Snowspeeders are T-47 airspeeders that the Rebels used on the snow planet of Hoth. They had harpoon tow cable guns, and could fit two people, one facing forward, and one facing backward. LEGO ® made them five (six including the Mini set) different times. Once in 1999, twice in 2004, once in 2007, and once in 2010.

1999 Version

The 1999 version of the snowspeeder was made out

2004 Version

The 2004 version of the Snowspeeder was released in white.It too came with an anti-vehicle artillery P-Tower. The set was called Rebel Snowspeeder, and it included 3 minifigures: Luke Skywalker, Dak Ralter, and a Hoth Rebel Trooper. The Luke came with a blue Lightsaber, and the Rebel trooper came with a gun. On the back of the Snowspeeder was a harpoon gun, with a Lego harpoon, attached to a piece of string.

Second 2004 Version

2004 Ultimate Collector's set

The second Snowspeeder made in 2004 was a Ultimate Collector's Set. It had a massive 1,457 pieces! and came with a collecter's card and display stand. It's set number was 10129, and it's set name was Rebel Snowspeeder. The cockpit and outside of the ship were extremely detailed, and it had moving controls on the inside. The set was not made for minifigures, and it was much bigger than the other Lego snowspeeders.

2007 Version

The 2007 version of the rebel snowspeeder was included in the setHoth Rebel Base. The speeder was supposed to be the speeder that was used by Luke Skywalker and Dack Ralter, because the set came with they're minifigures. This set was unique in a way, because the front grill was grey, instead of orange like all the other snowspeeders. This was the first first snowspeeder to include a harpoon piece.

В ожидании этого знаменательного события, компания LEGO выпустила серию конструкторов «Star Wars. 20th Anniversary Edition», ведь именно столько лет она выпускает игрушки по знаменитой вселенной. В серию вошли самые знаменитые персонажи и техника, которые так полюбились всем поклонникам звездного эпика.

В мои руки попал один из таких наборов, а именно Snowspeeder (id 75259). Модели, входящие в комплект, обыгрывают битву на заснеженной планете Хот, показанную в фильме «Звездные Войны. Эпизод V: Империя наносит ответный удар». Это именно там молодой Люк Скайокер, пилотируя корабль Snowspeeder, опутал ноги монструозного шагохода AT-AT, дав повстанцам необходимое время для отступления.

В наборе 309 деталей, который, помимо корабля, включает также повстанческую пушку, Люка Скайокера в образе пилота, еще одного пилота-повстанца, а также одного из членов сопротивления в снежном камуфляже. Помимо этого, в каждый набор серии входит один дополнительный основной персонаж звездной саги. В нашем случае им оказался Лэндо Калриссиан – первый владелец «Тысячелетнего сокола» и барон-администратор Облачного города.

Стоит также отметить, что как «Снежный гонщик», так и Лэндо уже появлялись ранее в наборах LEGO: первый с альтернативной расцветкой в 1999 году, второй – в 2003 году.

Для удобства сборки, детали расфасованы по четырем пакетам, каждый из которых позволяет собрать законченный модуль. Впрочем, если перемешать их между собой, то можно увеличить время и интерес сборки. Так же в комплект входит стикер с наклейками и брошюра, рассказывающая об отличительных особенностях набора и содержащая подробный мануал по сборке.

Набор рассчитан на детей от 7 лет. Понравилась интерактивность моделей. Например, пушка способна поворачиваться вокруг оси, наклоняться и даже стрелять «пинами» с помощью небольшого рычажка. Корабль же умеет стрелять ракетами, кабина открывается, а крюк сматывается. Все панели управления и приборные люки обозначены соответствующими наклейками. У каждого пилота истребителя есть по два выражения лица. Модель корабля имеет размеры 15x20 см, пушки – 6,5x6,5 см.

Качество деталей проверено годами – сломать что-либо практически невозможно. Финальная конструкция тоже довольно надежная, и позволяет детям играть с ней, не боясь повредить, а если что-то из мелких деталей и отвалится, то легко закрепляется обратно. Также, имеется несколько запасных мелких деталей.

Никаких сложностей со сборкой у меня не возникло: на все про все я потратил примерно 1,5 часа.

Наборы «Star Wars. 20th Anniversary Edition» станут отличным подарком на Новый год не только детям, но и всем поклонникам Звездных Войн или конструкторов LEGO. Jordan David Scott: The larger scale of the UCS Star Wars models really allows us as designers to be able to match the reference as closely as possible in LEGO form. As the UCS models are targeted more towards adults, the age of building increases and that allows us designers to build with more advanced techniques and include much more detail. For the LEGO Snowspeeder, it allowed me to include more advanced functions like the moving airbrakes, rotating tow cable, and the subtle angles of the turbolasers.

Jordan David Scott: Once we knew we were going to be building the UCS Snowspeeder, I actually started looking at the previous version that was released back in 2003 to get an idea of scale and where I could improve with the new assortment of elements we currently have. What is funny about this model is when I started working at the LEGO Group, my mentor at the time, Bjarke Madsen, told me he had built the 2003 Snowspeeder. So, in a way, it seemed very fitting that 14 years later I would get to design and build the new version.

I started the model as I do with most other designs — just start building physically! It is important for UCS to be extremely accurate, detailed, and have functions wherever possible. This led to incorporating the moveable airbrakes and rear tow cable gun. I built multiple versions of the chassis and functional parts in order to have a solid foundation, while still leaving spaces to start having fun with detailing. I also built many different versions of the wings to make sure I replicated the angle of them as closely as possible.

Jordan David Scott: I agree, from a distance, the snowspeeder looks very simple and angular, but when that comes to building it using LEGO bricks, the angles can be quite challenging. I think the biggest challenge I faced when building were the front angles below the cockpit. It took days of experimentation with every hinged element we have available, in every combination I could think of. I talked to our Star Wars design team and other project teams often to get more ideas. The wealth of knowledge in the LEGO design team is incredible, and so we try to talk to each other as much as possible.

Jordan David Scott: For me, building in details is super fun, and so I really hope fans appreciate these. I loved building things like the back-to-back seats, using the space gun element as joysticks, creating the tow cable function from inside the rear gunner position, and using the LEGO minifigure ski blade — I really love that piece as a detail! I also hope that fans will appreciate the new windscreen element we made specially for the UCS LEGO Snowspeeder. However, one of the most important aspects of this model that I wanted to replicate from the movie were the turbolasers built on an angle. I know this is a seemingly insignificant detail that may go unnoticed, but it was something I really wanted to build in and I hope it is appreciated.

Jordan David Scott: Thankfully I never dropped it — it is a pretty robust model. Although, now that I think about it, it may be fun to step on it and recreate the scene with the AT-AT from the movie.
