76178 Daily Bugle is unlike any LEGO set I’ve built before. It’s part modular building, part playset, part diorama and it does all of these things really well. The accompanying host of minifigures are integrated into the design of the building itself, and sometimes quite spectacularly, too - as is the case of the Green Goblin bursting through the window of the second floor.

I analysed its pieces last time but there’s a ton of interesting building techniques, parts usage, and little details scattered throughout the build to still discuss. We’ll work our way up the building and take a look at them.

Ground Floor of the LEGO Daily Bugle

Starting at street level, there’s a news kiosk sitting in the shadow of the towering skyscraper. It makes use of those rare Green SNOT panels we talked about in the parts review.

It’s the perfect combination of parts with the thin panels providing ample space inside and the interior is accessible thanks to a clever clip and bar connection. An air conditioning unit (?) on the back helps conceal some of the ugly anti-studs.

The taxi accompanying the build has its fair share of clever NPU. There’s an exhaust pipe hanging off the bottom in the form of a Weapon Gun / Pistol Flintlock (2562).

But the headlights are what had me really impressed with this build. Those newly recoloured Yellow modified plates house a Technic pin, into which we insert a flick-fire missile to attach the headlights. It’s no Speed Champions but it’s still very clever!

Front and centre of the first floor façade you might notice a few Trans Clear bricks and in particular, a minifig posing stand. In the instructions manual the set designer Mark Stafford reveals that the set was intentionally designed to showcase the colourful cast of characters included in the set and this particular place is reserved for Daredevil, his favourite character from the comic books. It’s a fitting tribute to a character beloved by many and a minifigure that fans have long waited for.

The parts for Sandman are included along with the first floor. He is held aloft by a vortex of sand. Hinges are responsible for the slight arching shape and there are plenty more SNOT bricks to position the variety of Dark Bluish Grey tile broken paving slabs.

When placed on the pavement outside the Bugle and viewed at the right angle, the effect is quite convincing.

Unlike the floors above, the ground floor does not feature a removable front window. Instead, a sizeable section of the wall can be pulled out to allow access within. It's a cleverly concealed feature as the small gaps between the segments look like gaps in the masonry at first glance. You’ll notice here that the designers have included a couple of Technic holes to compliment an existing modular building layout.

Into the lobby, and we have a bright red vending machine containing four Dark Azure cans of ‘Web Juice’, according to the sticker on the side of the appliance. It isn’t functional, but it looks great. As you’ll see, the Daily Bugle offices are fully furnished with a number of cleverly constructed little fixtures such as this. This small build makes great use of SNOT elements, but the bottom of a headlight element to represent the coin return is genius. The keypad on the machine is a currently quite uncommon printed 1x1 tile, 6329583 Tile 1 x 1 with Keypad, Blue Slit, Red Button print (73777).

In the alleyway behind sit a couple of dumpsters filled with rubbish, including a couple of mouldy hotdogs! I’ve seen Sand Green sausages a number of times before, but I think this is the first time (at least for me) to see this specific element used in this way. Note the clever light fixture above the fire exit too, it uses Black paint roller handles in its construction.

First Floor of the LEGO Daily Bugle

On one wall we have a cute little kitchenette, complete with coffee jug. It’s extremely simple but efficient parts usage.

My favourite detail on this floor might be the writer’s desk lamp. As with the coffee jug, I’m impressed at how effectively just a few parts convey a distinctive shape, this time it’s the unmistakable design of an Emeralite (or banker’s lamp, apparently. I recognized the shape but didn’t realize it had a name).

And finally, no office would be complete without a water cooler, and we have a LEGO replica sitting by the back wall. Like the news kiosk outside, the build utilizes a ‘nipple’ (or 1x1 round tile with bar, 20482) to reverse the directions of studs, this time to create a pretty accurate water tank. The design even uses two shades of trans clear bricks to represent the water level. Just wonderful!

Second Floor of the LEGO Daily Bugle

On to the second floor, and I think the designers have tried to create the impression that Peter Parker drew the short straw with his office placement. The floor is littered with boxes and paper stacks which, along with a filing cabinet, obstruct the doorway to Peter’s room.

On the second floor we’re treated to another fantastic brick-built piece of office furniture, this time a photocopier. The cover even opens to reveal the scanner inside, represented by a window element. I think the only thing that might improve the design would be the incorporation of a control panel, perhaps like the one used on the vending machine on the ground floor?

As mentioned, the second floor is also the location of Peter Parker’s office- you probably recognize it from a meme. What a great inclusion in the design! It houses a rather grand desk which is created quite cleverly with some inset tiles. And on the wall is what looks like a bulletin board covered in post-it notes.

I was most excited to build the second floor as it depicts a dramatic scene of Green Goblin smashing through it on his glider.

The construction of this dynamic scene isn’t as complicated as it appears: I expected some interesting trigonometry and thought-out angles to fix the individual panels in place, but each element of the deconstructed window (there are four) is connected to the main structure by a Mixel joint. A simple solution but you can’t argue with the results- the scene looks amazing.

The window of this floor carries a little extra weight and extends out further than those above and below it, so there are a couple of extra concealed attachment points to prevent it from falling out. In this case, it is in the form of the anti-studs of a headlight brick. The designers have made good use of The System to seal off the window. I noticed that without this connection, this window panel would fall out if the one below it is also removed.

The construction of this area had me curious as there are two 1x2 plates with rail incorporated into the structure that don’t line up with the rest of the masonry. It turns out that the set actually includes enough pieces to build a complete (intact) window sans Green Goblin. In a Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' session, designer Mark Stafford confirmed that this was an intentional design choice. I thoroughly recommend checking out the thread as he talks about a number of Easter eggs hidden in the build and offers some interesting insights into the development of the set. Personally, the depiction of Green Goblin bursting through the facade is one of my favourite parts of the model, but maybe this may be an appealing feature for Modular Building fans as they can include a slightly more discreet version of the building to include in their city layouts. If you can call an almost 90cm tall LEGO skyscraper discreet.

Third Floor of the LEGO Daily Bugle

The third floor is the location of J Jonah Jameson’s office and the desk of his receptionist, Betty Brant.

Visitors to the third floor are greeted by Ms. Brant sitting at her desk. The build makes use of the rare Medium Nougat bracket plate to lay the arches parallel to the floor.

J Jonah Jameson’s desk is quite modest with a simple construction, especially compared to the one that sits in Peter’s office below. The highlights of this room are the trophies and geode atop the filing cabinet behind the desk.

The back of this module features a couple of interesting details. Above a slightly tattered billboard, an air conditioning unit sits on the wall. It’s here that a little bird has made their home. The nest is actually Minifig Neckwear Fur Collar in Tan (6153507|26066), a pretty rare element (appearing in just four sets so far) which it seems was initially designed for the Spider-man villain, Kraven the Hunter, having first appeared in 76057 Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle. It has since appeared as a nest in a couple of other sets over the last couple of years. It’s the perfect part: the element is even listed on Bricklink as a bird’s nest.

The Spider-Mobile is also parked on the wall of the third floor. It’s a simple build but one notable detail is the brick-built windscreen, a bit of a rarity in LEGO sets. This is a lso where our newly recoloured 2 x Wheel 18 x 8 with Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes and Axle Hole in Light Bluish Grey (6357599|56903) appear.

The excitement continues on the rooftop. We have a water tower and a massive pylon adorned with satellite dishes adding considerable height to the finished build, and of course, there’s that stunning lettering up front.

Let’s start with the water tower. The vessel itself is two Wheel Wagon Viking with 12 Holes in Dark Bluish Grey (55817). A clever choice of part as the segmented surface of the wheel creates the impression that the tower is constructed from sheets of metal.

It’s topped with a Ninjago conical hat. All in all, another neat trick for builders to add to their bag of tricks.

The cherry on top of this magnificent skyscraper is the brick-built Daily Bugle logo, very striking in its bright Red font. I really love the graphic design here. Removing the letters reveals jumper plates used to achieve that perfect kerning. The font is exquisite. I almost want to extrapolate it to make a whole typeface.

And finally, in the centre of the logo sits the eponymous bugle, built from some of our newly recoloured parts. Perfect.

The finished Marvel Super Heroes set 76178

Mark Stafford and the rest of the design team have done a great job of creating a skyscraper that would fit perfectly into the New York skyline. The extensive use of SNOT bricks paired with the rail element that span each floor makes for a super sturdy structure as well as providing a nice decorative touch.

With each floor stacked atop one another, the height of the building measures over 80 cm, which provides plenty of space to display the myriad of figures supplied with the set. Although it’s a part of the adult portfolio, I spent a lot of time creating little scenes for the figures: it makes a great playset. The interior is easily accessible too, and the windows of each floor can be removed independently of one another to reveal the building’s colourful interior.

From a display point of view, the finished building is stunning and although you’ll most likely want to show off its front, it looks great from all angles, with just as much attention to detail paid to the back of the building. I particularly love the use of colour, the vibrant Red fire escape and Bugle logo contrasting against the cold grey and glass of the building is a great design choice.

Conclusion

I really had a great time with this set. Some aspects of the builds were tedious (there are 347 windows to assemble, after all) but they are scattered throughout the build and there are plenty of fun details and clever sub-assemblies peppered throughout to keep things really interesting. I think a number of these small builds will serve as great inspiration for builders looking to furnish and embellish their own modular buildings.

I’m sure this model will appeal to more than just the fans of the comic books. The parts selection will appeal to a range of builders, and the finished model will have its appeal too, in particular to modular building collectors- as thanks to the concealed pin holes in the base- it’s ready to slot right into an existing display. Plus, if you’re not a fan of the Marvel universe, the model can be customized relatively easily.

Чувство дежавю при сборке набора вы будете испытывать многократно. Но вместе с тем будете совершенно точно помнить тот "конкретный момент из прошлого" – он случился всего несколько страниц инструкции назад. Сборку фасада и остекления этажей мы повторим как минимум четыре раза. Если вы все-таки подзабыли как это было в прошлый раз, или даже еще вообще не видели – добро пожаловать в начало сборки .

А мы продолжаем ~~испытывать дежавю~~ ! :)

Дежавю из пакета девять – пожарная лестница и двери лифта

Итак, снова соберем двери фиктивного лифта и пожарную лестницу ровно точно так же как и в прошлый раз.
А вот размер этажа – стал существенно меньше и появился выход на балкон, который образует крыша второго этажа с обратной стороны здания.

Дежавю из пакетов десять – снова остекление

В череде этих приступов дежавю радует тот факт, что уникальные минифигурки в этом безобразии не участвуют. Приятно видеть что-то новенькое каждый раз. хотя. стоп. вам ничего не напоминает эта курточка?

Третий этаж обзавелся письменным столом, портретом человека-паука и внушительного размера копировальным аппаратом в соседней комнате. И да, снова соберем множество "панелек" из стёкол.

Одиннадцатые пакеты – давайте разобьём стекло!

Бить стекло нам поможет Зеленый Гоблин.

Но прежде нам придётся повесить точно такой же фонарь, как мы вешали над дверью запасного выхода на первом этаже.

А теперь давайте бить окна!

Мне очень понравилось как тут чинно и благородно всё организовано: вертикальные балки крепятся на шарнирах и можно предусмотреть различные варианты оформления битья стекла.

Единственное замечание с моей стороны – что Зеленый Гоблин на слайдере тяжеловат для своего крепления.

Но смотрится очень эффектно!

Готовый этаж вносит яркое разнообразие в оформление фасада здание.

Дежавю пакетов двенадцать – и снова пожарная лестница и двери лифта

Это мы тоже уже проходили неоднократно. Терпим, терпим! :)

Зато пол у нас теперь бордовый и голубой! Отлично: был зеленый, ярко желтый, песочно-оранжевый – какое многообразие в одном здании!

Пакеты тринадцать – мебель и остекление

Обустраиваем мебелью четвертый этаж.

Укрепляем балками стеклянные панели сверху.

Кстати, прогресс можно отслеживать по редеющим наклейкам на листочке с наклейками Ура! Финал близко! :)

Дежавю пакетов четырнадцать – укрепление фасада

Весьма стандартный покет по деталям.

Пакеты этого уровня содержат аж три минифигурки, которые буквально сразу же начали демонстрировать свои супер-способности.

И снова утомим себя стеклами и вертикальными рейками.

Возрадуемся – это последние окна на сегодня, и вообще, в этом здании! :)

Пакеты пятнадцать – ура! ни каких дежавю – всего навсего крыша

Водонапорная башня обьемна и восхитительна.

Добавим на крышу стойку для антенн.

Пакеты шестнадцать – последний рывок

Из них собираются буквы на крыше здания, пара фигурок и спайдер-мобиль.

Соберем механические руки для Доктора Осьминога.

И вот уже готовые буквы логотипа Daily Bugle и спайдер-мобиль.

Крыша полностью собрана и оформлена. Можно приступать к сборке здания.

Наши третий и четвертый этаж и крыша.

При установке крыши пришлось несколько напрячься: как только ты устанавливаешь штырьки с одной стороны, они отличным образом разъединяются с другой. И так несколько раз! Крепкое словцо - в этом моменте будет произнесено неоднократно, особенно если при одной из попыток вылетят стекла четвертого этажа. ибо сдерживать себя в рамочках к концу сборки здания становится уже совсем сложно. :)

Итак, барабанная дробь: первые этажи и последние. Давайте представим, что будет если установаить одни на другие?

Ответ на самом деле не очевиден: при установке верхних этажей из них синхронно выпадают фасадные окна ~~и разлетаются вдребезги~~ ! Нет, вдребезги не разлетаются, потому что одно из них и так это имитирует, но часть деталей все-таки отвалится – так что будьте осторожны! И да, крепкие словца тут тоже будут уместны – особенно кощунственно будет произностить бэтмэновское "твою мышь" при сборке здания вселенной Marvel! :)

А о том, чтобы переносить здание в собранном виде с места на место - не может быть даже и речи!

Обещанные эмоции

Абсолютно в первый раз за более чем 10 лет моей регулярной практики сборка набора вывела меня из себя! Наверное не надо было ставить себе задачу собрать набор в один день, и растянуть удовольствие и дежавю хотя на пару недель. :)

Сборка в таком темпе очень утомляет своей повторяемостью. И еще очень сильно утомляет шаткость конструкции. Стремление запихать множество мелких элементов в набор – в данном случае совершенно не оправдано – это не даёт никаких преимуществ при упрочнении конструкции – а только расстраивает, когда в очередной раз пытаешься собрать воедино все стекла, стараясь при этом не оставить на них следов от пальцев.

В общем, если бы я была умнее, я бы ~~купила ящик пенного~~ – пригласила хорошую компанию для сборки набора – вот это было бы идеальным решением! Интересные конструкторские решения в наборе, безусловно, присутствуют. Даже в сборке тех же стен здания (особенно если не повторять их несколько раз). Мне очень понравилась сборка элементов мебели для каждого этажа и разбитого окна. Безупречно оформлена крыша и надпись Daily Bugle на крыше. Два транспортных средства тоже существенно оживляют набор.

И конечно же – здание выглядит очень эффектно! Фактически упирается в потолок, с учетом того что моя комната в мансарде. :)

На международном уровне немногие наборы LEGO были так взволнованы, как новинки LEGO Marvel, которые должны появиться на рынке летом 2021 года. LEGO почти удалось держать наборы под замком, и официальные фотографии должны появиться на следующей неделе. Теперь наборы появились в магазине LEGO в Англии, и пользователь Brickset по имени «Roccomediartay» сфотографировал и опубликовал их.

LEGO 76189 Противостояние Капитана Америки и Гидры (4+)

В небольшом наборе 4+ из 49 деталей Капитан Америка получает новый мотоцикл, на котором он может сразиться с агентом Гидры. Набор оптически основан на Мстителях: Эра Альтрона. Помимо двух минифигурок и мотоцикла, он также включает небольшой дисковый шутер с бластером. Небольшая общая упаковка продается по цене 9,99 евро.

LEGO 76190 Железный человек: хаос Железного торговца

Фаза 1 «Саги бесконечности» и вся кинематографическая вселенная Marvel началась с первого «Железного человека» в 2008 году. Из этого фильма мы теперь получаем еще один набор LEGO, а именно LEGO 76190 Железный человек: хаос Железного торговца. Здесь Железный Человек (впервые в версии MK III) сражается против Обадии Стейна, который построил Железного Творца. Третий персонаж — Пеппер Поттс. Набор стоит 39,99 евро, состоит из 479 деталей, в комплект входит наклейка. Кроме того, в мех высотой 18 см встроен легкий камень, который зажигает дуговой реактор на груди Железного Творца (Iron Monger), когда рука перемещается с помощью стрелка с 6 шипами.

LEGO 76191 Перчатка бесконечности (18+)

Особая новинка — Перчатка Бесконечности, перчатка Таноса, с помощью которой он собирает и контролирует шесть камней Бесконечности. Золотая перчатка выполнена в виде большой сборной опоры и, как и головы LEGO Венома и LEGO Карнажа, имеет черную подставку со значком. Перчатка выглядит как набор LEGO 18+ для взрослых . Даже если это выглядит как статуэтка, пальцы перчатки бесконечности подвижны. Многие золотые камни встроены в 590 частей, и камни бесконечности также используются в перчатке. В целом модель имеет высоту 31 см , ширину 13 см и глубину 11 см.

LEGO 76192 Мстители: Финальная битва

Другой выпуск также будет посвящен грандиозному финалу мстителей в рамках серии LEGO Сага Бесконечности. Небольшая штаб-квартира будет построена из 527 частей и заселена в общей сложности 8 фигурами. Включены минифигурки Тора, Капитана Америки, Черной Пантеры, Железного человека, Алой Ведьмы, Человека-муравья и воина Читаури. Кроме того, Танос представлен как переизданный Bigfig, а Человек-муравей Поставляется в виде микрофигурки. В штаб-квартире есть лаборатория Железного человека, где разрабатывается Нано перчатка, зона отдыха для наших героев и тюремная камера. Также включен фургон Человека-муравья, который гудит посреди орды врагов в фильме «Финал». Набор имеет высоту 16 см, ширину 27 см и глубину 12 см, и вы можете купить его с 1 июня за 89,99 евро (рекомендуемая розничная цена).

LEGO 76193 Корабль Стражей Галактики

Оранжево-синий космический корабль Стражей Галактики уже реализован как модель LEGO, но получает новый, более крупный набор. Космический корабль и трибуна построены из 1901 деталей размером 25 см в высоту , 36 см в длину и 59 см в ширину. За 149,99 евро вы получаете Бенатар (так называется корабль, приемник Милано) и команду со Звездным Лордом, Енотом Ракетой, Грутом, Тором и Мантис. Здесь, конечно же, есть читаури, включая аксессуары. Основание спроектировано так, чтобы его можно было поворачивать, что позволяет отображать космический корабль относительно динамично.

Огромный строительный набор Лего с 25 минифигурками офиса Daily Bugle, редакции Дейли Бьюгл. Это рабочее место Питера Паркера, как оно было показано в комиксах Удивительный человек-паук в 1963 году.

I like superhero LEGO® sets. However, most of the time, I do not like them for the actual set, but for the Minifigures. My main beef with the Marvel and DC Comics themes has always been the lack of buildings. Sure, we get the occasional Avengers Tower or bank façade. But I want a cityscape full of modulars, not open backed or swing-open designs. This year, the LEGO® Group heard my prayers. The summer 2021 line-up includes an amazingly detailed 18+ version of the Daily Bugle (76178). As if that was not enough, the LEGO® Group also included a whopping 25 Minifigures in the set. Incidentally, that addressed another of my frequent gripes with large sets never including large numbers of Minifigures. I received a pre-release copy of the Daily Bugle to review. I am super excited to share this epic build with you!

DAILY BUGLE (76178) REVIEW

VALUE: 84%

The Daily Bugle clocks in at a steep $399.99 in Canada. However, it also includes 3772 bricks. That makes the Daily Bugle the largest Superheroes set ever produced by the LEGO® Group. Currently, the only other set coming close is the 1989 Batmobile with 3306 bricks. The resulting cost-per-brick for the Daily Bugle is $0.106. Comparatively, my average across all themes is $0.138 at the moment. For Superheroes sets, the average is almost the same at $0.136. Either way, the set comes at a great value and earns 91% in this category.

I built the Daily Bugle gradually over six evenings. In total, it took seven hours and 31 minutes (451 minutes). Consequently, at full price, the cost-per-minute of build time is $0.89. That is satisfactory, though more expensive than average. Currently, my average is $0.83/minute across all LEGO® themes and $0.77/minute for Superheroes. As such, I rate the build time value at 75%. Taking the average of this and the cost-per-brick score gives a final value rating of 84%.

BUILD: 99%

This is my favorite Superheroes set ever. It has everything I have always wanted from the theme. Firstly, you build a high rise consisting of four modular floors. Additionally, the ground level is complete with connection points making it compatible with the Creator Expert modular buildings. The sidewalks also match. Secondly, LEGO® designers addressed the issue of how Minifigures get from floor to floor. The obvious route is the fire escape pictured on the box. However, the set also contains elevator facades on each floor. While there is no functional elevator, the addition of the elevator doors still gives the illusion of one, leaving less to the imagination. This building comes ready to simply drop into your city layout with no modification necessary.

The Daily Bugle (76178) connects to the Creator Modular series and has matching sidewalks.

The ground floor is the lobby. It is the only floor lacking a removable wall for ease of interior access. However, the level features a blow out wall on the side for a simulated post-explosion scene. Otherwise, the lobby has a reception desk, sitting area, and décor including a TV screen, awards, and wall mounted newspaper covers. I particularly like the vending machine.

The second floor houses the newsroom. There are four desks, computers, a filing cabinet, water cooler, TV screens, and a kitchenette. Additionally, more newspapers litter the floor and decorate the walls. Up another floor is the dusty, cluttered office area of Peter Parker. It looks like a little used storage floor where the lowly photographer works. The top floor goes to J. Jonah Jameson and his assistant, Betty Brant. Finally, the rooftop comes complete with a water tower and broadcast antenna, as well as the Daily Bugle sign built from bricks.

Each floor of the Daily Bugle (76178) is modular with an additional removable wall.

As mentioned earlier, each floor is modular. They lift off to allow overhead access to the interior. However, each floor except the ground also has a removable front wall. This allows interior access from a different angle without the need to detach floor. Interestingly, one of the floors has an exploding window through which Green Goblin flies. While I have not tried it myself, the set appears to include enough pieces in the exploding portion of the window to rebuild it as an unbroken wall. You just need to follow the instructions for another floor.

The Daily Bugle also features three smaller builds. Firstly, you put together a spinning swirl of sand and street bits for Sandman. This little build looks amazing and achieved the desired effect of making Sandman look like he is bursting through the sidewalk. His cyclone of sand easily detaches as well to reveal a clean sidewalk underneath. Second, you assemble a New York taxi. The car is also a nice build and compliments the scene well. Sadly, the cab does not have opening doors. However, it is a side build that does not detract from the main set. As such, I will not harp on that too much.

The final side build was a bit of a “huh?” moment for me. You go through several hours of this amazing build… and then you finish the experience off with a Spider-buggy. It looks like a 4+ set thrown into an 18+ build. If it were so necessary to include a childish vehicle, why end the experience with it? This thing should have been the first thing you build so that you forget about it as the amazing set progresses. I dislike useless vehicles, especially when the characters do not actually need them. Additionally, the Superheroes theme is rife with vehicles already. Thankfully, this Spider-buggy did not cost the set detail anywhere else. Due to this buggy, I rate the Daily Bugle build at 99% instead of 100%.

MINIFIGURES: 94%

The Daily Bugle comes with 25 glorious Minifigures. Some of them are available in cheaper sets, such as Spider-Man, Spider Gwen, Miles Morales, Mysterio, Sandman, Carnage, and Venom. However, many of the characters are unique to this particular set. Mostly notably, you get Daredevil, Punisher, Black Cat, and Blade. I cannot contain my enthusiasm for those characters. Additionally, the kit contains a number of civilians. Superhero sets need normal townsfolk and bystanders too. I think the ratio of comic characters to normal people is fairly good in this set.

Otherwise, all characters come complete with the standard parts, except for Spider-Ham who has stumpy, un-moving legs. Additionally, Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, and Blade do not have any hairpieces or head coverings for obvious reasons. All Minifigures feature front and back torso printing, and 17 have double-sided faces or front and back head printing. Finally, six have either dual-molded legs or leg printing. In terms of accessories, there are a lot. I counted 84, but I might have missed some. I will not list them all, but you get some nice pieces. Notably, the set contains newspaper tiles uniquely printed for this set. Ultimately, I rate the character design and accessories at 95%. A few more Minifigures with leg printing and short/moveable legs on Spider-Ham would sway me higher.

25 Minifigures in a 3772-piece kit translates into a brick-to-fig ratio of 151:1. Comparatively, my average for the Superheroes theme is 176:1, while LEGO® sets in general sit at 167:1. Consequently, you are getting a good number of Minifigures for a set this size. It is worth mentioning that 18+ sets are generally bad for Minifigure counts. In the 18+ range, my average ratio is 406:1. Therefore, compared to Superheroes and LEGO® in general, you get a good number of Minifigures. Compared to 18+ sets, the ratio is downright excellent. I rate the ratio score at 92%. Averaging this with the design score gives an overall Minifigure rating of 94%.

Surprisingly, for a large set you get an amazing Minifigure count.

ENTERTAINMENT: 100%

I love the Daily Bugle. This is the Superheroes set that I have been waiting for. Firstly, you get a great build that is ready to drop into any city layout. Secondly, you acquire a lot of Minifigures, including some of my favorite characters that have never before appeared in LEGO® form. This set is going straight into my city and remaining on display. Additionally, while this is an 18+ set, kids will love it too. There is so much going on and so many play spaces that it will provide hours of entertainment. The building design also inspired further custom projects. The structure and basic assembly lend themselves well to developing other custom buildings. Just change the color of the bricks and you have a whole new high rise. Change some of the exterior details and you have another one. This set is amazing.

The Daily Bugle (76178) is well worth the price tag. The value is good, but the build, Minifigures, and entertainment potential are great. While this is a Marvel Comics set, I think it will also appeal to a broader AFOL audience. Anyone building their own city gets a ready-made high rise building from this kit. You can choose to customize it or leave it as your city’s news agency. I have waited a long time for a Superheroes set like this. To the LEGO® Group: more please.
