In a scenario drawn from the film, The LEGO Movie Videogame puts LEGO kids into the role of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Players guide him as he is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Beyond the plot and characters, this game is almost identical to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril, a game that released no more than six months prior. This isn't a step backwards for the series, but it does have its feet planted firmly where they stand, showing absolutely no signs of moving forward. Fans of the The LEGO Movie and previous LEGO games are sure to enjoy this one as well, but don't seek it out expecting anything that you haven't already seen.
The LEGO Movie Videogame manages to ride the charm of its hilarious source material, yet still reeks of movie tie-in-itis. The 3DS and Vita versions’ bite-sized chunks of gameplay make the overall experience feel less like a grand LEGO adventure and more like a series of mini-games and puzzles crammed into where the story should be. There’s still a lot of fun to be had in wanton destruction and problem-solving, but this trip into LEGO-land feels too rushed to be awesome.
God is a Geek
If you’re already a fan of the LEGO series, then you’ve probably already seen The LEGO Movie. You’ll know the characters, the premise, and you know how these games work. Being a movie tie-in makes no difference at all, because this is a LEGO game through and through. The addition of new features brings a slight breath of fresh air to a formula that was starting to feel a little bit stale.

Все, кто хоть раз играл в какую-нибудь «леговскую» игру, почувствуют себя в The LEGO Movie Videogame как дома. По структуре и механике она практически ничем не отличается, например, от LEGO Harry Potter или LEGO The Lord of the Rings. Все знакомо: маленькие фигурки, словно сбежавшие из конструктора, неловко прыгают по детальным уровням, крушат заботливо воспроизведенные декорации, которые тут же разлетаются на десятки разноцветных фишек, копят очки, собирают из сломанного новые конструкции, чтобы решать нехитрые пазлы, смешно избивают врагов и меняются друг с другом местами, когда нужно выполнить какую-нибудь специфическую задачу.
Главный герой, строитель по имени Эммет, может чинить сломанное оборудование и использовать дрель, его нежданная напарница Люси прыгает выше всех и умеет ползать по стенам и прочим отвесным поверхностям. Похожий на Гэндальфа старец Витрувиус готов превратить свой посох в своеобразные брусья для той же Люси, чтобы она перелетела в нужное место. А вот игрушечный Бэтмен (да-да, есть здесь и он!), понятно, ловко метает бэтаранг и крепится Бэт-крюком, чтобы, например, подтянуть предмет или обрушить какую-то конструкцию.
На таком кооперативном взаимодействии героев и построена вся механика. Люси забирается куда повыше, потом скидывает вниз лестницу или сбрасывает огромный ящик, чтобы остальные забрались к ней. А когда она, например, собирается пробежать по стене, но видит, что через ту проходит ток, то должна остановиться и подождать, пока мы переключимся на Эммета и починим щиток.
Вы можете играть как в «сингле», лично перескакивая по круговому меню доступных персонажей, так и с другом на разделенном экране — что, безусловно, и веселее, и удобнее. На месте и другие фирменные радости: открытые сюжетные уровни разрешено перепроходить в режиме свободной игры, собирая еще не найденные бонусы, особые предметы и прочие плюшки — например, разноцветные… штаны. Между локациями, как обычно, действует своеобразный «хаб», где есть портал, ведущий в доступные места; бонусные пазлы; примерочная (вспомните про штаны!); и зеленая дорожка, направляющая к следующему сюжетному отрезку. Наконец, вы по-прежнему можете покупать и коллекционировать новых персонажей. Ведь собрать всех — это для многих чуть ли не главное в любой подобной игре.

Однако есть в The LEGO Movie Videogame и своя специфика. Это одна из самых «сюжетных» и смешных игр среди себе подобных — потому что и оригинальный фильм получился очень смешным! Сценарий пародирует не только «Бэтмена» или «Властелина колец» по отдельности, но и вообще проходится веселым катком по многим штампам, избитым темам и всем типичным боевикам про спасение мира от злого-презлого злодея разом. Вроде бы достаточно занудное начало про проблемы строителей в современном городе быстро сменяется настоящим «трешем и угаром». Герои с криками и грохотом выбираются из казематов «злого полицейского» (который легким поворотом головы становится «добрым»), потом попадают на типичный Дикий Запад, где Гэндальф (то есть Витрувиус) выдает себя за пианиста в салуне, бегают вместе с Бэтменом по облакам, посещают карамельный мир вечной радуги, где к ним присоединяется местная Эпплджек…
И это далеко не все. Если в начале повествования мы палим из кольта в салуне, то ближе к финалу стреляем из лазерного оружия и сигаем в кабину настоящего «меха» — его предварительно нужно собрать в ходе новой мини-игры, симулирующей настоящий «Лего»-конструктор.
Такой лихой темп привел к тому, что в целом по постановке и режиссуре все это больше напоминает (и опять же пародирует) какую-нибудь Call of Duty или Uncharted — это главное отличие и преимущество The LEGO Movie Videogame. Типичных «исследовательских» уровней тут практически нет. Мы все время с кем-то сражаемся, куда-то бежим, а вокруг постоянно что-то гремит, стреляет, кричит и взрывается. Герои уходят от погони на футуристическом авто, и, пока один расстреливает преследователей из пушки, другая под восторженные возгласы игроков скачет по несущимся мимо машинам. Еще через пять минут они дерутся с врагами на крыше несущегося поезда… Да что там говорить, здесь есть даже типичная сцена с «боссом»-вертолетом!
The LEGO Movie Videogame — это, пожалуй, вершина эволюции «Лего»-жанра. Проектов по лицензии, выданной производителем датского конструктора, расплодилось какое-то невообразимое количество. Впрочем, ничего удивительного в этом нет — LEGO пользуется бешеной популярностью у детей (и взрослых) по всему миру. Но если «физический» вариант игрушки предоставляет поле для творчества и созидания уже который десяток лет, то основу The LEGO Movie Videogame трудно назвать столь же вневременной и актуальной. Игра попросту не может предложить ничего нового.
Вторичность — вот основная причина пройти мимо The LEGO Movie Videogame. Если бы до нее в продаже не появились десятки других проектов Traveller’s Tales, то все было бы замечательно. Авторы раз за разом занимаются откровенным самокопированием: свободный режим и повторение уже пройденных этапов ради сбора ценных монеток и покупки бонусов — это было; одинаковые задания с QTE-танцами — тоже на месте. Стоит заменить персонажей и декорации другими, как всякое различие между LEGO Batman: The Videogame и LEGO Harry Potter попросту исчезает. Возникнет ли у кого-то желание по десятому кругу проходить локации ради новых штанов для фигурок — большой вопрос.
Как и прежде, несколько желтых человечков передвигаются по уровню, попутно разнося на кусочки надоедливых противников и решая тривиальные головоломки. У каждого персонажа есть уникальная способность. Так, Кисонька запросто разбивает особо прочные блоки, Дикарка умеет высоко прыгать и забираться на труднодоступные платформы, Эммет играючи собирает сложные механизмы и гаечным ключом чинит сломавшиеся приборы, а слепой колдун Витрувий использует свой посох в качестве турника, чтобы преодолевать пропасти. В общем, выбирать есть из кого — всего доступно порядка пятидесяти героев.
Переключаться между союзниками можно в любой момент. Traveller’s Tales неплохо их разнообразила, поэтому отличаются модельки друг от друга не только внешне. Одни хорошо сражаются на дальних дистанциях, но разлетаются на детали от пары ударов, других лучше пускать в самую гущу событий. Что интересно, авторы не только придумали различные способности для персонажей и по-разному анимировали их, но и прописали отличия в характерах. Бэтмен самодоволен и слегка эгоистичен, Дикарка — та еще стерва, а колдун вовсю старается почаще выглядеть нелепо и комично.
События игры практически полностью копируют ситуации фильма The LEGO Movie. Давным-давно множество LEGO-миров свободно взаимодействовало друг с другом, но злодей Лорд Бизнес разделил их, построив между вселенными огромные стены. Разумеется, несогласные с таким порядком герои организовали сопротивление, основанное на пророчестве об «Избранном», который и не подозревает о своем особом статусе. Эммет Блоковски — типичный законопослушный гражданин. Каждое утро он смотрит на мир с позитивом и делает все по инструкции — точно так же, как другие обитатели пластмассового мегаполиса. Несмотря на свое предназначение, Эммет не отличается героическим характером и особым умом, а потому в истории хватает курьезов.
Как и в других проектах Traveller’s Tales, здесь присутствует специфический LEGO-юмор. Подопечные постоянно попадают в нелепые, а порой и вовсе глупые ситуации. Не сказать, что во время прохождения смеешься без остановки, но улыбку злоключения пластмассовых героев вызовут не раз. На Диком Западе Эммет и компания сражаются с агрессивными роботами и спасаются от собственноручно устроенного пожара, затем их забрасывает в город на облаках, а в нашем мире они попадают в грандиозное ДТП. Жаль, что шутки не способны надолго удержать у экрана тех, кто уже знаком с игровыми адаптациями Traveller’s Tales. Как, собственно, и все остальное.
Кажется, авторы очень торопились снабдить билет в кино интерактивным дополнением, уж больно The LEGO Movie Videogame получилась топорной. В ней плохо работает даже то, что должно было быть отточено за многие годы выпуска подобных игр. Тормозящие и «пожатые» ролики, кривое и скучное управление автомобилем, минимальная дистанция прорисовки. Список можно продолжать, но лучше просто ограничиться просмотром The LEGO Movie, а к предмету нашего сегодняшнего разговора не приближаться. Есть гораздо более удачные и интересные LEGO-игры.

Lord Business raids the lair of Vitruvius in order to claim the Kragle. After blinding Vitruvius, Lord Business is able to claim the Kragle and learns about the prophecy of the "Special" (the greatest of the Master Builders). Upon kicking Vitruvius off a cliff, Lord Business plans to find the "Special."
8 1/2 years later, an ordinary construction worker named Emmet Brickowski heads to work at a construction site in Bricksburg. After helping to demolish some buildings, Emmet loses grip of his instructions and catches up to them at a pile of debris where he comes across Wyldstyle. He suddenly falls into a hole where he reaches the bottom and finds a relic named "The Piece of Resistance". Emmet wakes up in the custody of the Super Secret Police where he is interrogated by Bad Cop who states that the piece is stuck to Emmet's back. Wyldstyle infiltrates police headquarters where she saves Emmet from the Melting Chamber and their make their escape from the police station. Emmet and Wyldstyle make it to the backstreets where they escape on Wyldstyle's Super Cycle. After Emmet and Wyldstyle make it across the city limits, Bad Cop gets frustrated at them getting away from him.
Arriving in The Old West, Wyldstyle had some doubts about Emmet being the "Special." While in Flatbush Gulch, Wyldstyle states that Bricksburg is one of many LEGO realms where everyone traveled to until Lord Business got too confused with the chaos and erected walls to cut off each location. He even hired Bad Cop to round up every Master Builder where some of them went into hiding. They meet up with Vitruvius at a saloon. When upstairs, Vitruvius creates some mechanical birds to go to the Internet Cafe to E-Mail the remaining Master Builders to meet up with him in the secret realm of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Following an ambush by Sheriff Not-a-Robot, Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vitruvius are cornered by Bad Cop and his forces where Bad Cop demands the surrender of the relic. Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vitruvius fight their way past Bad Cop's forces to get out of Flatbush Gulch. After besting Sheriff Not-a-Robot, Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vitruvius escape on a pig-drawn wagon while evading Sheriff Not-a-Robt and Bad Cop's forces. Upon landing on a train, Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vituvius fight off more of Bad Cop's forces as Bad Cop pursues them in his flying police car. Bad Cop blows up the bridge that the train is on causing it to fall. Luckily, Wyldstyle's boyfriend, Batman shows up in his Batwing and saves Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Vitruvius.
Arriving in Middle Zealand, Batman converts his Batwing into the Batmobile where he drives up a rainbow to get to Cloud Cuckoo Land. Once they enter, they meet with Princess Unikitty who welcomes them to Cloud Cuckoo Land. Upon making it to the dog building, Vitruvius addresses the assembled Master Builders to tell them about Lord Business' plot. Emmet is introduced to the Master Builders as MetalBeard questions his motive. As Emmet claims that everyone present thinks that is the least qualified of the group, they end up giving him negative comments enough that MetalBeard ends up leaving. Just then, Bad Cop and his forces arrive in Cloud Cuckoo Land where they unleash the Micro Managers. Wyldstyle and Vitruvius work to rescue Emmet, Batman, and Unikitty from their traps. Upon being joined by Benny, the group decides to build a submarine to get away from Bad Cop's forces.
After escaping from Bad Cop's forces, the heroes escape into the Depths. Emmet comforts Unikitty over the loss of her home by building a Double-Decker Couch. As the submarine starts to flood, Benny and Vitruvius work to save the submarine and get it back to the surface. Yet the submarine explodes. Bad Cop unleashes the Scuba Cops to dredge the ocean for the relic while he takes the prisoners to Lord Business and give him the good news that the "Special" is no more. Unbeknownst to Bad Cop, Emmet's double-decker couch came in handy which everyone took refuge in. In the nick of time, Metalbeard arrives in his ship and saves them. Metalbeard saved them since Lord Business overlooked Emmet's Double-Decker Couch idea.
After a delivery ship is built, Metalbeard joins the heroes into infiltrating Octan Tower where they look for disguises. During Lord Business' meeting, Batman arrives as Bruce Wayne with Unikitty in disguise to invest in Lord Business' secret weapon. Emmet and Wyldstyle find the room where the Kragleizer is being held. Emmet learns from Wyldstyle that her real name is Lucy. While Unikitty stalls Lord Business and the Board of Directors, Batman catches up with Emmet and Wyldstyle where they find that Bad Cop is in the room as well. As Wyldstyle tricks Bad Cop out of the room and takes out the guards, Emmet and Batman work to cut the cables while Benny tries to shut down the shields around the Kragleizer. Before Emmet can disable the Kragleizer, the entire group is ambushed by Lord Business' soldiers.
Vitruvius finds where the Master Builders are being held as Lord Business arrives with Vitruvius' captive teammates. Vitruvius fights Lord Business' soldiers to free his teammates. Upon Lord Business unleashing his Skeletrons upon the heroes, they work to free MetalBeard which Benny does upon hacking into a Skeletron. After Metalbeard has destroyed the Skeletrons, Lord Business unleashes the Giant Micro Manager which the heroes combine their talents to destroy. However, Lord Business uses a coin to execute Vitruvius and has the others imprisoned. Upon removing the Piece of Resistance from Emmet's back, Lord Business sets the Octan Tower to self-destruct leaving Bad Cop behind.
Lord Business broadcasts to the LEGO Universe announcing that it's Taco Tuesday and uses the Kragleizer to glue everyone. Emmet roles off the battery he is strapped onto and jumps off the edge of the LEGO Universe to deactivate the self-destruct and electric shock sequence. Wyldstyle, Batman, Benny, MetalBeard, and Unikitty head to a TV studio to warn everyone about the Kragleizer. Afterwards, Wyldstyle gets her message out to everyone in the LEGO Universe to build whatever they can to defend themselves. When the Skeletrons attack, Bad Cop joins the heroes into fighting them hoping that there's still a Good Cop within him. The heroes and Bad Cop work to build Benny's dream spaceship and return to Bricksburg where its citizens are putting up a fight against Lord Business' forces.
Emmet lands in the real world where he finds his adventures being played out by a kid named Finn. Finn notices Emmet and puts him back in the LEGO Universe where he works with Blaze Firefighter to put out a fire by constructing a crane expansion to remove the electrical tower from the water. Then he saves a fellow construction worker named Gail from some ground-based Micro Managers. Emmet then combines some construction vehicles into one giant robot which he pilots. With help from Superman, Emmet pilots the Giant Mech to destroy the Micro Managers and make his way to Lord Business' lair. Then Emmet receives help from Green Lantern as Wyldstyle, Benny, and Wonder Woman work to help take out the Kragleizer Tentacles.
The Micro Managers swarm over Emmet's mech until Unikitty gets enraged enough to free Emmet. She helps him to fight the Micro Managers. Gandalf and a Magician provide some debris for Emmet's mech to throw at the back of Lord Business' giant robot. As Emmet's mech climbs the building, Superman carries Unikitty to the top of the other building. With the giant robot destroyed, Emmet infiltrates Lord Business's ship to stop Lord Business. When Business states that his new world is almost finished. Emmet convince Lord Business to end his campaign resulting in Lord Business destroying the Kragleizer, which makes him disarm the Kragle, which blows up.
As Emmet embraces Wyldstyle, Vitruvius' Ghost states that he "liked Emmet before it was cool."
