One of the simplest peace of gear I own as a synthesizer freak, but one of the the more inspiring!
I've been using Playtronica controllers for a couple months now and I love both (Touch Me and Playtron).
I like the "raw" aspect of the controllers, light, no enclosure but still attractive and solid. Except for the micro USB port, and that's why I only put 4 stars of 5: it's only lightly soldered to the board and mine has broken even if I use my toys carefully (and the same thing happened to one of my Playtrons). It would be nice if Playtronica could make this part more solid in a near future.
Of course there are a lot of stuff that could be added to a new version, such as the ability to choose the midi channel on the device or thank to an app, transpose midi notes or import custom scales; why note MIDI connection over bluetooth or wifi, or even just a standard MIDI DIN or minijack output.
But then it would be another product (or its evolution) and actually one thing I love about Touch Me and Playtron is that it's a very simple tool, pretty solid and that I can use straight forward without too many settings to adjust and this simplicity leads to a cheap product that lots of people (even non musicians) can afford. And the limits of the gear often leads to creativity and new sources of inspiration!
For me, it has opened many doors allready and I keep having new ideas of art and musical installations using these toys, it's an infinte playground! As I keep following the news and take part in the group community exchanges on Playtronica's forums, I also must say I like…

What's the difference between Playtron and TouchMe?
TouchMe is designed for two objects or two people. When the intensity (area) of the touch changes, the pitch of the note changes. You can choose the key and frets to adjust to the composition.
Playtron is created to play on up to 16 objects; each has its note, which does not change depending on the touch. This way, you can make a musical keyboard from any conductive objects.
TouchMe device is more of a sensory music gadget where the pitch of the note changes depending on your touch's intensity, while Playtron is making a keyboard out of conductive objects.
Why doesn't your device have a body? Won't it break?
Don't worry! Our devices are not as fragile as they look! They are long-lasting and can withstand pressure.
We chose bare PCB to preserve the functionality of the design and DIY aesthetics. They also make our devices more eco-friendly, and show that electronics are pretty straightforward.
Can I use my sounds?
Sure! The MIDI-controller works with every musical program, and the sound choice is not limited.
What do I need to play on the devices?
You need a PC, a tablet, a smartphone or a DAW-less synth. You also need a USB-adapter and a music app, such as GarageBand, for example.
Is current dangerous for my health?
Definitely not! The current impulse is so slight that it can't influence your health.
But we don’t recommend people with pacemakers to use the devices (just in case).

Российская компания Playtronica привезла на выставку Sonar+D 2018 два интересных музыкальных девайса — Playtronica Playtron и Playtronica Touch Me. С помощью специальной платы и набора кабелей, Playtron и Touch Me позволяют превратить любой предмет в MIDI-контроллер.

На стенде компании побывали журналисты издания FACT, которые засняли возможности показанных устройств. Так, Playtron описывается как «электронное устройство, позволяющее превратить любой предмет в музыкальный инструмент». Главное условие — предмет должен обладать хорошей проводимостью. С помощью Playtron музыканты могут соединить воду (!), фрукты или собственное тело с компьютером, смартфоном и синтезатором и управлять техникой через USB MIDI. К примеру, можно соединить три ананаса между собой и использовать их как MIDI-контроллер.
Контроллер Playtronica Touch Me
Что касается Playtronica Touch Me, то создатели описывают его как «устройство, превращающее человеческие прикосновения в музыку». Изменение звука происходит на основе заданных параметров по мере изменения силы нажатия или площади контакта.
Помимо Playtron и Touch Me, компания также показала неназванный контроллер на основе цветовой палитры, который можно использовать в качестве секвенсора.
Контроллеры полностью совместимы с любым музыкальным программным обеспечением. На своем сайте разработчики отмечают, что девайсы без проблем функционируют вместе с Ableton Live, Garage Band (а значит и Logic Pro X) и другим софтом. Тем, кто не хочет заморачиваться с программами, Playtronica подготовила также большую библиотеку веб-синтезаторов и специальный веб-семплер, работающие прямо в окне браузера. Шикарно!

Нежнейшая искусственная норка, серенькая с лёгким сиреневым отливом, опилочки, стеклянный гранулят, тонировка сухой пастелью. Стеклянные глазки и лепной полимерный носик, покрытый лаком. Всё как полагается, в общем. Голова и лапки на подвижном шплинтовом креплении.
Upd. Кролик дом нашёл.
