Do you fancy yourself as a bit of an Inventor? We’re looking for innovators to build a sixth model for the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Robot Inventor!

Two entries in this contest will be randomly selected as winners too. No reason not to get involved!

You can submit an idea for a new model by either:

1) Building a new/6th Robot using the old LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 set or the newRobot Inventor set

2) Drawing or designing your concept. However, these entries need to include either the EV3 Main Module, or one of the modules included in the new Robot Inventor set.

All entries must include:

· A description of what your model does

· Note the key functions/features

When building, we would love to see videos of your submissions working, or maybe animations of your drawing/design coming to life. Or even some code!

Build entry titles should start with ‘Build:’. Drawing or design entry titles should start with ‘Concept:’.

If you’re one of two winners of this contest, you’ll win the following:

• 40413 MINDSTORMS Mini Robot

ENTRY DEADLINE: Submit your entry no later than December 8th, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. EST. If you’re not sure what time zone you’re in, here’s a time zone converter.

How it Works

The contest will consist of 3 phases:

1. Submission Phase - Build and submit your entry before December 8th, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. EST. We recommend submitting your entry 2-3 days before the deadline in the event we have to return it to you for changes.
2. Judging Phase - Our judges review the entries and choose the winners by December 15th, 2020.
3. Winners Announcement - We share the Two Grand Prize winners, two Runner Up winners and two Bonus winners, here on LEGO Ideas no later than December 22nd, 2020!

How to Enter:

1. Submissions may be in either physical bricks or by using a digital building tool such as LEGO Digital Designer . You’re welcome to use image editing tools, such as Photoshop, to enhance your photos/presentation. You are also welcome to draw your designs physically or digitally. Videos in your submissions are also accepted.
2. Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the contest. Make sure to show off all angles and any features or functions of your creation.
   Please submit your photos in as high a resolution as possible so that we can see all the details clearly. If possible, the shortest edge should be at least 1080 pixels.
3. Add a title and short description.
4. Upload your entry to the contest using the blue Submit Your Entry button on this page.

Contest Rules:

Acceptable Entry Content

• You must be the original creator of all creative work you submit (the model, images, photographs, description text, etc.) and you must have the exclusive right to submit your model to this LEGO Ideas Contest. You may not submit a model or any other content made by, or on behalf of, someone else.
• Entries must be new creations and not previously posted online or submitted to any other contest.
• Your drawing entries should have a LEGO element style, meaning that there must be brick type elements featured in your design.
• You are allowed to use any official LEGO element (LEGO System, LEGO DUPLO, LEGO TECHNIC/Constraction) in your entry. The LEGO elements must be genuine (not cut, glued, or otherwise modified).
• Entries should not contain copies or references to any other existing third-party work or creation or infringements of any third-party intellectual property right, such as Ford.
• Please only use generic Minifigures that do not use any third-party intellectual property.
• Contest entries related to the topics below do not fit our brand values and will not be approved for publication on LEGO Ideas:
  • Politics and political symbols, campaigns, or movements
  • Religious references including symbols, buildings, or people
  • Sex, nudity, drugs, or smoking
  • Alcohol in any present-day situation
  • Swearing or profanity
  • Death, killing, blood, terrorism, horror, or torture
  • First-person shooter video games
  • Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials
  • Large or human-scale weapons or weapon replicas of any kind, including swords, knives, guns, sci-fi or fantasy blasters, etc.
  • Racism, bullying, or cruelty to real life animals

  Entry Quality Standards

  • You may submit digital entries using LEGO Digital Designer, which is available for download via this link free of charge. Any entries made in LEGO Digital Designer should not show the baseplate from build mode. You may also create digital entries using third-party LEGO CAD software.
  • You may use photo editing software and add visual effects to photos of your entry.
  • Entries containing photos that are too dark or blurry will be removed from the contest. To ensure easy judging of your entry, we recommend taking pictures on a neutral background free from background clutter, with your model well framed.
  • Please do not include people in pictures you submit. Photos containing people will be removed.

  House Rules

  • Entries containing defamatory or degrading elements will not be eligible for the contest.
  • Any cheating or harassment of other participants will result in disqualification from the contest.
  • Your contest entries and comments on contest entries must follow the complete LEGO Ideas House Rules.

  Judging

  A panel of judges consisting of a Mindstorms Designer and two expert AFOLs, will choose 4 winners based on:

  • Overall coolness and originality: 25%
  • Most inspired details: 25%
  • Relevance to contest theme: 25% ​​​​
  • Best use of LEGO elements: 25%

  There will also be two winners randomly selected. They will be randomly drawn from any and all entries. Entrants who judges have picked as winners will not be eligible and if one users’ entries get picked twice, they will only receive one prize and there will be another random draw for a different winner.

  Книга великолепна во всём, и качеством изготовления, и техническими идеями. Хорошо сгодится на подарок ребёнку переходящему на Lego Technic (можно даже приложить к первому такому конструктору). Что касается упоминание EV3 на обложке, то это скорее рекламный ход, т.к. на EV3 я бы переходил уже после практики с Technic, иначе, как это часто бывает, это будет собранный по инструкции робот, долгие годы стоящий на полке без применения. Т.е. идей именно для EV3 в книге нет, т.к. идеи для EV3 это не.

  Очень качественное издание, замечательные иллюстрации. Купили ребенку в подарок (10 лет). Описано много механизмов. В книге рассказывается именно работа МЕХАНИЗМОВ. На всю книги 3 маленьких программки для запуска моторов! Так что работать с программой ev3 не получиться. Здесь рассмотрены инженерные возможности конструктора. Инструкций нет, но иллюстрации очень подробные, большие понятные( даже мне)))! Для нас книга находка. При том, что испробованы и собраны были все модели с сайта.

  Просто бомбическая книга! Очень подробные инструкции по сборке (есть простые роботы, на которых изучаются блоки программного обеспечения, датчики), и более сложные- гоночная машина, шагающий робот муравей, робот сортировщик деталей.
  Много заданий для самостоятельной работы. То, что нужно начинающему Лего-робототехнику.
  Добавляю фото содержания и текста"как работать с книгой"
  И несколько страниц изнутри.

  Книга давно доступна в сети в английском варианте. Я даже брал некоторые элементы для занятий из нее. Но английский язык у меня не родной и это мешает мне при работе с подобной литературой. Когда вышла книга, решил взять ее просто для того, чтобы была. Вдруг пригодиться. Но получив ее был приятно удивлен. Очень качественный перевод и адаптация. Книга представляет собой грамотное введение для изучения Lego Mindstorms. Написана очень методично, что не хватает подобной литературе.
