This is just something I wrote while listening to Gooey by the Glass Animals and a bit of First love/Late Spring by Mitski.
He didn’t know exactly what possessed him to drink them, or why he was thinking of his old lover, but here he was, listening to the wind and trying not to think about how great it felt back then. If it was like back then, he would have his partner sitting right next to him, drinking as much if not more than him. They would giggle the night away without a care in the world because there were no worries, nothing to stop them, nothing in the way. Although, now there were plenty of things to worry about, and he knows Wukong is sitting in his pretty little mountain and acting as if it wasn’t even happening.

Five-hundred years after the Demon Bull King's imprisonment, Macaque met Monkey King's successor, MK, who wanted Macaque to train him so he could get better. Macaque accepted and slowly corrupted MK as he trained him until he stole his powers, getting the same abilities as Monkey King's. Eventually, he engaged in a battle with Monkey King and was later defeated by MK.
As time passed, Macaque posed as a puppeteer to kidnap MK's friends while telling his story about him and Monkey King to MK, who relates heavily. After learning about MK's insecurities, Macaque toys with MK by having the shadow versions of his friends fight him until he changed his mind, and later warned MK about something he'll deal with in the future. Before Macaque could do anything else, he was encountered by the Mayor.

History
Early Life
Macaque and the Monkey King started out as friends and fought alongside each other in the Celestial Realm and on Earth. However, as the Monkey King continued to get more powerful, Macaque was left behind and grew a disliking for the Monkey King. [4]
Eventually, Macaque engaged in a battle with the Monkey King and lost. But, a demon named the Lady Bone Demon saved him in exchange for him freeing her from an ancient tomb, which Lady Bone Demon would be locked away in. But once he was given the Skeleton Key, Macaque threw it away and sought out the Monkey King to get revenge on him. [5]
Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born
When MK arrived at a temple in Flower Fruit Mountain, he saw an illustration of Macaque and the Monkey King's other adversaries.
Macaque
MK believes that he is getting nowhere with his training under the Monkey King and trains under Macaque, not knowing his true intentions. Leading MK on a path to darkness, Macaque tricks MK and succeeds in stealing the power of the Monkey King from him, absorbing it and increasing his power. After a furious battle with the Monkey King, Macaque is defeated by MK, who regains his power.
Shadow Play
Macaque disguised himself as a puppeteer and told the story of The Hero and the Warrior, referring to him being friends with the Monkey King once before being forgotten. He toyed with MK by trapping his friends in the magic lantern and using them to fight him, after he shared his insecurities with him about the Lady Bone Demon and the thoughts of being the wrong successor to the Monkey King. After briefly fighting, Macaque destroyed the lantern and left, only to later return to get it back, but was confronted by the Mayor, who took the lantern as one of the ingredients to the bone mech and to bring him to the Lady Bone Demon.
After This is the End!
After being taken by the Mayor, Macaque learned that Lady Bone Demon had took over Megapolis and claimed possession of the Golden Staff. While meeting her, he was told about the promise he broke and to make up for it, he had to capture Monkey King and MK for her.

Personality
“You keep playing at being this bad guy, acting like you're just in it for you. But I know deep, deep down, you're not that guy.” ―MK [src]
Macaque, befitting his dark appearance and abilities, is a shady individual. He will try to gain the trust of others with promises of power, only to betray them to suit his own ends. As shown during his talk while training MK, he is an aggressive fighter who thinks that people with power should fight without mercy. Macaque, being a rival of the Monkey King, has a desire for power, and seeks to gain the Monkey King's power to surpass his former friend. Despite his antagonistic relationship with the Monkey King, Macaque seems to respect his strength, demanding him to show the "real" Sun Wukong in battle, and claiming the fact that he would hold back his strength on a kid to be pathetic.
Macaque considers heroes to be people who are selfish and only have regards for themselves, as they grow in power to the point that they come to care about nothing else and leave everyone they care of behind. Because of this, Macaque felt betrayed and abandoned by Monkey King once he became the hero that MK and everyone else know him as. His close death at the hands of Monkey King also led him to believe that friends only care about each other based on how useful they are to one another and nothing else.
Appearance
Macaque has a similar appearance to the Monkey King. However, he bears dark fur covering his body and tail. He has a feathered red marking across yellow eyes and thick bushy black eyebrows.

Macaque is a powerful spiritual primate much like the Monkey King and possesses all of his powers and abilities to match him a fight.
Skillset
- Immense Physical Attributes - Macaque possesses incredible physical abilities rivaling those of the Monkey King. He yields immense speed, strength, agility and reflexes to take Monkey King in a one on one fight.
- Immense Combat Skills - Macaque is one of the greatest fighter of the series. His skills in hand-to-hand combat make him a dangerous opponent for figures as powerful as the Monkey King.
- Staff Proficiency - Macaque's skill with his dark energy staff match those of the Monkey King's.
Powers
- Immortality - Macaque is ageless and immortal, able to live out the centuries and become known in the current times.
- Dark Chi Manipulation - Macaque appears to control a form of dark Chi energy. He can use this power to strengthen his physical attacks.
- Shadow Manipulation - With his dark Chi, Macaque can manipulate his own shadow to create the Shadow Monkeys, which mimics the Monkey King's replication ability.

Mechs
Etymology
The name Six-Eared Macaque is based off of the saying "a secret is not safe between six ears" or "the dharma is not to be transmitted to the sixth ear", while a macaque is a genus of monkey.
A mysterious and powerful figure shows up in the city, helping MK thwart an evil cloud of smoke. After introducing himself as the Macaque, this stranger offers to train MK. MK, tired of the “slow” teachings of Monkey King, jumps at the chance, hoping to learn more so he can defend the city, and his friends more effectively. But, the new teacher is actually an old enemy of the Monkey King and is trying to siphon the Monkey King’s powers from MK in order to defeat his fabled arch nemesis. It’s up to MK to learn that discipline is hard to come by and rise up and help the Monkey King before all his power is gone! [2]
While training with Monkey King, MK began to believed that he is getting nowhere with his training, claiming that he do something else other than hammering. Monkey King, however, states that he's not going to teach MK something if he doesn't need to know it. Suddenly, MK gets a call from Mei, who told him that the Smoke Monster is attacking Megapolis.
When MK returned to the city, he attempted to defeat the Smoke Monster all by himself, but failed. Moments later, MK and Mei see "Monkey King" battling the Smoke Monster and defeated it. When MK realized that "Monkey King" was actually Macaque, he asked him if he can train him, and Macaque accepted. Unbeknownst to MK, Macaque only agreed to so he can lead him into a path to darkness.
After MK began to train with Macaque for some time, the Monkey King began to get suspicious. Meanwhile, Macaque takes MK to where the Smoke Monster resided, claiming that he's now strong enough to defeat it. Although MK thought he couldn't do it at first, he decided to fight the Smoke Monster again after being convinced by Macaque. When he did, the Smoke Monster steals MK's powers and gave them to Macaque, revealing that it was working for him.
Before Macaque could do anymore harm to MK, Monkey King arrives and engages in a furious battle with him, but was stopped when Macaque had his Shadow Monkeys pin him down.
Macaque then used the Smoke Monster as an avatar to finish off MK, but had his punch block by Monkey King. After remembering what Monkey King said about "stepping into the strike", MK uses his remaining strength to lift the Golden Staff and use it to defeat Macaque and destroy the Smoke Monster.
After Macaque was defeated, Monkey King briefly gets mad at MK for going behind his back until the latter apologized, saying that he just wanted to be good like him. Later on, the two began training again, even though Monkey King was actually tricking MK to do chores.
