section Three

When inside the ballroom, players will have to attack Slimer with protons beams and break the chandeliers he's hiding periodically, and when he goes to the central chandelier, Venkman then needs to build an acceleration switch to bring the chandelier down and Slimer out from hiding. Another set of Ghosts shows at the chandelier table; suspend them and bring out the Ghost Trap to trap them, and build a speed ramp from the table to plow through the giant buffet table. Slimer will then attack by sending floating furniture twice after that is done, the player will build a cake out from the broken table pieces that will distract Slimer and hit him with proton beams. This will prompt him to hide inside one of the three gold chafing dishes on a buffet table, although you need to suspend and trap another set of Ghosts to get to Slimer. Once the ghosts are taken care of, hit Slimer's golden chafing dish hiding spot (3rd one) with the proton beams, and he'll hide behind two lamps on the nearby bar, hit them with the proton beams, as this will make Slimer hide behind the bar. Proceed in building a water pump and a food mixer to get Slimer out of there and hit him with proton beams. He will hide behind a portrait which changes into his likeness and surrounded by more ghosts to get rid of before destroying the gold outlines of the painting, and hit Slimer again with more proton beams and destroy a table he will hide in. Then proceed in suspending and trapping Slimer afterward.

Section Four

Help Peter in getting back to Ghostbusters H.Q. from Sedgewick Hotel by driving any vehicle. The first obstacle involves a pool of tar, you'll need to wake the construction worker who's napping on his construction dozer. First, get to a bar on one dozer to bring down some parts to build a path to push a port-a-potty onto the tar to act as a bridge. Once that is done, wake the construction worker up and he'll bring up the dozer up for you to get across with its bar. Continue driving until you come across a scene of a bus accident; break some fire hydrants and a bus stop to form a speed ramp to get across from the sight, then continue driving until you reach Ghostbusters H.Q.

Section Five

Inside the Containment Unit, build two buttons (one on the floor, another on the wall panel), press them and a gold panel will show up. Proceed in destroying the gold panel to reveal a switch to activate the ghost containment unit and place all ghosts captured in the Ghost Trap into the unit.

Section Six

Thanks to Walter Peck's arrogant interference and disregarding the Ghostbusters' pleas, every single ghost has been unleashed and starting to act strangely with the upcoming arrival of Gozer the Gozerian. Get Peter to reach the Zuul-possessed Dana Barrett's apartment. Suspend and trap ghosts that are using the Stay Puft billboard as a blocking agent, then when reaching a Ghost-infested Speed Ramp, attack and trap them in order to get across the hole on the street. Continue driving until you come across another hole-ridden street and a pack of Ghosts floating a bus stop. Suspend and trap the ghosts then build a speed ramp from the bus stop to get across. When nearby the apartment, another set of Ghosts will block the way with some train carriages; suspend and trap the ghosts which will enable the train to pour LEGO bricks to build another Speed Ramp to get to the apartment. However, its electricity-powered security system then breaks downs, closing the doors shut. Break down gold doors of an ambulance to build a Ghost Trap disposal unit to gain access to the apartment.

Section Seven

Once inside the apartment, the first set of ghosts will try to block your path, so suspend and trap them. When reaching the elevators, a pair of Terror Dogs will show up and try to attack, so stun them first then beat them. Upon reaching the apartment, a trio of ghosts will appear and shield themselves with garbage can lids. Destroy a gold air heating pump and build a huge magnet from the bricks provided to remove the ghosts' defenses. Another set of Ghosts appear and suspend & trap them before proceeding.

Section Eight

Now with Gozer finally showing up and Dana and Louis being trapped inside their Terror Dog possessors' bodies, help the Ghostbusters (with Winston Zeddemore now in the group) in stopping Gozer from destroying New York and the world. First, destroy the gold lamps that power Gozer's electrical powers, then get all the pieces to build a push switch on one of two giant spotlights, and use that to turn Gozer's powers against it, blinding them enough to hit them with the proton beams. Try to avoid Gozer's attacks as much as possible, unless the character has the Electricity Ability which will enable them to be immune to their attacks. In the second round, Gozer will send some more Terror Dogs to attack, so destroy them as well. Do the same as before on Gozer. In the third round, Gozer will disappear from sight while the Ghostbusters try to blast them with proton beams. However, they will send in falling debris to cause harm to them, try to avoid them as much as possible as it demands them a form for it in Earth, which Ray will unknowingly suggests Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for it.

Section Nine

You now have to deal with a giant Stay Puft attacking you at any given moment. He will either shoot out hot molten marshmallows, slams his hands on the rooftop, sends in mini-version henchman versions of himself, or try to suck you up in the third round. In order to defeat him, destroy the gold items he would hold onto in an attempt to throw them at you in the end of each of the three rounds. In the end of round two, blast him to send him down to the ground. At the end of round three, build a Speed Ramp out of the remnants of the Gozer table to knock him down. With Stay Puft/Gozer down, join the rest of the Ghostbusters in destroying the gates of Gozer with proton beams to end Gozer's stay on Earth once and for all.

The first of hopefully many Story Packs that build on the Lego Dimensions universe is centered around the antics of the gals from 2016's Ghostbusters movie. However, does this blocky adaptation deserve a score better than its movie counterpart?

Lego Dimensions: Ghostbusters Story Pack screenshot 1

Abby and her trusty Ecto-1 ain't afraid of no ghosts

The following abilities become available for you to use throughout the Lego Dimensions universe when you purchase this Story Pack:

  • Abby Yates (and her pals): Use your proton pack to trap ghosts without the need of the ghost trap, use intelligence panels, suspend ghosts, use the laser attack, be protected from hazards, transfer charges (unique to this character), fix broken objects, use super strength
  • Ecto-1 transformations: Ecto-1 (activate accelerator switches, use tow bar), Ectozer (activate accelerator switches, use tow bar, special attack, break cracked Lego objects), The PerfEcto (use electricity, spray water, fly, sail on water)

The six levels included in the Story Pack are quite lengthy and a joy to play and they quickly set the tone of the movie. It begins by showing Erin Gilbert struggling to be taken seriously after publishing a failing book about ghosts. Abby (Erin's friend) soon convinces her to go on one last ghost-busting excursion before giving up and Abby's faith in the existence of the paranormal is soon rekindled in the hijinks that ensue. Two more ladies join the party pretty soon and you can switch between all four of them on the fly. Being able to see all of the characters on the screen at once and control which one you're playing as felt like a superior control system when compared to how it works in the adventure world as you have to manually change Abby to the different characters one at a time there.

The gang starts out investigating a haunted mansion and soon faces the first boss. One great thing about this Story Pack is that there's a boss in every level. This extends the time to complete the levels while at the same time switching up the gameplay. After you've dealt with the nasty apparition, you'll go down to the subway where you'll learn the new portal ability called RIP. This opens up a gateway to an area in two different time zones where you solve puzzles to send blocks back that can then be used to progress. It doesn't feel as special as the original abilities that are included in the base game but it adds some extra play time by giving you new areas to explore. After the subway romp, you'll spend some time in the lobby of the Mercado Hotel where things go to a whole other level.

When you finally take down Rowan in the basement of the Mercado Hotel, he opens a portal that spews hundreds of ghosts into the streets of New York City. The last half of the levels have you canvassing those streets and working on a plan to lock the ghouls up for good. The city is partially destroyed as you walk through it and teeming with ghosts. Speaking of the city, you transition between levels by walking around the adventure world and the Story Pack does a great job at tying the two together. There were even a few times when I wasn't sure if I was playing a level or working on a task in the adventure world. Seeing as you can't easily access the adventure world until you've completed all of the levels, it made me excited to finish them so I could explore it freely. Anyway, there are some pretty awesome boss fights in the later levels that have you taking on giant ghosts of popular characters such as Doctor Robotnik from Sonic and the Ice King from Adventure Time. In the final fight, you switch to Erin to break down the ghost's barrier then zap away once it's down. I really like how each of the Ghostbusters has a unique ability that must be used to get through the levels.

Lego Dimensions: Ghostbusters Story Pack screenshot 3

Why are these ghosts lined up to see Ghost Smashers 3?

Upon freeing the streets from ghosts, you can explore as you please and take in the sights of the city. Unfortunately, there aren't many places of interest and it just comes across as a standard city with a couple of notable areas such as Chinatown (home of the team's base) and Times Square that houses giant floats modeled after a few of the bosses. I was disappointed with the city in the Level Pack but the one included in this Story Pack is actually more lacking and makes the first one seem unique in comparison. The city is small but the addition of being able to traverse the subway and change the time to be either day or night adds some extra replay value.

One thing that immediately impressed me is the voice acting. It's as clear as you could ask for and seems like it was recorded specifically for the game. There are so many silly antics that happen and when the voices match up to what's going on with perfect timing, it helps keep the illusion of a living Lego world. This is in comparison to other packs that simply lifted lines straight from their respective movies. There were many laugh-out-loud moments in the cutscenes here, too. I loved how Rowan found it easy to command the police force to suddenly start dancing like ballerinas as well as when he simply just stood there eating a hamburger at the end of the last level as if he didn't do anything wrong. I can safely say that the humorous spirit of the movie is well represented in this Lego pack.

Unfortunately, I had many technical issues when playing the levels that I feel need to be mentioned as the severity of them impacted my ability to enjoy the pack. Firstly, I got stuck inside a ghost twice. I think it happens when you're trying to suck up ghosts that are far away then another one attacks you and you can't complete the quick-time event to trap the ghosts. Whenever this happened, my only choice was to quit and restart. The second issue was just an outright crash when I was making my way to the next level. Thankfully, my save data and hardware was still okay and I didn't lose any progress because I wasn't in a level at the time.

The final issue that caused me to waste over an hour was that I kept getting stuck in the middle of the "Battle for Times Square" level. There's a part where you're supposed to suck up ghosts that are blocking the path then walk down a street to watch the next scene but it just wouldn't trigger for me. I attempted this four times without any luck. On the fifth try, I completed it using only Ghostbusters characters and it finally worked. All of these technical problems made the pack seem rushed and not tested thoroughly. That being said, Lego games in general are notorious for glitches, probably due to their open-ended gameplay.

How could you not dance with Ray Parker Jr. playing on the sound system?

Bugs and useless gateways aside, the Ghostbusters Story Pack is a ton of fun and the levels are top-notch. I haven't watched the movie but playing this pack makes me want to check it out and see if the humour on display here matches the live action.

Lego Dimensions title screen.jpg

Lego Dimensions is an action-adventure game in which Lego versions of various franchises cross-over. It follows the toys-to-life format that Skylanders started where the game comes with a portal on which you place Lego figures which you can then use in the game. Sonic is one of the characters in the second series of packs released for the game. He was included in a Level Pack, along with a build for the Sonic Speedster and the Tornado. Sonic also voiced an ad for promoting the "Knight Rider" Lego Dimensions Pack.

Contents

Story (Main Game)

Batman from DC Comics, Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie, Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, and many other characters must embark on an adventure across the many dimensions to stop the evil Lord Vortech, who plots to use the "Foundation Elements" scattered across dimensions to rule over all existence.

Story (Ghostbusters (2016))

During the fourth chapter of the Ghostbusters (2016) Story Pack, "Breaking the Barrier", a boss fight against a possessed Eggman parade balloon takes place. The balloon fires laser blasts and missiles at the Ghostbusters while Buzz Bomber ghosts appear from the sides to attack. The Eggman balloon is ultimately defeated by inflating a Sonic balloon that comes to life and attacks it, exposing its weak points and allowing the Ghostbusters to send it flying. In the accompanying Adventure World, a purchasable renovation allows the Sonic balloon to be installed above Times Square.

Story (Sonic Dimensions)

The story starts with a LEGO-styled Sonic 1 title screen. A LEGO version of Sonic is seen taking a stroll through Green Hill Zone, destroying Dr. Eggman's infiltrating robots. Once the player takes Sonic to the end, he finds a Goal Post with a Warp Ring above it. He jumps into the ring and ends up in a Special Stage styled after Sonic The Hedgehog 2. He reaches the end and finds a Chaos Emerald waiting for him. He heads back to Tails' Workshop in hopes of getting there before Dr. Eggman does, but unfortunately for him, the doctor was able to reach the workshop before him. He tied up Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Big, in an attempt to make Sonic give up the last Chaos Emerald, which would give him possession of all seven Emeralds. He also reveals he is in possession of a Keystone Device, one of the main game's key weapons, attached to the front of his Egg Mobile. This allows him to access any dimension, as well as summon any object or being he wants to in order to achieve his plan of not only world domination, but this time universal domination. This ambush plan fails however, as Sonic distracts him long enough (by complimenting his mustache) to rescue Tails and the others, except for Amy, who seems to have gone missing. Eggman's Keystone Device starts to malfunction for unknown reasons, automatically activating multiple portals to other dimensions, which suck up not only much of the terrain of Green Hill, but also Knuckles, Shadow, Big, and Eggman himself. Sonic tells Tails that he's gonna go after Eggman, while telling Tails to come up with a plan. He leaves Tails, who seems a bit lost on how to start his part of the plan.

On the other side of Sonic's portal, he ends up in Emerald Coast from Sonic Adventure. But before he can recall where he is, a killer whale starts to chase him. He manages to outrun it, but get stuck on a lone island. He ends up destroying enough objects on the island to allow him to use the LEGO pieces to build himself a car, the Sonic Speedster. He uses it to jump on ramps he also builds to get from island to island, until he finally reaches Eggman at the end of the coast. He manages to stop the doctor with his new vehicle, but Eggman manages to escape into another portal. Sonic jumps through it and enters another Special Stage. He obtains the second Chaos Emerald, and meets up with Eggman in what appears to be the Death Egg.

Eggman reminds Sonic that he can summon any enemy he wants to, including Sonic's past metal counterparts. He first summons Mecha Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog 2 16-bit boss) from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (named Robo Sonic in this game), though he doesn't prove much of a challenge. He then summons Mecha Sonic (Sonic & Knuckles boss) from Sonic and Knuckles, but he also manages to be defeated. Finally, the doctor manages to find a Metal Sonic from Sonic CD, but a version in which he managed to beat Sonic during the events of the Little Planet fiasco. They both put up a good fight until Metal Sonic ends up going into an automatic hyperdrive, which gives Sonic just enough of an advantage to destroy him much to Eggman's dismay. The victory is short lived however, as the Keystone Device starts to malfunction once again from parts flying into it, creating more portals to other dimensions. Eggman escapes, with Sonic giving chase. However one more portal opens once Sonic leaves, revealing a familiar water monster is left to ruminate on the Death Egg.

Sonic goes through another Special Stage and obtains the third Emerald, where he reaches his new destination: Metropolis Zone. After going through some of the smaller robotic threats, he comes to a security room, guarded by two E-Series robots. Before he has much time to think about it, Tails appears on a monitor above him. He gives Sonic some advise on how to go about destroying the guards, and creates a portal himself using some tech he finds to teleport himself and Sonic's plane, the Tornado. Before he goes through though, the Tornado comes back into pieces, leaving Tails to think twice about going through just yet, though he does find the instructions to help Sonic rebuild his plane. After building it, Sonic uses it to shoot down Eggman, who is flying above Metropolis looking out for the hedgehog. He manages to escape through a portal before any real damage to his Egg Mobile is done. Sonic follows through, goes into another Special Stage, collects the fourth Emerald, and heads on into Marble Zone. There, he meets up with Omochao, much to his distaste. While Omochao offers him 'helpful' advice on how to proceed, Sonic goes through solving the puzzles in the area to find a way out. While Omochao tries to help out, he eventually gets lost somewhere, but quickly catches up with Sonic before he finds Eggman again. They duke it out once more, Eggman escapes, Sonic follows, he enters another Special Stage, and retrieves the fifth Emerald.

While in the dimensional rift, Sonic catches up the Eggman and tears off the Keystone Device from his Egg Mobile. He uses it to temporarily throw Eggman into another dimension. Once the doctor is dealt with, he uses the device to summon some terrain from Green Hill for him to land on. He then summons back Omochao, Knuckles, Shadow, and Big onto the terrain. Sonic lets everyone know he obtained the device, and Knuckles suggests that Sonic would be best to fix the situation since he possess the device. Sonic reminds him however that there are still two Chaos Emeralds somewhere. Big then remembers that he saw one at what he describes to be the Labyrinth Zone. Petrified about the idea of going back there, he reluctantly agrees to go to obtain the Emerald.

He overcomes his fears in the Lost Labyrinth from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and finds another Special Stage ring. He enters it and collects the sixth Emerald. He meets up with his friends and lets them know he got the Emerald. Tails then shows up frantically in the Tornado 2 telling Eggman has rebuilt the Death Egg. Sonic goes along with Tails to go and finally finish off the doctor. Once Sonic arrives, Eggman appears in his Death Egg Robot from Sonic 2, containing the last emerald inside. After a long scrumish, Sonic is able to take down the robot. As Sonic taunts Eggman for running away so easily, the doctor reveals he isn't running from Sonic, but rather the site behind Sonic. Chaos, who was teleported here earlier from the Mecha Sonic fight, has managed to harness some kind of power to grow in both size and strength. Chaos takes the Keystone Device that Tails was holding onto for Sonic and gains the Elemental Powers it holds from the main game's story. Eggman appears on a monitor telling Sonic to destroy Chaos for he damages his Death Egg, but when asked to give Sonic the Emerald so he can turn into Super Sonic, he refuses. Sonic is able to hold him off for a bit, but isn't able to due much due to his increased power. Eventually, Amy finally shows up from Eggman's monitor to smack him aside with her Piko Piko Hammer. She takes the final Emerald and gives it to Sonic. Sonic then goes into his Super form, which helps him easily defeat Chaos then teleporting him into another dimension. With the damages done to the Death Egg due to Sonic's fight with Chaos, it starts to fall apart. Amy starts to fall off the opening of the Death Egg, but luckily Super Sonic manages to create a portal for Amy to go back home before she falls to her doom, leaving Eggman behind to plan his revenge once again. Sonic thanks Tails for his help as they go through the portal, leaving their fate unknown, but implying things go back to normal.

The ending of the Sonic Dimensions story was meant to transition into a later story chapter, which would converge stories set up in other level packs and explain what happened to Lord Vortech following the events of the main story. However, due to the cancellation of the game's planned third year of content, this chapter was never released and the cliffhanger was left unresolved.
