Items are a special class of Model found in LEGO Worlds that cannot be placed in the game world, but can be collected and discovered. Many of them are found in Treasure Chests, while some can be collected from items and creatures in the world itself, or purchased from the Trader, and still others only found through completing Quests. A rare few are only obtainable by collecting Gold Bricks in order to unlock them.
Many items are weapons, used to enhance the Player's combat abilities, or damage certain monsters that are invulnerable to normal weapons. There are some few, rare, items with strange effects on the world, like growing a tree, a cloud or a giant beanstalk! And there are interesting items that help the Player in their quest to explore the world.
In addition to their functional uses, many Items are also used to complete Quests to unlock Characters and Creatures, (after which the Item is permanently consumed). Collect whatever you find, because you never know when you're going to need it! (Note that the Inventory limits the Player to carrying no more than 99 of any Item).
There are currently a lot of Items to be found in the game (almost 200!).

Items
Gold Brick Unlocks
These Items can only be obtained by collecting enough Gold Bricks to unlock them.
Ranged Weapons
With a ranged weapon equipped, press attack to fire at a distant target. For more precise targeting, hold on PC ( [PS4], [Xbox One], [Switch]) to enter targeting mode, then click when the cursor highlights over a target. Multiple projectiles may be fired at a time, limited only by the weapon speed. Warning: Attempting to attack a target in melee range with a ranged weapon will do a melee attack instead (reducing damage to 1 per attack).
Bows, Spears and Guns
Standard projectile weapons. With the exception of explosive weapons like the Bazooka, these generally can't damage structures, only Characters and Objects. The explosive ones will not only blow up buildings, but can even affect normally invulnerable creatures!
Arrow-type weapons (all Bows and Crossbows) fire in an arc, so even when targeting something, the projectile will fire upwards in order to reach the target downrange.
Spear-type weapons (Spears and Tridents) fire in an even steeper arc, so beware launching them underground. The infinity symbol (∞) merely indicates that you have unlimited ammo. Giving these items away as a Quest still removes them from your inventory.
Bullet-type weapons (Guns and Lasers) fire in a straight line.

Gun-type weapons
Causes a big explosion where it hits, destroying land and Objects.
Explosion is 18 studs in diameter
Will damage ALL creatures (even those invulnerable to normal weapons)
Does 4 to invulnerable Characters and Creatures.
These weapons do very little damage by themselves, but cause paint to splatter across the environment. Depending on the paint, this can have VERY dire consequences indeed! Will NOT paint the surface of water, but will pass through, painting the surface beneath.
Melee Weapons
With a melee weapon equipped, press attack to swing at your opponent. Be careful, as your attacks may hurt anyone, even the Character you are trying to protect!
Swords, Spears and Clubs
Throwable Items
Generally, pressing while holding one of these items will throw it in the direction of or at a target. Be careful, as some things will have unusual effects when thrown! Thrown items when used to melee do 1 point of regular damage, regardless of what they are made of.
Food and Other Items
While these can technically be thrown, for the most part, they have no effect when thrown. They are generally used as Quest items.
Special Items
These items have a special use, and generally can't be used to attack, or have no real effect when swung.
Models were a part of the Quick Menu during Early Access. Now it is simply a catch-all reference to anything that can be built or placed or found in the world.

Items
Items are obtained from Treasure Chests and various Quests and even from collecting them from broken Objects in the world. Items consist of a variety of melee and ranged weapons as well as various useful items. Weapons greatly increase the combat abilities of the Player by enabling ranged combat and granting greater damage. Many Items are used to complete Quests in the game.
Characters
Characters are randomly found throughout the world in every Biome. Friendly and neutral characters are unlocked by completing Quests. Aggressive and Hostile Characters must be defeated in combat to be unlocked. Once unlocked, these new Characters must still be purchased in order to change to that Character or to place it into the world. Unlocking a Character also unlocks all of its parts for use in the Character Customizer.
Creatures
Creatures are randomly found in the world. Most are unlocked automatically or by completing a Quest for them. After unlocking they can be bought and afterwards spawned as often as wanted. Many creatures can be mounted and ridden around the landscape, through the seas or through the skies.
Vehicles
Vehicles are found randomly generated in nearly every Biome and can be unlocked using the Discovery Tool. No quest is needed to be completed to Discover a vehicle, but it must still be unlocked by paying Studs. After purchase Vehicles can be spawned an unlimited time for free. Some vehicles are discovered through special Codes.
Brick Builds
Brick Builds are a set of complex pre-defined structures, many of which are also found randomly generated in the world. A few Brick Builds are available right away and they do not need to be purchased, but the rest must be discovered through Treasure Chests, completing Quests or by downloading them through the Build Showcase. Original Brick Builds can either be imported from a build system like the LEGO Digital Designer or by using the in-game tools to build your own then selecting and copying it with the Copy Tool.
Objects
Objects are all things that can be found in the world: furniture, plants, decorations, etc. They are easily discovered using the Discovery Tool but must be still be purchased before they are able to be placed in the world. Several Quests involve placing one or more Objects within a specified area.
