He didn’t know exactly what possessed him to drink them, or why he was thinking of his old lover, but here he was, listening to the wind and trying not to think about how great it felt back then. If it was like back then, he would have his partner sitting right next to him, drinking as much if not more than him. After several weeks, the Monkey King trained MK as well as giving him advice. However, when the Monkey King learned that Macaque was secretly training with MK so he can steal his powers, he engages with in a fight with him and was able to win after reminding MK about his training.
When the Monkey King was captured by the Spider Queen during New Year's, he, along with the Demon Bull King and several other demons were having their powers extracted until they were freed. He then teamed up with MK's team and the Demon Bull Family to defeat the Spider Demons, but not before realizing that Lady Bone Demon returned.
After learning that Lady Bone Demon was freed from her tomb, he left Flower Fruit Mountain to look for a weapon that could help him defeat her. Although he was too late after he and MK lost their powers, he continued to look for the weapon, but with the help of MK and his team.

Personality
As depicted in the legend in Monkie Kid, the Monkey King is a confident individual, especially in battle. He doesn't shy away from a challenge, regardless of the opponent's size or strength, as seen when he showed no fear in his fight against the Demon Bull King. When he encounters MK at Flower Fruit Mountain, he tells him that the Demon Bull King isn't an actual threat, as he stated that defeating the Demon Bull King would be considered a trial that MK can handle.
Since his retirement upon passing his Golden Staff to MK, the Monkey King has become somewhat lazy, often sitting around Flower Fruit Mountain eating. He doesn't step in fighting demons unless he is giving advice, or it concerns MK's well being. Despite his laziness, the Monkey King makes time to train MK. It is known he may have been quite violent, as he "would've leveled a whole mountain rage" to stop Macaque. [4]
In LEGO Brawls (non-canon)
The Monkey King is a playable character in LEGO Brawls. He is the fourth and final character that can be unlocked after collecting enough Season Trophies in the final week of Season 14 of LEGO Brawls. In addition, the Monkey King also portrays as the mascot for the Flower Fruit Mountain arena.
Appearance
The Monkey King is an anthropomorphic monkey relatively the size of an average human teenager with orange fur covering his body and tail, and peach fur for his torso, and peach skin for his face, ears, hands, and feet. The fur on his head is slicked back, tied in red ribbons. He has a pink heart-shaped marking across his face. He has yellow eyes with a prominent wing and thick black eyebrows.

The Golden Staff
The Golden Staff is legendary staff that used to belong to Monkey King. It was once used by the Monkey King to imprison the Demon Bull King under a mountain.
Alternate versions
Calabash counterpart
When MK was trapped in a magical artifact known as the Calabash, he was sent to a simulation of Megaoplis where everything's perfect. There, he encounters Monkey King's Calabash counterpart, who tried to persuade MK into accepting his new life in the Calabash.
Monkey King Clones
As of one of his abilities, the Monkey King can create clones of himself by using the strands of his fur.
Abilities

Over 500 years ago, the Monkey King was born from a magic stone at the top of Flower Fruit Mountain. After being born, Monkey King befriended the monkeys from the mountain and lived with them inside the Shuilian Cave. [2] In hopes of finding a weapon, Monkey King traveled to the East Sea and took the Golden Staff from the Dragon of the East. [3]
Monkey King then traveled to the Celestial Realm and stole the Peaches of Immortality and Lao Tzu's pills so he could become immortal. Eventually, he was thrown in the Trigram Furnace but escaped, earning his Golden Eyes of Truth during the process. [4]
Eventually, Monkey King met a demon named Macaque and the two became friends, fighting alongside each other throughout the Celestial Realms and Earth. However, as the Monkey King continued to get more powerful, he left Macaque behind before he went on. [5]
Sometime after that, Monkey King became a disciple to a monk named Tang Sanzeng. Along with Zhu Ganglie, Sha Wujing, and the White Horse Dragon, Monkey King traveled with Tang Sanzeng during their journey to the West while protecting him from certain demons that intended to eat the monk so they could become immortal. [6]
At some point, the Monkey King fought against several demons such as the Demon Bull King, his wife Princess Iron Fan, the brothers Jin and Yin, his former friend Macaque, and the Spider Queen. [2]
Demon Bull King's imprisonment
Eventually, the Demon Bull King arose from the Netherworld to wreak havoc on the world with his terrible power and laid waste to an unfortunate village. When it seemed that no one could stop him, the Monkey King appeared from nowhere and challenged him. Armed with his Golden Staff, the Monkey King engaged the Demon Bull King in intense combat, with the battle being nearly one-sided in the Monkey King's favor. At the climax of the fight, the Monkey King cut the top of a nearby mountain with his staff and used it to seal the Demon Bull King forever. [2]
Afterwards, the Monkey King vanished without a trace and wasn't seen for centuries. [2]
Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born
Five hundred years later, the Demon Bull King was freed from his prison thanks to the aid of his wife, Princess Iron Fan, his son, Red Son of the Demon Bull Family and the Bull Clones. The Demon Bull King's return attracts the attention of MK, who had acquired the Monkey King's staff, and his friends, and they set out to Flower Fruit Mountain to find the Monkey King for help.
After a run-in with Princess Iron Fan, and losing the staff to her in the fight, MK is separated from his friends but ends up at Flower Fruit Mountain. The Monkey King then encounters MK, telling him that he is fully aware that his staff was taken. Taking a liking to MK, he tells that he is perfect to be his successor, noting how he is the only one who can wield his staff. He tells MK to believe in himself before MK sets out to confront the Demon Bull King and retrieve the Gold Staff.
After MK and his allies defeat the Demon Bull Family, the Monkey King stood on top of the Monkey Mech's head, nodding in respect and acknowledge of his newfound successor as protector of the world.
Season 1
Bad Weather
After MK failed to stop Red Son, the Monkey King meets him to see how he's doing. When MK asked for his help, the Monkey King interrupts, saying that it's no longer his job to fight off bad guys. Although, the Monkey King says that MK needs self-confidence by practicing more, as it took him centuries of training and fighting off demons to do so. When MK says that Megapolis and his friends are counting on him, the Monkey King says that he's able to help by limiting MK's powers, but at the cost of him losing his invincibility. MK agreed and the Monkey King limits the former's powers.
Moments later, the Monkey King takes MK back to the Weather Station.
The Great Wall Race
While MK, Mei, and the Demon Bull Family were competing in the Great Wall Race, Monkey King was at Flower Fruit Mountian, eating an Immortal Peach, which was what the competitors raced for in the first place.
Impossible Delivery
After the Monkey King was able to beat MK during training, he tells MK that he's getting better and that they just need to work on his focus, but MK disagreed. When MK disagreed, the Monkey King tries to give him advice on focusing, but then tells MK that he can't handle real focus if he thinks that the advice doesn't make sense. Sometime after MK left, the Monkey King decided to order noodles from Pigsy's Noodles.
When MK was able to deliver the noodles to an ancient temple, he realized that Monkey King was the one who delivered the noodles and thought it was because he wanted him to learn a lesson about focusing. But was shocked to learn that he actually delivered the wrong noodles to the Monkey King.

Sleep Bug
After the battle with the Spider Demons, Monkey King lied to MK that he was leaving Flower Fruit Mountain to go on vacation, despite there being a possibility for Megapolis to be attacked again. Monkey King assured MK that there was nothing to worry about and that he needed to take care of himself while he's away. After leaving, Monkey King went off to look for something that could defeat Lady Bone Demon.
Dumpling Destruction
After leaving, the Monkey King traveled to the Celestial Realm to find answers about the Lady Bone Demon. However, he got into a fight with the Celestial Beings, causing a Celestial Dumpling to fall over and began a collision toward Megapolis. He later called MK to warn him about the Celestial Dumpling and that he needed something to destroy it while he continued to get answers about Lady Bone Demon.
Minor Scale
Monkey King was looking through inside the Bone Demon Cave until he received a call from MK, who wanted to check how his was doing on his supposed vacation. Monkey King replied that he couldn't talk to MK right now and told him that he should try shrinking himself as a new lesson, saying that he needed to "think little". After ending the call, Monkey King stood in front of a mural depicting Lady Bone Demon, punching it.
On the Run (flashback)
Monkey King went back to the Celestial Realm to claim the Map to the Rings of Samadhi while battling Ne Zha for it. Even knowing why he's not supposed to have it, the Monkey King was able to claim the map from Ne Zha, despite being badly damaged due to the protection spell. Monkey King soon learned that MK was in trouble and left to save him.
This is the End!
Monkey King arrived to stop the Lady Bone Demon just as she was about to defeat MK, but was too late as MK already lost his power and the Golden Staff was in the Bone Demon's possession. Lady Bone Demon told Monkey King that destiny cannot be changed, but the latter denied this, saying that it can. Monkey King then took MK far away as Lady Bone Demon destroyed the Golden Staff and began her plan to destroy the world.
After the two met up with the others, a distraught MK told Monkey King that they could've done something. Monkey King, however, replied that they couldn't have done anything to stop Lady Bone Demon. Angered, Pigsy got mad at Monkey King for not being there for MK before Sandy yelled at everyone to stop, saying that Monkey King should tell them why he left. Monkey King explained that the real reason he left was because he was looking for a weapon that could defeat the Lady Bone Demon. Despite not accepting MK's offer for him and his team to join at first, Monkey King let the others join him on a quest to stop Lady Bone Demon.

Smartie Kid
As a way to recover from his battle with Ne Zha, Monkey King began to do mystic meditation and explained the whole thing to MK, and told wake him up in the next one-hundred years. During his meditaion, Monkey King was wagered by MK, who partipated in the Goldfish Demon's game show so he could win an engine for the T.E.A.. But in the end, MK got Monkey King and the other valuables back after he regained his Gold Vision. After they got the engine, Monkey King took a break from his meditation, telling MK that the reason he was able to regain his Gold Vison powers was because it was when he needed it the most.
