Об этом автомобиле много говорят. Вернее, его объясняют — как физический смысл Общей теории относительности, отличия ар-деко от конструктивизма или причины спада на фондовом рынке США. В новый Phantom вложено много смыслов, и все они тщательно изложены и разжеваны — но не всегда усвоены. Последнее мы исправим. А заодно дадим слово самому Фантому VIII. Ведь он вправе высказаться именно в качестве автомобиля.
С тех пор как дороги Rolls-Royce и Bentley разошлись, обе люксовые британские марки выстраивают свою философию. Оказавшись под крылом BMW и Volkswagen соответственно, они получили доступ к ресурсам и технологиям больших концернов. Но как поделить общее наследие? В каком направлении двигаться, чтобы автомобили, которые десятилетиями были клонами друг друга, не толкались локтями?
Обе марки тогда сделали выдающийся первый шаг. Bentley с чистого листа создала современную классику — Continental GT, а Rolls-Royce — шедевр вневременной роскоши, Phantom VII. И тогда путь каждого бренда обозначился более ясно. В 2003 году, когда началось производство Continental GT, Bentley выпустила менее 800 автомобилей. Десять лет спустя годовое производство перевалило за 10 тысяч машин. Только модель Bentayga в прошлом году разошлась тиражом в 4849 экземпляров.
Rolls-Royce — совсем другое дело. В 2017 году выпустили лишь 3362 автомобиля — в 2,5 раза меньше, чем Ferrari и в 14 раз меньше, чем Maserati. И в Гудвуде не стремятся производить больше.
Запуск восьмого поколения Phantom стал для Rolls-Royce хорошим поводом заново объяснить главные принципы, по которым существует марка. Они могут вызывать удивление и даже возмущение, а главное — сомнения в своей жизнеспособности.
Взять хотя бы самый известный тезис о том, что изделия Rolls-Royce конкурируют с яхтами, частными самолетами, наручными часами и недвижимостью, но не с автомобилями. Такое утверждение воспринимается большинством нормальных людей как верх самоуверенности. Оно даже немного отталкивает: на ум приходят пошлые рекламные слоганы и ТВ-ролики, в которых самый унылый седан пожилого откатчика выставляется стремительным и несравненным автомобилем мечты альфа-особи.
Действительно, даже длиннобазный Phantom, цена которого лишь начинается с отметки 44,5 млн рублей, по формальным признакам — автомобиль. Разве что цену его впору сравнивать с катерами, штучными хронографами и загородными особняками. И вот это уже требует объяснений. Для начала придется принять следующие тезисы:
Покупатель Rolls-Royce не нуждается в автомобиле. Автомобили у него уже есть.
Компания Rolls-Royce не заинтересована в том, чтобы производить существенно больше автомобилей.
В Rolls-Royce подразумевают, что их автомобиль может служить клиенту десятилетиями.
Инженеры Rolls-Royce могут использовать любые передовые технологии группы BMW – равно как и не использовать их.
Сколько на самом деле стоит Rolls-Royce, не знает никто – опубликованные цены даны нам лишь как ориентиры нижнего порога.
Rolls-Royce не имеет дела со спортом. Соревнование с кем-либо в чем-либо не совпадает с философией марки.
Rolls-Royce с пробегом – это прежде всего автомобиль в наличии.
Список этих тезисов, бросающих вызов самим принципам современного автомобильного рынка и маркетинга, можно было бы продолжить. Но Rolls-Royce не причисляет себя к автомобильному рынку. Да и в сегменте предметов роскоши они претендуют на особенное место. Особенное среди особенного, понимаете?
Представители компании называют Rolls-Royce главным мировым символом роскоши, единственной маркой категории ультралюкс. Это сразу хочется если не оспорить, то хотя бы проверить сравнениями. И вот что получается: любой люксовый бренд, который мы легко сможем назвать, окажется, скажем так, недостаточно недоступным.
Например, накопив несколько сотен евро, в магазине Louis Vuitton можно купить хотя бы обложку для паспорта, а стать владельцем наручных часов Jaeger-LeCoultre можно по цене легкового автомобиля — если утрировать, автомобиль могут позволить себе многие (загляните в любой подмосковный двор).
Ну а по-настоящему недоступные люксовые бренды лишены сравнимой символической силы. Rolls-Royce — это культурный код, который легко считает даже подросток из беднейшего штата Индии. Того же нельзя сказать о A. Lange & Söhne на запястье, бриллиантовом шедевре Graff Diamonds или моторном катере Boesch.
В то же время Rolls-Royce — исключительно функциональная роскошь. Если хронограф с двуосным турбийоном странно рассматривать как прибор для измерения времени, то изделие из Гудвуда обязано быть превосходным автомобилем. И пусть абстрагироваться от благородного имени и аристократической родословной невозможно, мы вправе оценить Phantom именно как автомобиль.
Роль второго плана
Инженеры Rolls-Royce заявляют, что Phantom — самый тихий автомобиль в мире. До этого так говорили об S-Классе Mercedes-Maybach. Да, инструментальные замеры покажут, что в «Фантоме» тише, но мой слух уже не способен уловить существенную разницу в этом едва различимом фоне. Phantom практически избавили от гула шин (в них шумопоглощающие вставки) и уложили вокруг салона 130 килограммов шумоизоляции. Здесь нет активного подавления шумов, как, например, в автомобилях Cadillac, но по ощущениям, давить уже нечего.
Говорят, во время испытаний пришлось заново откалибровать всю акустическую аппаратуру, чтобы она хотя бы что-то фиксировала. Двойные ламинированные стекла толщиной 6 миллиметров сдерживают все, что приходит снаружи, а внутри все тонет в ковриках из овечьей шерсти.
Легкий мандраж простителен, когда электропривод закрывает за тобой дверь — и пусть она алюминиевая, массивная ручка на ней — из полированной нержавеющей стали. Повышенное напряжение и вспотевшие ладони — это вообще нормально для человека, который ведет очень длинный и широкий седан стоимостью более 40 миллионов рублей (насколько «более» известно немногим, и они не расскажут). Но Phantom гасит это напряжение. Через минуту ты уже спокоен, через пять — уверен.
Даже Phantom со стандартной базой простирается в длину на 5,76 метра. Это как длинный Range Rover и еще плюс 36 сантиметров. Кажется, их прибавили прямо к капоту, край которого вдалеке обозначает статуэтка Дух экстаза. Похоже, длинный Range Rover не с проста возник в памяти: посадка в кресле водителя высокая, как во внедорожнике — я сижу высоко и прямо. Развалиться за рулем тоже можно, но это не самая естественная поза в Фантоме. И вообще, как это «развалиться»! Я ведь на месте шофера. Да, на самом роскошном месте шофера в мире. Мне довелось управлять практически всеми серийными люксовыми седанами современности, поэтому могу утверждать: водить Phantom — привилегия.
Большой руль с тонким ободом легкий, но он дает шоферу достаточно информации, чтобы делать свою работу безупречно и не утомляться. Смотреть на невозможно красивые приборы (самые «аналоговые» среди цифровых!) не обязательно — все берет на себя огромная (3 х 7 дюймов) проекция на лобовое стекло.
За непоколебимость кузова отвечают пневмостойки на обеих осях и амортизаторы с электронным управлением. Под лобовым стеклом — стереокамера, которая высматривает неровности и позволяет Фантому приготовиться их демпфировать. Напоминает Mercedes S-Класса, верно? Только действие системы основано не на гидропружинах, а на активных стабилизаторах поперечной устойчивости, которые обычно применяются на самых роскошных внедорожниках. Систему назвали Flagbearer («флагоносец»), отсылая к ранней автомобильной эпохе Великобритании, когда перед машиной должен был идти человек с флагом.
Крыша «Фантома» соединяется с боковинами алюминиевого кузова без стыка. Сварные швы проходят примерно на второй трети высоты задних стоек и третьей четверти передних. Крыша приваривается к боковинам вручную, поэтому для точности два сварщика занимаются левой и правой стороной синхронно.
Правда ее работу очень тяжело разобрать в поступи Фантома — Роллс-Ройсы с незапамятных времен умеют будто стелиться над землей. Разве что крены и клевки оказались меньше ожидаемых. Будто и нет массы в 2,6 тонны. Схожее волшебство происходит и с габаритами — исполинскую длину и колесную базу более 3,5 метра скрадывает поворотный механизм задних колес. Phantom оказывается неожиданно маневренным для своих габаритов.
Разгон исполина трудно назвать стремительным — он делает все, чтобы смягчить перегрузки, хотя и набирает «сотню» за 5,3 секунды. Главная характеристика V12 — огромный крутящий момент в 900 Ньютон-метров, доступный практически на любых оборотах. Он всегда готов — потому у Роллс-Ройсов и нет тахометра. Его место занимает указатель резерва мощности.
Будто понимая, что окутывает шофера слишком уж идеальным коконом, Phantom следит за разметкой, ограничениями скорости, пешеходами, опасными сближениями, поперечным трафиком и собственно состоянием водителя. Вернуть концентрацию помогает массаж — впервые эта опция показалась мне необходимой в автомобиле. Phantom будто пытается все предвидеть — и смотрит далеко. Лазерный дальний свет бьет на максимально разрешенные 600 метров, но его все же дополняет система ночного видения. Восьмидиапазонный автомат ZF учитывает данные навигации и потому заранее знает о поворотах и подъемах.
Вы, вероятно, заметите, что все блага цивилизации, описанные выше, уже давно применяются на других дорогих и прогрессивных автомобилях. Верно! Любая технология должна пройти «фейс-контроль» инженеров Rolls-Royce, который чаще всего сводится к разумному испытанию временем. И даже если многие системы убрать совсем, неизменным останется самое главное. Несколько часов подряд за рулем Фантома не утомляют — и в этой важнейшей категории он превосходит даже Ghost.
Борт номер один
Мы уже многое знаем о Фантоме, но понять его можно только сидя на заднем сиденье. Повысим ставки: на сиденье удлиненной на 20 сантиметров версии Extended Wheelbase. Это и есть та самая «ультимативная роскошь».
Последний необходимый элемент — шофер. В безупречном сером костюме и ботинках с кожаной подошвой. Так нога лучше ощущает педали, считает глава академии шоферов Rolls-Royce Энди Маккеникс. Его ученики знают, как и когда открыть дверь, как повернуть зеркало, чтобы обеспечить пассажиру приватность, но сохранить визуальный контакт, почему надо останавливаться в метре от тротуара, и еще много такого, чего нам знать не положено.
Трудно чем-то удивить человека, которому довелось быть пассажиром 12-цилиндрового Mercedes-Maybach. А ведь комфорт «Майбаха» совершенно иной. В нем ты все время полулежишь (за исключением тех моментов, когда ты действительно лежишь на разложенном «в горизонт» ложементе заднего сиденья-оттоманки). Я со своим ростом в 175 см и в обычном S-Классе мог устроиться не хуже, чем в бизнес-салоне трансатлантического самолета, а Mercedes-Maybach прибавил простора там, куда я и раньше не мог дотянуться. Плюс массаж с эффектом горячих камней, подогрев подлокотников… Да-да, втрое более доступный S 650 дает ничуть не менее «дорогие» ощущения и предлагает больше развлечений. Массажем, климатом и медиасистемой можно управлять хоть с пульта, хоть прямо со смартфона. Это оценит любой пассажир, а особенно тот, кто пытался (безуспешно) дотянуться до блока заднего климата в Майбахе.
Компания Rolls-Royce представила второй из трех экземпляров кабриолета Boat Tail. Автомобиль создан подразделением Rolls-Royce Coachbuild, и представляет собой «Фантом» с оригинальным кузовом и особой отделкой. Например, вдохновением для кузовной краски Boat Tail послужили жемчужные ракушки; его задняя часть отделана шпоном орешника, а статуэтка Spirit of Ecstasy выполнена из розового золота. Стоимость машины не уточняется, но первый экземпляр серии, по некоторым данным, обошелся покупателям в 28 миллионов долларов.
Кабриолет Boat Tail напомнил о золотой эре кузовостроения и стал первым продуктом вновь образованного подразделения Rolls-Royce Coachbuild. Тираж ограничен тремя экземплярами. Первый показали в прошлом году. Теперь же готов второй. Он дебютировал на Конкурсе элегантности Вилла д’Эсте в Италии. Заказчик «Яхтенного хвоста» — владелец семейного бизнеса по добыче жемчуга. Своими успехами он обязан отцу, и автомобиль выступает не чем иным, как данью уважения к семейному наследию.
В основе Boat Tail лежит платформа Architecture of Luxury «восьмого» Phantom. Кузов сделан из цельных листов алюминия с минимумом стыков, что придает автомобилю сходство с гоночными яхтами начала XX века. Цвет — смесь устричного с нежно-розовым — создан под вдохновением от жемчужных ракушек, предоставленных самим клиентом. Один из самых сложных колеров отделения Bespoke содержит крупные белые и бронзовые слюдяные «чешуйки», заставляющие краску переливаться при разном освещении.
Контрастный коньячный капот изготовлен специально для кабриолета. Глубину и теплый оттенок ему придают алюминиевые вкрапления бронзового и золотистого цвета, а также «заиндевевший» матовый лак. Нижняя часть кузова облицована углепластиком, в структуру которого вплетена нить розового золота.
Драгоценный металл также использован для статуэтки Spirit of Ecstasy. Корма с распашными створками «крылья бабочки» отделана шпоном орешника. Со временем он будет менять цвет и по тону приблизится к коньяку. Салон украшен тем же шпоном Royal Walnut и кожей под цвет кузова с перламутровой отделкой.
Из перламутра заодно сделаны циферблат часов на центральной консоли, рычажки и переключатели. Материал для них взят из собственной коллекции клиента. А вот техника «Фантома» осталась нетронутой, то есть под капотом установлены битурбомотор V12 объемом 6,75 литра (571 л.с., 900 Нм) и восьмиступенчатый автомат ZF. Кабриолет Rolls-Royce Boat Tail прошел необходимый цикл ездовых испытаний и сертифицирован для дорог общего пользования.
По некоторым данным, первый Rolls-Royce Boat Tail принадлежит певице Бейонсе и её супругу, рэперу Jay-Z. Автомобиль им обошелся в 28 миллионов долларов.

In the 1930s, the motor car of choice for the most discerning and affluent gentleman was the Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Saloon. Now The Gentleman’s Tourer Phantom captures the essence of these spirited journeys and sybaritic adventures. Its Iced Gunmetal exterior, with contrasting Silver Satin Bonnet, is influenced by high performance aircraft. The interior highlight is the Cascade Steel Gallery finished in Ruthenium, a rare and precious metal from the Platinum group.
Horology Phantom
Horology Phantom was inspired by the complexities and movements of exotic Swiss timepieces, such as those worn by many Rolls-Royce patrons.Gold and Silver hues are set against the Gunmetal lower and Black upper two-tone exterior, while the Spirit of Ecstasy is cloaked in 24-carat gold. Inside, the largest stainless steel and gold inlay ever made for Phantom is proudly presented. Positioned below a multiple layered stainless steel Gallery, the inlay depicts an abstract schematic of a watch movement.
Digital Soul Phantom
Fusing human endeavour with computer generated design, Digital Soul celebrates the harnessing of technology to render an artwork that is entirely unique. A two-tone exterior colourway of Carrara White upper andSmokey Quartz lower is echoed by an interior of Seashell and Dark Spice leathers. But the nexus of this exquisite motor car is the Gallery, in which its Patron's DNA and character is captured and transcribed onto stainless steel using 3D printing and then plated in 24-carat gold.
Arabian Gulf Phantom
Arabian Gulf Phantom adopts the rich colours and historical narrative of pearl diving in the Middle East. The Turchese exterior hue is evocative of the vibrant local waters, while the Andalusian White upper two-tone recalls the purity of natural pearls. Inside, the Turchese Gallery prominently portrays a sense of movement, inspired by swelling oceans, while a Mother of Pearl clock punctuates the vibrant Gallery, providing theperfect counterpoint to it’s sculptural aesthetic.

We receive many requests for sponsorship, funding and donations, and whilst we are a keen supporter of local charities sadly we cannot support every worthy cause which is brought to our attention. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars selects a house charity each year to be our primary charitable focus, for 2019 the charity we have chosen is Home-Start Arun.
Home-Start Arun promotes the welfare of families in the Arun, Worthing and Adur District Council areas, to alleviate stress and conflict at home and prevent family crisis and breakdown.

Unfortunately, we no longer offer a public tour programme. Should this change in the future, we will update our website.

Regrettably, due to the volume of requests we receive for work experience placements from the children of our employees, we are unable to offer a placement at this time.
