Heroes of Hidden Side: Jack Davids
Middle-school student by day, Newbury’s self-admitted-close-second-best-ghost-hunter-right-after-Parker* by night, and a live-streamer round the clock. (Make sure you like and subscribe!) It turns out, Jack’s vlog is actually the perfect cover for our team of ghost-hunting heroes because everyone assumes the ghosts are animated. But if Jack is serious about attracting enough subscribers to get his coveted Sapphire Play Button and work with his idol, Rami – and he is – he may have to choose his battles wisely. * Well, it’s because there was this one time, he ran out of battery in the middle of a ghost battle. And then there was that other time when he didn’t realize Parker was gloomed because he was so preoccupied with live view counts. So… still, second-best! Yay!

Student by day, ghost-hunter by night, live-streamer all the time! That’s Jack. Moving to Newbury wasn’t easy at first, what with being the new kid at school in a boring little town, and also his mom’s the headmaster, and the whole thing was just ugh. But now things are going great for Jack, and his vlog has really taken off. He may be spending just a little too much time making videos, though – especially after he meets his idol, vlogging superstar Rami. What’s the rest of the ghost-hunting squad going to say? Is his friendship with Parker about to take a hit as he chases more clicks and views? Nah, don’t think so. Those two are inseparable!

Anomalo is a bizarre mix of human and cockroaches (yes, plural). He has an insatiable appetite for bacon and has won plenty of eating contests in his life – and afterlife. Anomalo was a powerful tool in Lady E.’s soul essence-collecting plot back when his seafood restaurant was a popular high-class establishment. He’s nothing but a crude butcher with a sinister agenda. J.B. is the awesome brain behind the entire ghost-hunting operation, and she doesn’t seem to be running out of ideas. In fact, we’d say her ideas only get more epic with time! For example, when her Sweet Sally school bus runs into a spot of trouble, J.B. gets right back to work and creates… a ghost-hunting fire truck! And it’s fully decked out, too. Could a ghost-hunting submarine be in the cards? Stay tuned.

Parker L. Jackson has got a lot going on. She’s super into ghost hunting, for one thing. Sneaking out in the middle of the night to go on a wild ghost chase sure beats any other sport! On top of that, she’s just met her great-great-great-great-grandfather Vaughn G. Jackson, a legendary ghost-hunter who’s… also a ghost!? And on top of THAT, it feels her best friend Jack is getting distracted by his new bud, Rami the vlogging star. Like we said, that’s a lot to take in. Gaah!

Heroes of Hidden Side: El Fuego
Contrary to what Jack’s viewers believe, El Fuego, aka Douglas, is NOT an animation. He’s the muscle of the team. Well, strictly speaking, he doesn’t have any muscles, or a body, for that matter. The former school groundskeeper/stuntman/ghost hunter was sucked into the Hidden Side when he defeated Lady E. His spirit latched onto a skeleton in the science classroom, so now he can pull off even wilder stunts during hunts. He can just pull himself together if/when he blows up, falls apart or/and sustains otherworldly damage.

What is The Maw?
Eons old, the Maw is a gigantic, indestructible creature-type-thing. You know, the ultimate destroyer and insatiable devourer of worlds. It travels in dimensions beyond ours, beyond the Hidden Side, beyond our comprehension, really. So yes, it would be kind a of big threat to Newbury, and pretty much the rest of the world, too, if it ever came to these parts of our universe. It doesn’t seem all that likely, though, does it? Does it?

Most Wanted Ghosts: Kreatoru
Back in the day, the deep sea diver looted treasures from sunken ships as lighthouse keeper Joe Ishmael’s partner in crime. Now half deep-sea-diver, half angler-fish, this contorted creature (still) looks all kinds of crooked. His enormous suction mouth will make your jaw drop with awe and/or fear and/or disgust. Ew, gross! It will latch onto anything or anyone in the waters of Fatal Reef and crumple ships, sail boats and submarines like soda cans.

Joe Ishmael
Joe’s pretty vile in the Hidden Side, but honestly, he really wasn’t any nicer back in Newbury. He used to be the lighthouse keeper there, and he went completely mad and started switching off the lighthouse on purpose to make ships crash into the cliffs below. Now he’s a massive ghost, as big as the lighthouse itself, with a bad attitude to match. The good news for our heroes is that he has a weakness: his creepy eyes.

El Fuego
For most people, getting pulled into the Hidden Side isn’t exactly good news. But Douglas Elton isn’t like most people. He is the school groundskeeper by day, reckless stuntman by night – or he was, until he sacrificed himself to keep the vile Lady E. from entering Newbury. Now he’s come back as a ghost, inhabiting a plastic skeleton from the science classroom, and putting his awesome stunt skills to good use hunting ghosts with no bodily damage. Wohoo! When life turns you into a ghost… make ghost lemonade.

Well, well, well. What do we have here? It’s Lady E.’s brand-new ghost recruit. Dale crossed into the Hidden Side after accidentally walking in front of a truck – a good reminder to always look both ways before you cross the road! He loves cars and trucks, and he used to steal lots of them when he was still alive. A ghost car thief on a rampage? This is going to be wild!

Heroes of Hidden Side: Parker L. Jackson
Meet THE best ghost-hunter in Newbury, at least in this century. Parker is a fearless light orb sharp-shooter, proud cat person, and still Jack’s bestie, of course. Nothing could ever change that, could it? Her mad ghost-hunting skills run in the family: her great-great-great-great grandpa was the legendary Vaughn Geist Jackson who – well, just wait till you hear more about him. Oh, right, and she goes to school, too, by the way. But only because she absolutely HAS to. (Yaaaawwn.)

Lady Evelina D'Ombre (also known as Lady E. or The Lady for short) is the former leader of the Ghosts. She had many connections to most of the Ghosts and is tied to or responsible for many dark points in Newbury's history.

Appearance
In the painting, she is shown wearing what looks to be a white 19th Century Walking Dress with a red sash around the waist, a light green brooch and a wide, white sun hat with a pink ribbon around it. Her skin is in the normal minifigure yellow and had wavy black hair that went down past the shoulders.
In "Don't Choke Now", a picture of her can be seen in Shrimp Shack wearing the same white dress.
Later, when Captain Archibald pours the concoction onto her portrait, it changes her form on the painting into a skeleton with an evil grin.
When she briefly returned to Newbury, before being forced back into the Hidden Side, she resembled more of a skeletal serpent with a human skull. Her hat and hair remain mostly unchanged, though her hat does have a few tiny holes in it.
As a Ghost she looks the same as her portrait except that her entire body is white and has no legs, her hat and dress are torn and the cameo brooch is replaced by a necklace with a red pendant. However, in the Hidden Side, her entire body is dark green.
As an Anger Ghost, she looks like a more nightmarish version of her former self with her white clothes having turned to a darker color, her skin being white and her hair standing out as if they were snakes. Unlike other Anger Ghosts, the only parts of her body that are red are her eyes, her pendant and a red glow that surrounds her.

She doesn't make a physical appearance in any of the sets, but a painting of her is shown in 70425 Newbury Haunted High School. She also appears as the Boss Ghost in 70427 Welcome to the Hidden Side.
Abilities
Hidden Portal (App)
Lady E. can deploy a temporary portal of a random color on the ground.
Gloom
Lady E., like all Ghosts, can throw balls of Gloom on her enemies to harm them or to haunt buildings or objects.
Possession
Lady E., like all Ghosts, can possess Humans and turn them into Gloombies.
Much about her history is currently unknown, except that she appeared to be someone prominent in Newbury sometime in the 19th century as she was a high-class citizen, the Newbury High School has a portrait of her in the hallway from back when it used to be a work mill, and she served as a judge in bacon-eating contests. However, from the bios available from some of the ghosts in the Hidden Side, the following is known:
- She was once a good friend of Belulah, who taught her a few "tricks" before Evelina eventually tricked her and made her into a ghostly minion.
- She apparently had a Ball taking place at her home[1] at some point, which James waitered at before he went missing.
- At an unknown time, she got in contact with Dr. Drewell and manipulated him into conducting horrible experiments to further her pursuit for eternal youth.
- At one point, she recruited Captain Archibald to serve as her chief officer.
- With the aid of Mamali, she managed to harvest the soul essence of an unknown number of people while still keeping up the appearance that she was a young girl by having Mamali pose as her nanny.
- Evelina served as a judge at one of the many bacon-eating contests Anomalo had won. Anomalo would also help Evelina in gathering soul essence when his seafood restaurant was a popular high-class establishment.
- A portrait of her was painted in 1888.
However, Vaughn G. Jackson dragged Lady E into the Hidden Side sacrificing himself to do so. She succeeded in taking over the Hidden Side and unleashed its massive population of Ghosts upon Newbury to collect Soul Essence and Soul Artifacts to bring her back to Newbury.
Season 1
Face Your Fears
Lady E. is first seen in a portrait in a hallway of Newbury High School that Parker and Jack encounter while searching the building for ghosts.
Don't Choke Now
While looking for Spencer at the Shrimp Shack, Parker finds an old photograph of Anomalo with Lady E. back when they were still alive. Parker takes a closer look at the photo, only for Lady E to smirk at her.
Skeleton in the Closet
The Boss Ghosts reunite at Newbury High School during the night of the Blood Moon and perform a ritual to bring Lady E. back from the Hidden Side. Despite the Ghost Hunters' interference, Lady E. manages to return to the Human World after the moon light covers her portrait until Douglas jumps towards her and blocks the light, which results in Lady E. being dragged back to the Hidden Side, although she manages to take Douglas with her when he lands on her portrait. When Douglas manages to return to the Ghost Hunters, he informs them that Lady E. is furious and will eventually find another way to return.
Season 2
Grave Situation
As Jack is brought to the Hidden Side, she pretends to be crying to lure Jack to get closer and comfort her. That's when she reveals her true identity and frees all of the Boss Ghosts Jack had captured on his phone. Lady E then offers Jack to join them but he refuses so the Boss Ghosts attempt to kill Jack but he is able to escape thanks to the help of a stranger. Lady E., however, had hoped for this and happily says "That's it, Run to your friends. Show me the way." as Jack and the stranger drives off in the distance.
The Great Escape
Lady E and Axel Chops wait for Jack and Vaughn to open the gate to the Living Side, the Anger Ghost tries to attack them before Lady E stops him. When the gate finally opens the Anger Ghost attacks Vaughn while Lady E tries to pass through the gate and manages to do so just before the gate closes. She gloats over her victory and reveals her plans to take over the world before fleeing to the Fatal Reef Lighthouse while the Ghost Hunters follow her.
The Lighthouse, Part 1
Lady E flies towards the Lighthouse, where Mamali, Dr. Drewell, Harry Cane and Samuel Mason wait for her. Lady E announces that she was finally going to lift the veil between the Hidden Side and Living Side and rule over Newbury. The Boss Ghosts all cheer and Mamali flies over to Lady E and tells her that she will help with anything she needs so Lady E gently holds Mamali's face and tells her that for her to take over Newbury so just needs one thing. their souls. Lady E then steals her followers' souls, resulting their apparent "death", without any remorse before entering the lighthouse and summoning Joe Ishmael to kill the Ghost Hunters.
The Hunters eventually defeat the Boss Ghost but Lady E had already opened too many portals to the Hidden Side.
The Lighthouse, Part 2
Lady E opens up many portals all over Newbury while Jack and Parker eventually arrive to the lighthouse although she manages to dodge all their attacks while taunting them in the process until uses her power to push them off the top of the lighthouse although they are saved by Douglas.
J.B. suggests a way to stop Lady E.: causing Sweet Sally to explode. Since she insists that it is the only way, Jack, Parker, and J.B. get into the bus. While J.B. drives toward the lighthouse, Jack and Parker press all the buttons. Once they have done so, they go to the front of the bus to shoot at all the Ghosts Lady E. sends to block the way.
As they get closer to the lighthouse, they all jump out, and watch the bus explode into Ghost-trapping energy. They find Lady E. on the ground, unable to move, and J.B. captures her with her phone.

Oh, did you think ghosts could only be human? Not necessarily. Spencer was Jack’s best friend in the whole wide world. He still is, even though. look, it’s complicated. Shortly before his move to Newbury, Jack lost Spencer in a tragic traffic accident. But now, thanks to the haunting of Newbury, Spencer is back as a (mostly) invisible ghost dog. He’s still as lively as any puppy in ghost form can be, fiercely loyal to Jack, but also easily distracted. Especially by bacon.

Most Wanted Ghosts: Maxine Turbo
Maxine was born with jet fuel in her veins, which may or may not have contributed to her untimely death in a pretty unfortunate crash. Okay, most crashes are pretty unfortunate. Now, the only thing that flows through her ghostly remains is gloom. But that’s never stopped her from having (and causing) a blast at the racetrack. Nothing makes racing drivers drive like bats out of the Hidden Side like having a ghost hot on their tailpipes. Fasten your seatbelt and hold on to your helmet if you think you can beat her.

Imagine rats. Lots and lots of rats, trained by a twisted ghost to attack and fight. That’s what you get when you cross paths with Rat Shaun, a former bank robber who escaped into the Newbury sewers as he ran away from the cops, got lost in there, and. never came back to the surface again. Now he haunts the abandoned Newbury subway tunnels. Next stop: Rat Station. We’re not getting off there, no way.

A former fire-fighter and pyromaniac, Blaze M. Barr had the best of both worlds. He was living the dream. No one ever figured out his secret – that he happily started most of those fires he so bravely extinguished in Newbury. Oh, well.
