10228 Haunted House is a Monster Fighters set released in September 2012. It contains 2064 pieces, making it the theme's largest set. It contains the minifigures Lord Vampyre, Zombie Chef, Vampyre's Bride, two Ghosts, and the Zombie Butler. The Zombie chef and Zombie Butler are exclusive to the set.

• This is the first Creator set with the 18+ age rating.
• This set features multiple callbacks to previous sets:
  is the namesake of the Manor Von Barron and appears as a portrait in this set. Baron was the main antagonist of the Adventurers theme.
  • Two Anubis-Statues from 5988 Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins appear above the organ.
  • The head of the Sphinx from 5978 Sphinx Secret Surprise appears as a decoration on the wall of the elevator shaft. An obelisk similar to the one featured in the same set also appears.
    • The hieroglyphs on the Obelisk spell Ogel.

    Lore notes in instruction manual

    The instruction manual for this set includes lore notes describing the story background for certain objects in this set. Many of these objects are references to previous Adventurers theme sets, as well as references to the Alpha Team theme and the Junkbot online game. Below are all the lore notes included in the manual:

    • The Idol of Everest - Snatched from an Everest mountain temple, it is said the tendrils reach out into the unknown. It also makes a great coat rack.
    • The Obelisk of Evil - Von Barron stole this obelisk because it had the most evil inscription he had ever seen.
    • The Organ of Catarino - Von Barron had this organ custom built in Portugal. He mostly used it to play TV show theme songs.
    • The Heads of Anubis - Air-lifted out of the Temple of Anubis, supposedly they are "just for decoration, that's it and that's all."
    • The Face of Sphinx - The very first Egyptian item that the Baron stole, the entire manor was built around it.
    • The Escape Plan - Von Barron lined the Face of Sphinx with dynamite, just in case any curses came along with it.
    • The Golden Dingus - As Von Barron reached out for the Golden Dingus, the Yeti suddenly appeared and ate his left hand! Luckily, he already had a hook for a left hand, so he simply replaced it with another.
    • The Orb of OGEL - A prototype for the mind-control superweapon used by the Evil OGEL Empire. Von Barron always kept one handy "for a rainy day."
    • The Box of Junk - A heavy, dusty box of junk. A faded sticker reads "I Love Trash".
    • The Altar of Alhazred - It is unknown for what dark rites this heavy-looking stone table was originally intended. The Baron used it for light reading on rainy days.
    • The Forbidden Skeleton - Some say Sam Sinister's car exploded while running from the law, leaving only his skeleton and top hat behind. Some say there was once a third twin butler. No one knows for sure.
    • The Portrait of Samuel von Barron - As the portrait was finished, a strange glow started emanating from the ruby. Trapped in the Mummy's curse, von Barron was driven mad by Pharaoh Hotep's terrible jokes.
    • The Resonator - In a failed attempt to harness the power of the Re-Gou Ruby with this device, von Barron accidentally summoned two friendly spirits from beyond.
    • The Madman's Elevator - "How's my elevator to nowhere? It has its ups and downs. aaaHAHAHAaaaHA!" -The Mad Baron

    Description

    The set consists of three parts: the gate, the massive mansion, and the six minifigures.

    The Mansion

    The big mansion measures 15.4" (39cm) high, 9.4" (24cm) wide and 7.5" (19cm) deep. It consists of three floors. Also even though it's a little bit smaller than Vampyre Castle, its box is larger because of the higher piece count.

    The first and second floor are the kitchen, an empty living room (possibly previous furniture was removed due to hauntings), office for writing letters, and a bedroom with paintings, lamps and a skull of a deer on the walls, a human heart and a closet. The kitchen had ovens, stoves, and a very large table with bottles, jars and a large bowl cooking a snake. Also had a large grey old spider web, maybe there was a refrigerator where the spider web is. The floor of the first floor was very cracked and ruined.

    The third floor was the attic, which included many details like knight's helmet, gun, chest with top hat, music player, CDs, newspapers, skull, bone in glass and more bottles and jars. Also included a crate for the cds and newspapers and a staircase leading from the second floor to the attic.
