Super Mario is a licensed theme released in 2020. The theme is based on the popular Nintendo video game series of the same name. The theme makes an extensive use of play features, as almost every set centres on a different challenge that Mario has to overcome. Like Hidden Side, Super Mario integrates an online application into the experience, but here it is necessary for accessing most of the building instructions.

The LEGO Group and Nintendo partner to take legendary brick-building to a new level
Designers from both companies join forces to create a new physical play experience that brings Super Mario to life in the world of LEGO bricks, launching later this year.
The LEGO Group announced a partnership with Nintendo that will change the way people interact with Super Mario in the physical world and engage in LEGO experiences.
Both companies share a passion for innovation and play and their collaboration has led to a reimagination of the LEGO building experience, enabling an entirely new way to play inspired by the beloved video game icon, Super Mario.
Neither a video game nor a traditional LEGO brick-based set, LEGO Super Mario is a new product line that features an interactive LEGO Mario figure who collects coins in real-life game levels created with LEGO bricks. The new line will let kids experience the playful world of Super Mario like never before. Super Mario will be brought to life in the physical LEGO world and new levels of challenge and styles of play will be part of the iconic LEGO experience enjoyed by generations.

- Not including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time or The Angry Birds Movie, which are themes based on film adaptations of video games, Super Mario is the third licensed theme based on a video game franchise. The first was Minecraft and the second was Overwatch. The LEGO Rock Band video game was a spin-off of an existing video game franchise (featuring LEGO characters but without themed sets as a primary focus), and appearances in LEGO Dimensions were in a video game with themed packs which didn't primarily focus on video game-based characters, so they are not included as licensed themes based on video game franchises.

LEGO Super Mario is a free smartphone companion app for the company’s proprietary franchise sets. It connects your mobile device to your physical setups and provides full 3D construction instructions for every item in this edition that you own. Once you build your pieces, it lets you save and share them as well.
Jumping on the Mario bandwagon
LEGO heavily capitalizes on the advent of smartphone usage, developing apps such as LEGO Life to promote its product. The company also took advantage of the Nintendo pop culture icon, creating a set to awaken nostalgia in all the famous mustached plumber fans.
The product reimagines classic Mario challenges in the well-known block shapes, building a brand new gameplay experience. Using the app requires at least a Starter Course, though, with the Lego Mario figure featuring a speaker and a built-in LCD screen. With the companion, you get access to a catalog of 3D guides, tips and tricks, and coin-gathering challenges that track your progress.
Easy setup and use
Once you get your set and download the app, setting it up is straightforward. All you need to do is activate Bluetooth and establish a connection. The interface features dozens of instructional videos for every set in the Super Mario collection. You’ll also find weekly challenges that pit you against the community. The UI is colorful and user-friendly, making it easy for children to track their gameplay with a smartphone.
Save and synchronize progress
This app lets you remember all your favorite moments and achievements by saving them to your gallery. Alternatively, you can get included in the community by sharing creations through the highly-secure LEGO ecosystem. If you create an account, you can sync up your progress across various devices and pin creations for easy access.
Our take
Overall, this companion app is an excellent tool for any LEGO fan. Its tricks and tutorials make building a breeze, while the challenges and social features take the experience to the next level.
Should you download it?
Yes, as long as you own a Mario Starter Course or another set from the franchise. It is a fantastic way to make the most out of your LEGO sets and builds upon an already fun and interactive experience for you and your kids.
Электронное устройство-игрушка «Лего Супер Марио» (далее игрушка) пользуется большой популярностью среди детей дошкольного и младшего школьного возраста. Компания-производитель выпускает модификации («костюмы») отдельными наборами. В ходе нашего исследования было показано, что используя только начальный («стартовый» набор) можно добиться всех вариантов модификации поведения игрушки.
Изменения начального набора
Вначале потребуется внести изменения в основную часть костюма, представляющую собой комбинезон синего цвета, входящего в начальный набор.
У данного комбинезона внутри имеются 6 выступов разного размера. Крайний левый и крайний правый — большого размера, они нажимают выключатели кнопочного типа на самой игрушке. Для работы модификаций мы срезали выступы большего размера обычными кусачками-бокорезами.
Модификации
Дальнейшие модификации будут продемонстрированы с помощью фотографий. Для нажатия выключателей кнопочного типа на самой игрушке использовались обычные спички, заострённые на конце так, чтобы проходить в прорези под выключателями.

Далее концы спичек можно отрезать кусачками-бокорезами так, чтобы они не препятствовали надеванию костюма, и надеть комбинезон на игрушку.
Внимание: извлекать концы спичек для смены модификации следует с осторожностью, так как они способны провалиться внутрь игрушки.
Вывод
Электронное устройство-игрушка «Лего Супер Марио» — это сложное устройство, которое, тем не менее, поддаётся модификациям, доступным широкому кругу потребителей.
