Lego portal 2 chell

Обновлено: 18.05.2024

Chell is one of the many Level Pack characters in LEGO Dimensions. She appears in the 71203 Level Pack for the Portal franchise.

Contents

Background

In Portal, Chell is performing tests for the ASEC aka Aperture Science Enrichment Center, which are being overviewed by GLaDOS, an artificially intelligent computer system. Chell is antagonized by GLaDOS during her testing courses. Wielding only the Handheld Portal Device, she eventually utilizes this device as a means of avoiding hazards and bypassing various sections inside the Facility in order to escape. , Chell's origin is unclear; GLaDOS claims that in Chell's file it states that she is adopted. In Portal 2, a long-abandoned science fair poster that was part of "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" — the same day GLaDOS became rampant — is attributed to "Chell", implying that at least one of her parents worked for Aperture Science.

Dimension Crisis

GLaD to See You

Despite not appearing in the main story, Chell is mentioned in this level. GLaDOS initially confuses Wyldstyle for her.

The Final Dimension

A photograph of Chell is seen at the end of this level prior to You Wouldn't Know.

Aperture Science

After the events of Portal 2, Chell and Wheatley return to Aperture Science Enrichment Center via dimensional vortexs, and are put to test by GLaDOS. She and Wheatley decide to work together to find a way out of Aperture Science once and for all. After completing various test chambers and escaping from the abandoned areas of the facility, the pair come face to face with GLaDOS in her Chamber. Wheatley then gets the idea to put Space Core into GLaDOS' mainframe. The duo act quickly due to GLaDOS activating the neurotoxin dispensers, despite the odds Chell makes the Core Transfer and Space Core is given control of the facility. Following GLaDOS' defeat, Chell and Wheatley discover a room behind GLaDOS' Chamber where they find a Gateway; the pair jump through it, leaving their fate unknown.

Introducing the Aperture Science Enrichment Facility, complete with artificial intelligence cores, test elements, and deadly neurotoxin, now rendered in LEGO! This custom set idea recreates a selection of iconic settings and objects from Portal 2, with an articulated model of GLaDOS at its center, making a wonderful playset and display piece.

Portal has been one most critically and culturally acclaimed video games of the past decade, and has been as huge personal influence on my own upbringing and artistic style. With Valve's recent decision to delve into game development once more, now seems just an opportune time as any to celebrate this imaginative setting.

  • The center focus and original purpose for creating this model, is the LEGO depiction of the ever-sarcastic AI GLaDOS. My intention was to recreate the character in a scale somewhere between micro and minifig-scale, which would allow for the model to be both articulated and detailed, but also reasonably compact and easy to build. The end result was a pleasing combination of all criteria. It captures the elegant curves and mechanical design of GLaDOS, but remains structurally sound, poseable, and (approximately) minifig-scale. I went through quite a few re-designs for her, and I'm happy the outcome.
  • The model also features a simple yet detailed recreation of the Aperture facility setting., which acts as both a backdrop for display, and a set-piece for play. The design draws inspiration from a few settings within the game, mainly GLaDOS' overgrown chamber, and the test chambers encountered after her awakening, as well as the final chamber of the original game. I wanted to reproduce the ruined, overgrown aesthetic of the game, and decided to achieve this by mashing various setting together in a very Aperture-haphazard way.
  • Of course, included in the model are several elements encountered throughout the game. An actuated panel, button, heavy-weight button and gel dispenser all make an appearance, as does the companion cube and incinerator. To further add to the display of the model, these elements are modular and can be disconnected and reassembled to create your own arrangement of tests.
  • As part of design this model, I also wanted to incorporate mini-figs and character sub-assemblies. Chell (sporting her LEGO Dimensions decal) is an essential feature, but brick built models of both a turret and rocket-turret from Portal are also here too. And of course Whealty makes an appearance (a redesign of his LEGO Dimensions form), and can be connected to either his terminal, or GLaDOS' chassis.

Designing this model was an exciting challenge of mixing aesthetic design and structural engineering (yay!) that finished in what I hope is a really nice looking and fun idea. Encouraging people to take inspiration from their favourite stories, childhood experiences, or beloved media, and create some new, fun, and imaginative is a concept I feel should really be celebrated and shared, especially if it encourages other to do the same themselves.

About: Hello, I am a human that creates (mostly) Lego minifigure scale Lego models of things that when I search for them, there are no accurate results. So far, I am mainly focusing my account on Lego MOCs, but I wil… More About CaptainKoopa »

This instructable will show you how to make the Companion Cube, Chell and the Portal Gun from the Portal games.
DISCLAIMER: the shown Portal Gun is NOT minifigure scale, but is sooooo close that I decided to add a Chell figure too.

Supplies

FOR THE COMPANION CUBE
6x dark grey 2x2 plates (you will have to imagine that they are all identical, because mine are not)
6x pink 1x1 flower studs (same issue as with the last parts)
6x of any colour 1x1 headlight bricks
FOR THE PORTAL GUN STAND
1x white 2x2 parabola
1x white stick. This is definitely not what it is called so I’d recommend referring to the picture.
FOR THE PORTAL GUN
3x black joysticks
1x black 1x1 stud
1x trans-light blue 1x1 stud
1x black 1x1 brick with 4 side connectors (yet again, I don’t know the actual name for this)
1x white 1x1 stud
2x white 1x2 flat tiles
1x trans-blue flat stud
1x white 1x1 plate
1x white 1x1 flat slope
1x black 1x1 plate with horizontal clip
1x black motor element

Step 1: Chell Figure

Not much to do on this part, except to say that if the yellow parts are available in a more ‘fleshy’ colour, I’d change them to that.

Step 2: Companion Cube

Trivia: I have used the same technique here with the headlight bricks as in the Lego Creator Expert logo!

Portal 3!

Despite owning and displaying this minifigure, I very frequently forget it exists. Portal is a franchise I never would've expected to be made in official LEGO form, the audiences just don't seem like they align very well. Chell comes with printing in both the front and back of her chest, 2 facial expressions (one content and one angry), and dual molded orange/white legs to simulate the long fall boots. She also comes with an exclusive Portal gun mold. The sculpt on the gun is very nice, but I'm not a fan of how it's entirely rubber because it makes it a pain in the neck to put into a minifigure's hands.

The first build of the pack is a very oversized turret. All things considered, the build isn't too bad. For its small size (in comparison to 1:1 scale) it's looks, well, like a turret. It also allowed for different rebuild models that were used within the Dimensions game.

The second build of the pack is the Companion Not-So Cube. This build I do have a bit more issues with, as it isn't much of a cube shape at all. The three printed tiles on each side is a nice inclusion, but I do think it could have been done in a much better way.

Despite me mentioning earlier that I didn't think the audiences for LEGO and Portal correlation very well, it is still a theme I would have absolutely loved to see more of. Portal 2 is a game I have played and loved for a long time and having more sets (or even ANY merchandise for that matter) would be super nice to own. An obvious set example would be GLaDOS, a character who has been made into countless MOCs since the game released. To mark up its value even more, they could add exclusive ATLAS and P-Body minifigures. For a smaller set ides they could do something with Wheatley. Perhaps a smaller, closer to minifgure scale turret or two as well? Unfortunately, it's been many years since this pack was released so the chances of us getting any other sets from the series are very unlikely. What do you think? Would you like to see more Portal themed LEGO sets?
