How To Upload Your Banner To Twitch

A guide walking you through step-by-step how to upload the banner to your channel

Head over to your creator dashboard, which you can find by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner, then creator dashboard.

On the left-hand side of your screen, you should now see your dashboard. To open your channel settings, click on settings and then on channel.

Click on brand on the top of your screen and scroll down until you see your profile banner settings.

Select custom and click upload. You’ll now be able to upload the custom banner that you have created. That’s it!

Where Is My Profile Banner Visible?

Since the update in spring of 2020, banners are now visible in multiple different places.

Desktop Profile

Desktop is still the most widely used in Twitch, which means this is where the majority will see your banner.

Mobile Profile

Mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular and unlike desktop, the whole banner is visible.

Subscription Feed

If a subscriber browses their sub feed, they will see your banner. Note that only the central part is visible.

The best Twitch banner size is 1200 x 480, i.e. 1200px in width and 480px in height.

Considering the banner is visible in multiple different places, it needs to be the correct size in order to look good.

How to Use Markdown On Your Twitch Profile Page

Markdown is an essential part of any Twitch profile page. It allows you to easily add stylized text to your panel sections with plain-text. It allows you to use fancy HTML styling, without needing to know HTML. This is how you’ll be able to add text based links, lists, and more within your Twitch panels. In this section we’ll go over everything you need to know to create beautiful markdown, which will make your profile not only stand out, but be easier to understand at a glance.

Markdown Types and Recommendations

Twitch markdown currently supports text emphasis, some forms formatting, and lists. Let’s cover each, and how they’d be used within your Twitch panels.

While using markdown is a bit much to learn without prior knowledge, it’s a crucial part of any stream. Let me show you one last example of how we can put everything together to create a gear list page that has an example of almost all the markdown we covered above.

We recommend copying the input text, and editing in a text editor before adding into your panel. It makes things a bit easier to edit.

Once you’re finished, it’s a good idea to back up your markdown as a .txt file!

Text Emphasis

Text emphasis with markdown allows you to apply certain effects to text. Examples would be bold text, italic text, anchor link text, and headers.

When to use Text Emphasis

This type of markdown can be especially useful in text heavy panels. Chat rules, in particular comes to mind, when using headings and bold text. Remember, the goal is to make things easier to read at a glance, so overusing certain types is not recommended. The anchor links are especially useful for links that don’t require their own panel or that make sense being nested within other panels.

Lists

There are two types of lists: unordered lists and ordered lists.

Unordered lists represent a list that does not have a specific order to follow. For example, listing out the specs of your PC or current gear is perfect for an unordered list.

Ordered lists are best used when following an order of events is important. For example, if you wanted to tell people how to join your Discord server you could use an ordered list to list the step-by-step instructions here. However, Twitch currently does not distinguish between these in their design (despite the official blog post).

Оформляем описание канала

После того как мы определились с набором панелей, открываем Twitch. Здесь нажимаем на иконку с вашей аватаркой в верхнем правом углу, в появившемся списке — на раздел Канал.

Открылась страница вашего канала. Переходим на вкладку Описание и переводим переключатель Редактировать панели в активное положение.

Добавляем панель Донат

Если вы хотите, чтобы при нажатии на картинку, зрители попадали на страницу доната, то нужно вставить ссылку на вашу страницу доната в строку Ссылки-изображения на. Ссылку на донат можно найти, если в личном кабинете Donatty пройти на вкладку Виджеты и нажать на карточку страницы доната.

Также можно разместить ссылку в описании под панелью. Для этого вставьте ссылку в поле Описание. Это поле поддерживает язык разметки текстов Markdown. Ссылку можно оформить с помощью квадратных и круглых скобок. В квадратных указывается заголовок, а в круглые - непосредственно сама ссылка.
