Background [ edit ]

The Galactic Republic was a peaceful government that lasted for more than twenty-five thousand years. Then, in Episode I, the Trade Federation (later known as the Separatists), a trading group, has been convinced by the evil Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who was actually Senator Palpatine, to attack the world of Naboo using their Droid Army. They attacked, but Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn were called in from Coruscant, and they freed Queen Amidala and her advisors and pilots from the droids and fled to Coruscant, but had to stop at Tatooine for repairs after they broke through the Droid Navy blockade at Naboo. Later, they met Anakin Skywalker, a Force-sensitive slave on the world. After going to his house and meeting his mother, Qui-Gon Jinn realized the potential that Anakin had in himself and believed that he was the chosen one. Later on Anakin entered a podrace and won first place and enough money for the others to repair the queen's ship. Then Anakin left Tatooine to grow up and become a Jedi Knight. The queen had asked the new Supreme Chancellor (Palpatine) for help on the invasion of her planet, but she didn't get that much help from that. So the only choice she was left with was asking the Gungan army for help. This was now the Battle of Naboo. It was the Gungan Army, and the Naboo Army against the Trade Federation. Anakin had stumbled into a Naboo Starfighter and had flew off into space to destroy the Droid Control Ship, while the others had been fighting off droids. They all then stumbled into Darth Maul, so the plan was Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan fight him off while the others deal with the droids. In the battle in space, Anakin destroyed the ship and saved the Gungans from certain defeat, and possibly death. Amidala and her troops succeded in their part. So did Obi-Wan, but in order to have this happen Qui-Gon got killed by Darth Maul, which lead to the anger and sorrow that built up in himself, so he instantly flipped, grabbing his master's lightsaber, and cut Darth Maul in half. There was then celebration on Naboo.

Later in Episode II, the Trade Federation called in two assassins, Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett and Clawdite assassin Zam Wesell, to assassinate the Senator of Naboo, Padme Amidala. After the attempt was quelled by her bodyguards, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker, Kenobi was sent to Kamino to track Jango Fett. While he was there, he discovered that a clone army was being created at the request of the now dead Jedi, Master Sifo-Dyas. Anakin was ordered to stay and guard Padme on Naboo. Obi Wan found out that the Separatist Alliance was building a droid army, so he tried to inform the Jedi Council, and then was captured, but Anakin and Padme were on Tatooine because Anakin was searching for his mother, and they picked up the message. Then, the two went to Geonosis but were also captured, but a strike team of Jedi came to rescue them. After a short skirmish, Master Yoda came with the Clone Army to rescue the Jedi. Then, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi attempted to capture Count Dooku. Count Dooku escaped after cutting off Anakin's hand. The Clone Wars had begun.

In Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and the Republic fought against a large Separatist Navy fleet in orbit of Coruscant. They boarded cyborg General Grievous's flagship, the Invisible Hand and dueled Count Dooku, and freed Chancellor Palpatine from him, who was being held prisoner. Palpatine wanted Anakin Skywalker be his personal representative of the Jedi Council. The Jedi approved, but did not grant him the title "Jedi Master". Anakin became angry at the Jedi Order for not letting him become a Master, and got even angrier that Palpatine, who was Anakin's friend, was untrusted by the Order and they wanted Anakin to spy on him. Anakin refused, and later Kenobi and the 212th Attack Battalion was sent to Utapau, a world where Grievous was spotted, and Anakin had to stay on Coruscant. Later, Yoda went to Kashyyyk in the Outer Rim to defend it from the invading Separatist forces, and then Palpatine gave the Clone troopers across the galaxy Order 66, contingency order that branded Jedi traitors to the Republic. Clones across the Galaxy turned on their Generals and killed them, and only a few survived. Anakin became a Sith named Darth Vader, and went to the volcanic world of Mustafar where he received the order to "Take care of the Seperatists". Then Padmé arrived and told him what Obi-Wan said. Obi-Wan, who was secretly aboard, looked at what happened, and Vader force-chokes Padmé. The 2 battle, and Vader lost, got his legs cut off, then fell near a lava river, but was rescued by Palpatine and a squad of Shock troopers. Padmé is taken to a hospital, where Luke and Leia are born. Padmé dies, having lost the will to live, Yoda exiles himself to Dagobah, Bail Organa adopts Leia, and Luke is brought to his Uncle and aunt, Owen and Beru on Tatooine.

In the standalone film Rogue One, the scientist Galen Erso was captured by the Galactic Empire. His daughter, Jyn, was rescued by Saw Gerrera, a veteran of the Clone Wars. Thirteen years later, Jyn joined the Rebel Alliance. She, CaptainCassian Andor, and the reprogammed Imperial droid K-2SO, travelled to the moon Jedha to convince Saw to release the Imperial defector Bodhi Rook, who had a message from Galen. In the message, Galen revealed a flaw in the secret superweapon called the Death Star, and instructed Jyn to recover the Death Star's plans. Jyn, Cassian, and K-2SO, along with Guardian of the Whills Chirrut Îmwe and former Guardian and soldier Baze Malbus, escaped Jedha just as the Death Star destroyed the city they were in, while Saw and the other inhabitants were killed. On Eadu, Director Krennic led Galen to admit to betraying the Empire by putting a flaw in the Death Star. Before Galen can be taken care of, however, Rebel Alliance members bombed the station and killed Galen shortly after he was being reunited with Jyn, much to her grief. The Alliance deemed Jyn's words as not enough proof to the flaw in the Death Star, and Jyn, Cassian, and others formed the group Rogue One. Rogue One attacked the planet Scarif and stole the plans. The plans were received by the Alliance, but Scarif was destroyed by the Empire, killing Rebel and Imperial forces alike. The rebels barely escaped an attack from Darth Vader on the ship Tantive IV.

Soon after, in Episode IV, Princess Leia, who was a member of the Rebel Alliance and owner of the Tantive IV, were being pursued by Vader's flagship, the ISD Devastator. She was captured after Stormtroopers, Imperial soldiers, boarded the ship and killed everyone onboard. She put a message for Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Death Star plans in R2-D2, an astromech droid. Him, along with a protocol droid named C-3PO, went to Tatooine in an escape pod. The two wandered in the desert but were captured by Jawa creatures, and the Empire sent troops to find them. Luke Skywalker was a teen living on the desert world of Tatooine, was Force-sensitive and wanted to go to the Imperial Academy, but his Aunt and Uncle didn't let him for another year. Later, his Uncle purchased two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, an Astromech and a Protocol droid, to work around the farm. When R2-D2 went missing one day, so Luke and C-3PO went after him. They found him but were attacked by Tusken Raiders, and were rescued by Obi-Wan, who called himself Ben Kenobi. Luke found out that Kenobi was a Jedi, and Kenobi told him he was Force-sensitive, and he should train to become a Jedi. The four stumbled upon a destroyed Jawa sand crawler who were the ones that sold Artoo and Threepio to Luke. He went back to the farm and saw that everything was destroyed. He left with Ben to the world of Alderaan with Han Solo and Chewbacca and the droids, but they saw that the world was destroyed by the Death Star. They were captured by it, and rescued Leia from the prison while Ben turned off the Tractor Beam, and was killed. The others escaped to the Rebel base, and after an attack on the Death Star, it was destroyed.

Later in Episode V, Luke joined the Rebellion and was patrolling around Echo Base on the frozen ice world of Hoth. The Empire was searching for the Rebel base and sent an Imperial probe droid to Hoth, and Luke was thought it was a meteor crash. He was attacked by a Wampa ice creature, but later escaped from it and was rescued by Han Solo, who stayed around the base longer then he bargained for. Later, the Empire attacked with Snowtroopers and massive All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT ) walkers, led by General Veers. Luke lead a squad of snowspeeders to take out the walkers, but failed and the base was lost. The surviving Rebel troops evacuated. Han, Leia, Threepio and Chewbacca were followed by a squad of Star Destroyers, and fled into an asteroid field hoping they would give up the chase. They landed inside and asteroid, but realized it was a space slug, and quickly left. They then headed to Cloud City, where Han's friend Lando Calrissian was located. Later, Han was betrayed by Calrissian, captured, and Luke left his training on Dagobah, a swamp world that was residence to master Yoda, and went to Cloud City. Han was taken by Jango Fett's son, Boba Fett, to the crime lord Jabba the Hutt and was frozen in carbonite. Leia, Luke, Chewie, R2, Threepio, and Lando escaped.

In Episode VI, Leia tried to rescue Han from Jabba's palace on Tatooine but was captured. Luke came to try to rescue Han, Chewbacca, Leia, Threepio, and R2, but was taken prisoner. He then was forced into a pit with a horrible rancor monster, but managed to kill the beast. Luke was to be thrown into the mouth of the Sarlacc, but managed to get to Jabba's sail barge, destroy it, and escaped with Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, and the two droids. They made it to the Rebel fleet, where the space attack on the Death Star II battle station over the forest moon of Endor was being planned. Luke, Han, Chewie, Leia, and the droids were to go down to the moon's surface with a group of Rebel Commandos and destroy the shield generator bunker on the planet surface. They left to the world and made it past the blockade, and landed. They went to the bunker, but had to fight Scout troopers on speeder bikes and Leia was lost and captured by Ewoks. Then, the strike team waited near the bunker while the droids, Luke, Han, and Chewie searched for Leia, but were captured by Ewoks, but freed and were made part of the tribe. They then attacked the bunker, and the fleet attacked the Death Star, and Luke told Leia that she was his sister and Vader was their father, and left to Vader to turn him to the light side. The bunker was destroyed after a battle, and Luke managed to turn Vader to the light side but Vader died while killing the Emperor on the Death Star. Meanwhile, the Death Star II was destroyed. The Rebel Alliance, Ewoks, and other planets (like Tatooine, Coruscant, and Naboo) celebrated the fall of the Empire. Luke saw the spirits of Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin during the celebration. After watching them, he turned back to enjoy the festivities.

Thirty years later, in Episode VII, an organization called the First Order was led by Snoke, who wanted to find Luke Skywalker and end the Jedi. Leia now led the Resistance, a force that battled the First Order. Poe Dameron, the Resistance's best pilot, gived his droid, BB-8, the map to Luke. BB-8 met the scavenger Rey, while Poe escapeed with the stormtrooper FN-2187, who he nicknameed "Finn". Rey and Finn met each other, and they escaped with BB-8 on the Millennium Falcon, which was recaptured by Han and Chewbacca, the original owners. They headed to Takodana and met Maz Kanata, who gave Finn the lightsaber that once belonged to both Anakin and Luke Skywalker when Rey is captured by Kylo Ren, Han and Leia's son, who was obsessed with following in Darth Vader's footsteps. Rey was rescued on Starkiller Base, a killer of entire planet systems, while Han was killed by Ren, who attacked Finn and Rey. Rey retrieved Finn's lightsaber and defeated Kylo Ren, and Starkiller Base was destroyed. Rey and Finn escaped on the Millennium Falcon, and Snoke sent General Hux to retrieve Ren, saying that "it is time to complete his training". Rey went to the planet Ahch-To and finally met Luke, handing him his old lightsaber.

Overview and history [ edit ]

At its start in 1999, Star Wars was one of the first officially licensed LEGO themes released, alongside with Winnie the Pooh. The theme was originally planned to end in 2007, but was renewed and slated for discontinuation in 2011. Despite this, LEGO renewed the license yet again until 2016. After that had been announced, Lego established another contract guaranteeing the continuing of the theme at least until 2022. So far, from 1999-2011, there have been 236 LEGO Star Wars sets, including regular sets, Star Wars Mini sets, Midi-scale sets, TECHNIC, Mindstorms and Ultimate Collector Series sets. In 2005 they changed the faces from yellow to a flesh coloured which also continued when Harry Potter used the flesh colour for the brand.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is one of the main subthemes of the major Star Wars theme.

Contents

Overview

This sub-theme was released as part of the Star Wars theme in 2008 to coincide with the release of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and TV series. The sub-theme recreates various vehicles, characters, and locations from the franchise. In the Star Wars universe, the Clone Wars was a conflict fought between the Confederacy of Independent systems - the Separatists - and the galaxy-governing Galactic Republic for control of the galaxy.

Many of the essential vehicles and characters involved in the war have been recreated into LEGO sets. Many sets have been released in the sub-theme, which continued until 2014 when the series concluded. It is unknown if more sets from Seasons 5 and 6 will be released in the upcoming years, but in 2017, Lego released its first Season 6 set in the form of the 75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter, thus hinting that more Clone Wars sets may be on their way. In 2017, the Republic Fighter Tank was also rereleased as a smaller set. In 2018, it was announced that The Clone Wars would be revived for a Season 7, and shortly afterwards, LEGO rereleased their first The Clone Wars set, Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, as a new model. Most of the events of the TV series first two seasons occur in LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, which is the fourth LEGO Star Wars game, and the 35th LEGO Video Game to be released thus far.

Release History

The first LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars set, released under the Expanded Universe line.

The first sets released were 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and 7670 Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid in early 2008, both originally under the Expanded Universe theme. Before the release of the first wave, the Comic-Con Exclusive Clone Wars Set was released at the San Diego Comic-con to promote the new LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars sets.

Soon after the release of the first two sets, the first official wave Clone Wars sets was released in July of 2008. This wave had an entirely new packaging from the other Star Wars sets. A long white area was above the picture on the set. On the left was the Star Wars logo rendered in blue. On the far right of the white area was a picture of a clone trooper's helmet. 7669 and 7670 were re-released with this new packaging.

In March of 2009, a long-awaited set was released; 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker. In July, Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter was released. The box of this set had a new design, featuring a white area above the set, with the Star Wars logo in red on the far left and a picture of several clone troopers on the far right.

The new 2009 Clone Wars logo appears above the set.

In August of 2009, the second large wave of Clone Wars sets were released; this wave was composed of 7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, 8039 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser, 8036 Separatist Shuttle, and 7753 Pirate Tank. In September, the online game The Quest for R2-D2 was released on the official LEGO Star Wars page.

During the release of several sets during the course of year, many webcomics have been posted on the LEGO Star Wars website and many small Clone Wars comics have appeared in the LEGO Magazine. Promotional sets, key chains, and magnets have been released during the courses of the years 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Two Star Wars: The Clone Wars sets were released for the first wave of 2010. These sets are 8085 Freeco Speeder and the 8086 Droid Tri-Fighter. The sets to be released in 2010's second wave are the 8098 Clone Turbo Tank, 8093 Plo Koon's Starfighter, 8095 General Grievous' Starfighter and 8128 Cad Bane's Speeder. This wave had another redesign of its packaging, with a cloudy dark blue background and Captain Rex superimposed on the design.

Minifigures

Besides certain droids such as Buzz Droids and Battle Droids, no minifigures from the other Star Wars lines have been brought over to the Clone Wars line. The minifigures have more of a resemblance to the animated characters in the television series than to the live actors in the movies. Since the characters in the show have bigger eyes and sharper angles, the same has been done to the minifigures. This style was dropped for The Clone Wars' successor, Rebels, in its subtheme (with the exception of the Imperial characters' armor designs). When Clone Wars sets were released again beginning in 2017 (at the same time the final Rebels set to date was released), this stylized look was dropped for The Clone Wars minifigures as well.

Since the clones could be considered some of the most important characters in the Clone Wars, they were given more accurate designs, with more accurate armour, helmets, and faces compared to their 2002 and 2005 counterparts.

Minifigures redesigned for The Clone Wars line

Minifigures including Anakin Skywalker have more detailed design including a new hair piece, and larger eyes to match the look of the film and TV show.

When the animated series The Clone Wars premiered in 2008, a new era of Star Wars began. The show immediately became a fan-favorite and today, many highlight it as the best thing to happen to the franchise. Luckily for fans of LEGO Star Wars, the LEGO group had already released an entire wave of LEGO Star Wars Clone Wars sets in anticipation of the inevitable success of the series.

The movie and TV show did not just introduce countless new characters and lore but it gave us, the fans, a whole new world of collectibles, whether that be LEGO Clone Wars sets or even action figures. Over the years, the set releases never ceased, even after the show was canceled in 2014.

Fortunately for us, in 2019, at a time when the future of the franchise was uncertain, Disney announced the return of The Clone Wars for one final season. To honor the long-anticipated last season of the incredible show, we have prepared a list of the 10 Best LEGO Star Wars The Clone Wars Sets.

10. Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon (75045)

The Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon is perhaps one of the most underrated sets in the entire history of the LEGO Star Wars The Clone Wars subcategory. It could be because this set was a store exclusive in a lot of countries which is why many fans did not have the chance to purchase it.

I believe LEGO did a perfect job in the design of the anti-vehicle cannon which we saw in the original Clone Wars movie from 2008. With this incredible cannon and the outstanding Minifigure selection, I truly wonder why this set did not receive more attention.

Piece Count: 434

Minifigures: Plo Koon, Wolfpack Clone Trooper x2, Droideka

Original Retail Price: $39.99

75045 Republic A-7

9. The Malevolence (9515)

This set is perhaps another unpopular choice for this list but when you look at it and compare it to The Malevolence arc in The Clone Wars, you will see how accurate this set is. In fact, I could have easily put this set at a higher position on my list if there weren’t so many unique sets to beat it.

When it comes to the Malevolence, I already mentioned how good the design was. It included a comfortable handle that allows you to carry it around effortlessly, something often missing from larger LEGO Star Wars sets. The interior design is detailed and features some nice play functions. Finally, the Minifigure selection was incredible, although I believe an additional droid or two would have made this set even more enjoyable.

Piece Count: 1101

Minifigures: Padme Amidala, Battle Droid, Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous, Battle Droid Commander

Original Retail Price: $119.99

9515 The Malevolence

8. Armored Assault Tank (AAT) – (8018)

Moving on with an older set from all the way back in 2008 – the 8018 Armored Assault Tank. It is true that we have received many versions of this set throughout the years but I will surely rank this one from 2008 among the most worthy sets price-wise and thus, it also received a spot in this list.

Overall, the design of the 2008 AAT was quite accurate both in size, build, and color scheme. The build itself is definitely not repetitive and would give you a fun experience if you manage to find the set at a good price today.

As for the price that I mentioned above, the AAT came with a total of seven Minifigures. If you compare it to sets in this price range from recent years, you will see why I feel it deserves to be on my list of best LEGO Clone Wars sets. Overall, this was a great army building set but definitely not a set that impressed with playability.

Piece Count: 407

Minifigures: Yoda, Clone Trooper, Battle Droid x2, Super Battle Droid x3

Original Retail Price: $49.99

Armored Assault Tank (AAT)

7. Republic Frigate (7964)

When it comes to underrated Clone Wars LEGO sets, I feel like the 7964 Republic Frigate would be somewhere around the top. In short, this was an incredibly well-priced set with an outstanding Minifigure selection, an accurate design, and an abundance of play features.

Before anything else, this set stood out with its Minifigures. It introduced three brand new characters in LEGO – Quinlan Voss, Commander Wolffe, and Eeth Koth. If you are die-hard Star Wars fan, you will understand why this set should have received more attention.

Besides the Minifigures and the sleek design, the 7964 Republic Frigate truly took playability to another level. The interior was extremely detailed and accessible through all the opening hatches. It featured several separate compartments that each gave something to play with.

Overall, this is a set that wouldn’t have been this cheap if it was to be released today. It was a great set for children, it was a great set for Minifigure collectors. If you have the chance to get it at a good price, do not think twice.

Piece Count: 1015

Minifigures: Clone Commander Wolffe, Wolf Pack Clone Trooper, Eeth Koth, Quinlan Vos, Yoda

Original Retail Price: $119.99

7964 Republic Frigate

6. BARC Speeder with Sidecar (75012)

When this set came out in 2013, it became an instant hit among fans. It featured a solid BARC speeder but more importantly, a Phase II Clone Captain Rex. We could easily say that this is the main reason behind the success of this set and also why we put it so high on our list.

Nevertheless, the set also came with a brand new redesigned Obi-Wan Kenobi and two Commando Droids that are as rare today as they were back in 2013. In addition, the BARC speeder had an outstanding design.

Overall, I think that the only thing that could have made this set better would have been an additional Clone Trooper. Then, it would have been the perfect army building set and it would have had even more success.

Piece Count: 226

Minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Commando Droid x2, Captain Rex (Phase II)

Original Retail Price: $24.99

75012 BARC Speeder with Sidecar

5. Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser (8039)

The only issue I could find about this set is the inaccurate size but if LEGO had to make it larger, it would have been twice as expensive, therefore, we shouldn’t consider this an issue. When you take this out, this was an outstanding set with an incredible Minifigure selection and a truly fierce design.

Back in the day, Senate Commandos in LEGO were non-existent. When this set was announced, the entire community was freaking out because of the two commandos that were to be included. In addition, the Clone Wars version of Chancellor Palpatine was incredibly accurate, although many believe that this was an incredibly ugly Minifigure.

Overall, this set was incredible for its time and I believe it still is up to this day. It did not impress with an abundance of play features although you could access Palpatine’s command center. Now that we have the Senate Commando Battle Pack, it does take a bit of the uniqueness of the Venator. Nevertheless, if you get the chance to purchase this set at a fair price, it will be a great addition to your collection.

Piece Count: 1170

Minifigures: Chancellor Palpatine, Senate Commando x2, Clone Gunner, Clone Pilot

Original Retail Price: $119.99

8039 8039 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser

4. Republic Gunship (75021)

Now, I know that this LEGO Republic Gunship is not directly from The Clone Wars but instead, based on Episode 2: Attack of the Clones. We could easily throw the 7676 Republic Attack Gunship from 2008 in its place simply because it did come as a Clone Wars set but to be honest, the 2013 Gunship is a far superior set and it is practically the same vehicle.

With this said, the 2008 Gunship was definitely one of the absolute fan-favorite sets until the release of this newer version. However, the 75021 Gunship from 2013 was superior in absolutely every category. It came with a far more accurate and sleek design. It functioned a lot smoother and the Minifigure selection is incomparable to the old one.

As the Republic Gunship has always been one of the most demanded sets, the prices of both versions today are cosmic. You would be the luckiest person on the planet if you find each of the two at a decent price and you definitely should not miss on the opportunity if it ever occurs.

Piece Count: 1175

Minifigures: Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Super Battle Droid x2, Clone Trooper Captain, Clone Pilot

Original Retail Price: $119.00

75021 Republic Gunship

3. Clone Turbo Tank (8098)

No LEGO Star Wars The Clone Wars list would be complete without a Clone Turbo Tank. With the oldest version being quite inaccurate and the latest one from 2015 being quite disappointing, we chose the 8098 Clone Turbo Tank from 2010.

When you compare it to the other versions, this one had the perfect size, playability features, and Minifigure selection. In my opinion, LEGO nailed it with the design here when you consider that this is a hard-to-design vehicle.

In addition, they did an even better job with the Minifigure selection. Honestly, this has to be one of my favorite selections ever in a Star Wars set with Cad Bane and Aayla Secura. Nevertheless, I feel like an additional Clone Trooper would have completed the picture as a single one just does not look fitting with a Clone Turbo Tank.

Similarly enough to the Gunship sets, Clone Turbo Tanks nowadays cost a fortune. Still, if you plan on getting one, definitely settle for the 8098 one from 2010.

Piece Count: 1141

Minifigures: Aayla Secura, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Cad Bane, Clone Trooper

Original Retail Price: $119.99

2. Clone Walker Battle Pack (8014)

If you are new to the LEGO Star Wars community, you would most likely not understand why this set is placed on number two or why it is even on the list. Honestly, I placed it so high on the list because it is definitely the most impactful set in the entire 20 years of LEGO Star Wars.

When this set came out, it gave people the chance to build their own Clone armies at home. Quite literally, the Clone Walker Battle Pack was always entirely sold out. Everyone was freaked out over this set and everyone bought as many as they could. No other set has received as much attention as the Clone Trooper Battle Pack and this is ultimately why it is in this list.

Minifigures: Clone Commander, Clone Trooper x2, Clone Gunner

Original Retail Price: $11.99

8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack

1. 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT

You were, undoubtedly, expecting to see the Republic Dropship at some point but in my opinion, there is no other set that could take the number one spot on any Clone Wars list. This behemoth of a set has to be one of the most unique sets ever made by LEGO. It could even be considered a LEGO Star Wars UCS set due to its size.

Ever since this came out in 2009, it has been the crown jewel in the Clone Wars category of sets and undoubtedly the most demanded set of all. Nowadays, you can hardly find the Republic Dropship for less than $800, can you imagine that?

Can you imagine a more perfect Clone Wars set in terms of design? Not only is it huge and extremely accurate but it had so many playability features that it would take time to remember all. Even so, this was definitely not suitable for younglings as the total weight of the set was over six pounds.

My only issue with this set was the Minifigure selection. For $250, I feel like there should have been at least two or three more Minifigures at a minimum. It only featured six Clone Troopers and two Clone Pilots. Can you imagine how much cooler it would have been if it had at least a couple of Jedi characters included?

Piece Count: 1758

Minifigures: Clone Trooper x6, Clone Pilot x2

Original Retail Price: $249.99

10195 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT

Final Thoughts

The Clone Wars has literally become like a religion in the Star Wars community and it is no wonder why Season 7 was more anticipated than Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Not only has it given fans countless incredible Star Wars stories and moments but also many unique LEGO Star Wars sets.

There are numerous other incredible sets that also deserve to be mentioned here like 9525 Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter and 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship and the choice of the 10 best wasn’t easy. Nevertheless, I feel like I summarized the best and most impactful sets from the past 12 years and that you will easily agree with most of the choices.

As for the future, we can only hope that LEGO continues with the Clone Wars sets even after the final season ends.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is one of the main subthemes of the Star Wars theme.

Contents

Overview [ edit ]

The theme was released as part of Star Wars in 2008 to coincide with the release of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and TV series. The subtheme recreates the vehicles, characters, and locations from the franchise. In the Star Wars canon, the Clone Wars were a conflict fought between the ersatz Confederacy of Independent systems - the Separatists - and the galaxy-governing Galactic Republic for apparent control of the galaxy.

Many of the essential vehicles and characters involved in the war have been recreated into LEGO sets. Many sets have been released in the subtheme, which still continues presently as of 2011. The events of the series' first two seasons occur in LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, which is the fourth LEGO Star Wars game, and the 35th LEGO Video Game to be released thus far.

Release History [ edit ]

The first sets released were 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and 7670 Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid, both as released under the Expanded Universe line, until 7669 was released with a logo of the Clone Wars on the packaging at a later date.

Before the release of the first wave, the Comic-Con Exclusive Clone Wars Set was released at the San Diego Comic-con to promote the new LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars sets.

Soon after the release of Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid, the first official wave Clone Wars sets were released in July of 2008. This wave had an entirely new packaging from the other Star Wars sets. A long white area was above the picture on the set. On the left was the Star Wars logo rendered in blue. On the far right of the white area was a picture of a clone minifigures' helmet. 7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid were released again with the new packaging. 7673, 7674, 7675, 7676, 7678, 7679, 7680 and 7681 were all released as part of the first official wave.

The next wave of Clone Wars sets were released in December of 2008 in the United States of America and January of 2009 in all other countries that LEGO sells to. This wave included the sets 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack, 8015 Assassin Droids Battle Pack, 8016 Hyena Droid Bomber, 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle, and 8018 Armored Assault Tank (AAT)

In July of 2009, Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter was released. The box of this set had a new design, featuring a white area above the set, with the words "Star Wars" in red on the far left and a picture of several clone troopers from the television series on the far right.

In August of 2009, the second large wave of Clone Wars sets were released; this wave was composed of 7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, 8039 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser, 8036 Separatist Shuttle, and 7753 Pirate Tank

In September of 2009, the online game The Quest for R2-D2 was officially released on the official LEGO Star Wars page.

During the release of several sets during the course of year, many webcomics have been posted on the LEGO Star Wars website and many small Clone Wars comics have appeared in the LEGO Magazine. Promotional sets, key chains, and magnets have been released during the courses of the years 2008, 2009, and 2010 and more will presumably be released in 2011.

Two Star Wars: The Clone Wars sets have been released for the first wave of 2010. This wave will have another redesign of its packaging, with a cloudy dark blue background, and Captain Rex imposed on the design.

Minifigures [ edit ]

No minifigures from the other Star Wars lines have been brought over to the Clone Wars line, other than the Buzz droid, meaning that all the minifigures are brand new and exclusive to this subtheme, besides a few minifigures who appear with different variations the Battle droids who share most of the pieces from the original.

The minifigures now have more of a resemblance to the animated characters in the new television series than to the live actors in the movies. Since the characters in the show have bigger eyes and sharper angles, the same has been done to the minifigures.

Since the clones could be considered more or less the most important characters in the Clone Wars, they have been given more accurate designs, this is also due to the fact that many fans have been long-awaiting new and accurate clone designs. They now have more accurate armour, helmets, and faces compared to their 2002 and 2005 counterparts.
