Кто из вас знал, что компания LEGO датская? И что она построила местный аэропорт? И что изначально это были деревянные игрушки? Да, именно так! Вот несколько фактов:
Компания находится в городке Биллунд в южной Дании. Оле Кристиансен начал делать деревянные игрушки в 1932 году – и основал непосредственно "LEGO" в 1934-м. Название происходит от датской фразы "Leg Godt" – "Играй Хорошо". Компании до сих пор является частной – уже в третьем поколении, и на данный момент в ней порядка 12.300 сотрудников по всему миру.
Несмотря на размеры, в компании считают, что это скорее одна большая семья. В случае, если вы устроитесь на работу в LEGO, то (помимо различных вводных курсов) у вас будет целых полчаса наедине с генеральным директором – он проводит полчаса с каждым новым сотрудником, рассказывая о компании и мило общаясь на тему целей и философии фирмы.
Billund Airport, один из самых загруженных аэропортов Дании, был построен сыном Оле – Годфредом – с целью долее удобной доставки продуктов компании на рынок.
Сегодня конструкторы развозятся по миру из двух центральных сортировочных центров – в Чехии и Техасе, США. Что интересно, продукты, предназначенные для датского рынка, всё равно проходят через Чехию – так дешевле.
60 процентов продаж за 2012 год – новинки. Около 5% всех конструкторов покупается взрослыми для них самих.
Компания берёт ответственность на себя в случае недостачи деталей в коробке: нужен лишь один телефонный звонок. Это на руку коллекционерам: в компании говорят, что им достаточно часто звонят по поводу "отсутствия" необычных человечков в наборах-новинках.
Одних только мини-человечков производится 400 миллионов в год – а в прошлом году LEGO официально стал самым крупным в мире производителем автомобильных шин (да, речь идёт о маленьких, игрушечных колёсах)!
Что ж, давайте прогуляемся по офису компании:
В феврале университет организовал нашей группе визит в LEGO. Погода в тот день настроения не прибавляла… но что ждало нас внутри! Гигантские кубики уже настраивают на позитивный лад:

Оригинальная деревянная уточка, с которой всё и началось – и её современная версия. Кстати, кто-то подсчитал, что шесть одинаковых кубиков 2х4 можно собрать 185 миллионами раз.

В коридоре на стене – девиз компании: "Только лучшее – достаточно хорошо". Оле Кристиансен всегда был перфекицонистом – это и позволило ему создать, пожалуй, один из лучших продуктов в мире:
Я заглянул в пару офисов, однако они ничем особо не отличаются – разве что вокруг куча игрушек для вдохновения. LEGO – пожалуй, одна из тех компаний, откуда вас не уволят, если застанут в рабочее время за играми :-)

We like nothing better than seeing our fans get creative, so we’ve made space for fan suggestions on our website. Now you have the chance to be a designer yourself. You can show off your amazing custom models and collect supporters for your ideas. You’ll also be able to admire the ideas of other LEGO® fans and even get votes that could lead to making your idea a reality.
Before you start working on your creation, there are a few things to keep in mind. We can only accept product suggestions when they’re submitted to LEGO® Ideas, built out of LEGO® bricks and meet our other Project Guidelines.
Charity and Donations
We are indeed honored and flattered by the requests we receive everyday for LEGO products for various kinds of charities. Unfortunately, we cannot oblige all of these requests. Therefore, we need to focus on a number of well-defined areas and purposes.
We support:
- Projects that are 100% charitable. charitable organisations which promote children’s play, learning and creativity.
- Charitable organisations which support marginalised and vulnerable children.
We do not:
- Give financial support or do sponsorships
- Provide donations for lotteries, fairs, prizes, parties, events or the like
- Donate products to summer camps, students projects, libraries or the like
Licensing
The LEGO Licensing portfolio covers various products such as:
- Clothing, bags, bedding products
- Books, magazines
- Storage, watches, clocks, electronic accessory items, stationery
The LEGO Group partners with a limited number of licensing partners and has strong focus on product quality and safety as well as a high degree of LEGO DNA.
How to become a LEGO retailer/distributor
LEGO products are already sold through lots of different shops: Toy supermarkets, specialty shops, national chains and department stores. We also sell directly through LEGO Shop and our LEGO Stores (the official LEGO shops).
If you would like to sell LEGO toys in your area, please contact the local LEGO Group office to discuss the possibilities.
Looking for a key note speaker?
Due to a very high level of activity in the LEGO Group at present, we have to focus on daily business and are therefore not able to prioritize external activities such as acting as a speaker at conferences etc.
This applies not only to LEGO Group top executives, but also in general to senior management representing the LEGO Group.

С 1949 года творческий разум из Дании радовал детей (да что уж там, и взрослых тоже) по всему миру. Величайшее и в то же время простейшее изобретение конструктора суровыми викингами перевернуло представление людей о развлечениях: оказывается, веселым бывает и творчество. Мы получили несколько свежих фотографий из штаб-квартиры LEGO — она выглядит именно так, как мы и представляли.
Домом головного офиса LEGO стал небольшой городок Биллунд. В целом нежелание корпорации вести дела из столицы страны вполне объяснимо: инфраструктура здесь лучше, траффик меньше, да и сотрудникам лучше дышится и думается на природе.
Все здания, входные группы и интерьерные решения стали результатом сотрудничества датских архитекторов Rosan Bosch и Rune Fjord.
Профессионалы такого уровня не требовали никакого четкого руководства. Единственной задачей было сделать пространство свободным от засилья стандартных идей и вдохновленным самой концепцией LEGO.
Результатом работы стал действительно необычный офис, в котором хочется не только творить, но и жить. К слову, некоторые из сотрудников компании так и делают: для всех желающих предусмотрены небольшие, но комфортные отдельные комнаты отдыха.
В качестве альтернативы обыкновенной лестнице (она здесь тоже есть) архитекторы встроили в здание огромный слайдер из нержавеющей стали. Само собой, он пользуется гораздо большим успехом, чем банальные ступеньки.
