Despite the blocky, herky-jerky quality of their visuals, 2014’s The Lego Movie and its box-office-ruling spinoff, The Lego Batman Movie, were not actually filmed in stop-motion. (It would have cost tens of thousands of dollars to buy the bricks alone.) Instead, The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay labored to replicate the analog effect digitally, drawing on his work for TV shows like Robot Chicken. Given his experience, we asked him for some tips on how to make a (legitimately stop-motion) Lego movie of our own. Low-budget, of course—we don’t have tens of thousands either.

Anchor Everything

Getting that perfect stop-motion feel requires keeping both your camera and the set nice and stable. McKay recommends a GorillaPod, a flexible tripod that can anchor a phone to most surfaces. Securing the Legos is easier, since the pieces are designed to stick together. Just weigh down the sides of the set to make sure you don’t accidentally move it between frames.

Light It Up

Good illumination is essential to achieving a professional look, but the small scale of the Lego pieces makes it tricky to use traditional stage lighting. Craft and hobby stores—especially those selling trains and holiday figurines—usually stock mini LEDs. McKay says they give Lego sets a cinematic sheen that makes the bricks look larger and more alive.

And . action! Apps like Stop Motion Studio save you from having to manually stitch hundreds or thousands of images into a video. Simply open the app, take a photo, move your character a tiny bit, and then repeat. “You have to build or find everything you need on set. You can’t draw your way out of a problem,” McKay says. “It’s a lot more like live-action filmmaking than it is like animation.” Except you can bend surly actors to your will.

Embrace Imperfection

As you’re manipulating figurines through a scene, don’t try to create hyperrealistic movements. It’s OK to have your Lego star’s hand go from up in the air to down on a table in one frame. As McKay says: “I think that is beautiful in its own charming way.”

Batman the Animated Series still holds a special place in fan's hearts. From the iconic score and excellent animation to its incredibly popular introduction of Harley Quinn, the series will always remain as the high bar in DC Animation. The only thing that could make that better? More Legos.

YouTube user Kyle Roberts (of Reckless Abndnmnt Pictures) posted a new video that depicts the iconic series opening in stop motion LEGO form. The intro follows the original perfectly, and subs in the original's backdrops with some handmade ones. The animation is immensely well done, especially the closeups, and you can watch the whole intro in the video above.

В первый раз что ле? Это ты ещё не видел, сколько x-вингов в лего выпустили, да и вообще, с момента выхода предыдущей модели прошло 7 лет, так что доебки твои не понятны, ибо 7 лет назад я был студентом, который не мог себе позволить тот бытмобиль (а на бу рынке он стоит под 40к)

У бэтмобиля из Снайдера только одна запоминающаяся сцена: штурм Припяти. И та не в сольнике.

А в чем прикол? Я всегда думал что конструкторы про полёт фантазии, можно строить что хочешь, а тут уже готовое. Никогда не понимал этого.

Тут всё просто. Набор по попсовой лицензии можно впаривать за намного большую цену, чем "полёт фантазии".

Наборы отдельно, ведро с "миллионом" деталек отдельно. Плюс никто не запрещает сконструировать что-то другое из нескольких наборов.

А мотик из него выпрыгивает?

А кто подскажет почему такая цена высокая на любое Лего? Чисто из за бренда? Есть гораздо более дешёвые аналоги..

1) Качество (хотя китайцы сей час очень сильно продвинулись, но непостоянство китайского уровня качества даёт о себе знать), детальки лучше собираются, меньше вариант брака, лучше упаковка и т.д.

2) Конечно же наценка за логотип лего, лего уже не просто компания по производству конструкторов детям, но БРЕНД, который может продавать наборы по гиковским тематикам (супергерои, фильмы, игры, машины) взрослым гикам, у которых есть деньги, много денег. Вся серия лего Архитектура впринципе подаётся как модели 18+ для взрослых успешных дяденек, который могут такое в свой кабинет поставить, где принимают деловых особ)

3) Продолжаем тему брендов, ещё и наценка за бренд Бэтмен (а конкретно за фильм который часто признается одним из лучших кинокомиксов в истории и стал, так сказать, классикой супергеройских фильмов), за бренд ДиСи, а это выплаты лицензиарам, никто-же не даст вот так вот просто делать наборчики по своему мегахайповому бренду.
